Happy Friday sweet friends.  I’m smiling today because I have a card to share.  It was actually the inspiration for the Emmeline die.  It’s a long journey from inspiration to actual die but somewhere in my mind I’m already making cards and gifts with the ideas in my head when designing.  There’s no if’s ands or buts about it, I’m a lace addict.  I love it all, vintage, embroidered, bobbin, tatted – all.of.it.  My recent Venise Lace dies, are simply meant to mimic the feel of lace, in paper, and I was tickled to create this with the airy open feel and the scalloped floral background.

Cardmaking Ideas by Becca Feeken using Emmeline, Venise Lace, Hemstitch Rectangles, Cinch and Go Flowers II, Graceful Tiny Tags Dies and Stamp Set - see www.amazingpapergrace.com/blog/?p=32260 for full supply list and links
Today I crafted a shaped card that is joined together by the hinge technique I demoed —-> here.  I framed the die using Hemstitch Rectangles – another fiber technique that renders square openings  in linens by pulling threads and bunching selected threads together.   The front is decorated with Cinch and Go Flowers II and has the stylings of hemstitch around the leaves.

This is the kind of card that I really don’t want to hide any of the airy transparency so instead of putting a huge sentiment on the front, it was perfect to put a tiny sentiment on a tiny tag using Graceful Tiny Tags Dies and Stamp Set.  This is one of my tricks with a showcase card – I minimize anything that can cover the beauty of the dies while putting a little tag front and center.  Here are other samples to show you what I mean – HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE.

I embellished the background with pearls – big surpise :-) and the interior card has another hemstitch panel to write a small quote, sentiment or even put a picture.

    Hi, Becca,
Is this card gorgeous, or what?! I love lace and you really captured the ethereal essence by choosing white to form the lace and leaving it open. Using just a whisper of color on the flowers and leaves brought them to life. Satin ribbon and pearls – the perfect touch. Your card brought beauty into my day but it also brought a feeling of peace. Thank you!
    Love & blessings, SandyReplyCancel

Hi there Ann, I did not do a tutorial for the flowers (partly because the ‘master flower makers’ are on the creative team and my attempts pale in comparison to their artful ways :-) But seriously, I don’t fuss with flowers – these are all done the same way as Cinch and Go No. 1. – the hole in the center is like training wheels for me. Perhaps I will do a new tutorial for all the sweeties here when I get caught up on some other tasks…ReplyCancel

July 4th Card by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders Hemstitch Rectangles and Spellbinders Marcheline Plume - see fully supply list at www.amazingpapergrace.com/blog/?p=32212
Happy Birthday USA!  Hi friends, I thought I’d start out our weekly inspiration post with a clean and simple patriotic card – a rarity for me.  Yes, I did a little glam but the stamp was just so beautiful I did my best not to obstruct.  I used Hemstitch Rectangles to border the stamp.  My top panel is A2 sized at 4.25 x 5.5 inches so the Hemstitch die is just the right size to border a full sized stamp.  I used  Marcheline Plume to add the decorative piece on top.  The stamp I used is a wonderful stamp by Hobby Lobby, Oh Say Can You See.

Today, as we’ve been doing every Tuesday, we’re recapping projects made this week by the Creative Team.  This week you’ll see creations made with several collections: Venise Lace,  Vintage Elegance and Graceful Borders!

Joanna Wisneiwska created an anniversary card with the Filigree Booklet.  I was blow away by this sweet creation!  It was so very clever that she used one of the corner pieces from Graceful Frame Maker as a side pocket :-)
Teresa Horner used Francesca Label and Emmeline Treillage to combine a smashing color combination of teal and kraft.  The kraft simply makes the two teal tones pop!  She overlayed the flower background with the shadow die to create contrast against the dark teal background and polished things off with a sweet bud made using Cinch and Go Flowers II.  Teresa also created two decorative boxes that are gorgeous – she added accents with Adorning Accents.

Melissa Bove  created a sweet ensemble using Graceful Floral Lace in a card and a matching box where she echoed the Floral Lace and added a decorative top with the die and stamp from Giving Occasions.  Sweet!

Anita Kejriwal had a border filled week.  She combined the Graceful Bracket Border and Graceful Sweet Words Border for a sweet layered look.  She used Graceful Floral Lace and Graceful Sweet Words Border for a lovely mitered look.

Romantic Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire Design - What Greater Thing Is There, Spellbinders 74-790 Bella Clair Border, Spellbinders S6-021 Imperial Square - Full supply list and links at www.amazingpapergrace.com/blog/?p=32195
Happy July sweet friends!  Thanks for the sweet thoughts you shared about the bookmark samples.  I designed those dies quite some time ago and it was wonderful to pull them out and play with them again.    Yesterday it was an indulgence to forget my have to do’s and just give in to the pleasure of playing around with paper.  That’s why I’m popping in today – I got a chance to really tinker with a die for the first time – Spellbinders 74-790 Bella Clair Border which is part of the Venise Lace Collection.  The corner piece is from a die I have in my collection that has recently been discontinued it can be found here —-> Spellbinders S6-021 Imperial Square and here —-> Spellbinders S6-021 Imperial Square.  I have to say that once you start playing with something, the ideas tumble out as is the case with this border — I’m sure more of these ideas will get made up and shared here.

Okay, this is so, so easy:

  1. Cut an 8.5″ x 11″ sheet of paper in half so that you have two sheets that are 5.5″ wide.
  2. Use your border die across the bottom of both of those sheets.  (I recommend the Platinum die cutting machine for this because it is best to run your die through vertically)
  3. Once cut, trim one piece to 7.5″ and score the other at 7.5″ and fold at the score line with the 1″ flap on top.  Adhere your other piece to this flap. (Visual learners can see a version of that technique —>here)
  4. Add a 4-3/4 x 4-3/4″ pink panel matted with desert storm, for your sentiment.
  5. Put an embellishment in the right corner before adhering.
  6. Add lace, bow, flowers and pearls.

Many of you may be asking what happened to Day of Giving Friday.  Just a note to say I’m taking a break for a week or two until I get it caught up.  It will come back but I’m trying to perk things up around here, so lots of research going on in the background.  Happy Fourth of July weekend here in the USA and Happy Canada Day to our sweet northern neighbors – Happy 150th!!

Good to know I’m not the only one that spends more time looking for exactly what I want than actually making the card!! Beautiful and more than worth the effort!ReplyCancel

The stamp is from Quietfire Design – google it. Suzanne does lovely calligraphy and turns it into rubber. She’s one of my all time favorite sentiment folks and Becca uses her a lot, too. She’s in Canada, but ships quickly and reasonably to the US. The good thing about this right now, is that the exchange rate favors US – we get more “bang” for our buck – our dollars go further. Go check her out…well worth it!ReplyCancel

How beautiful!! Why is everything you do so gorgeous!?! If I tried to put that corner on a card it would look dopey. But when you do it, it lends just the right touch. Absolutely beautiful. Love the new Venise Lace line, BTW. (So happy my birthday is coming up – I have this on my wish list!!!) :-DReplyCancel

A beautiful creation Becca and a beautiful anniversary sentiment! My husband and I just shared our 60th wedding anniversary at a surprise party, so I know what this sentiment means whole heartedly. It took us days to recover from the surprise and all the memories it brought back that even after 60 years we never spoke of but treasured in our hearts! Hugs DianneReplyCancel
