Introducing S4-793 Spellbinders Gossamer Knot Ensemble by Becca Feeken - information at www.amazingpapergrace.com
Hi there, welcome to the Introducing Venise Lace Blog Hop with the Amazing Paper Grace Creative Team.  Today we are introducing my new die collection called Venise Lace.  It’s never enough to see just the die, so each of the Creative Team has taken two of the dies and woven them into the types of gifts and cards you like to create and send – these are “doable” projects that let you see the beauty of the dies.  As the designer, I have to say that what I gave them was just a die and what they created was beyond what I dreamed and you can do that too :-)  Enjoy the journey!  I’ll list all of the creative team so that you don’t miss a beat but don’t forget, each of us will be giving away an Amazing Paper Grace die pulled from the comments left – one from each blog.  The prize details are at the bottom of my post.  So, without further ado let me talk about the two dies I get to introduce:

First up is Spellbinders S4-793 Venise Lace – Gossamer Knot Ensemble
Introducing S4-793 Spellbinders Gossamer Knot Ensemble by Becca Feeken - information at www.amazingpapergrace.com

For my project I created a small set of gift cards for giving.  So many of my friends want thank you cards at hand.  These can be personalized because a different color ribbon can be threaded in between the motifs.  Also a small rectangular piece of paper can be threaded between the spokes to hold your sentiment or adhered.  These mini-cards are 4″ x 3″.

I loved playing around with the Gossamer Knot Ensemble! There are four dies in the envelope.  Each of the main pieces can be cut as an inlay or in conjunction with the rims so that you can cut out the whole panels.  I found them to be a good size for a background and ‘coincidentally’ the inserts are interchangeable with the inserts for the Filigree Booklet. :-)

Second up is Spellbinders S6-124 Venise Lace – Mini Card/Booklet Gift Box

I created a matching gift box for the cards I made.  The Gossamer Knot Insert seats into the top of the box as an inlay or can be cut and adhered to the top.  The second inlay is an embellishment to the front and sides of the box.  The finished box is 4.5″ x 2″ x 3.5.   It’s a nice way to give a gift or to give a gift of a card set. It conveniently holds a set of cards or several books – even the thicker bound ones made with Filigree Booklet.

There is an instruction sheet that comes with the dies that shows how to put the box together – it’s very easy.  Another happy coincidence – if you have the Filigree Booklet from Vintage Elegance in your collection – those inserts work with this gift box as well!!

Availability

These dies are currently unavailable.

Prizes:
There are five dies that are being given away. One name will be randomly picked from comments left on each of our five blogs on the APG Creative Team May Blog Hop post between June 13 and June 16, 2017 at midnight US CST and our international friends can participate!  The randomly selected names will be announced on the Amazing Paper Grace Blog on June 17th.

Up for grabs is an Amazing Paper Grace die of your choice from the Vintage Elegance Collection; there will be a total of five dies and a winner can win once among all five blogs.   If your name is selected, simply claim it within 2 weeks of announcement by sending your address through the form under the Contact Tab on the Amazing Paper Grace Blog.  The dies will be mailed out by me, once I’ve received your winning info and choice.

    Hi Becca,
I took a moment to comment on your new die. The packing can wait!
Being a weaver, I’m fascinated with this new die as I love interlacing ribbon, photo strips and card stock on my cards. Can’t wait until I move so I can set up my craft room. So many ideas and no space to work. But that will change in a few months.
    Hugs, SaraReplyCancel

It’s popular in the UK and Europe and just starting to get noticed in the USA. It’s a wonderful product that you can use with dies. The flowers are gorgeous with it. I’ve just received some and thought of you and your gorgeous cards when I saw the product. Hi Becca, Congratulations on another wonderful collection! All the creations using these dies were a joy to see, all very inspiring. Well done to you & your team on all the creations. I am so happy that the Gossamer Knot Ensemble is interchangeable with the Filigree booklet. I love & want all these new dies. They are all so beautiful, I don’t think it is possible to have 1 favourite. I do believe though that this new APG collection will be my favourite to date.

    Hi Becca,

You are the best so no surprise that you chose a terrific team to showcase your dies. I really enjoy the added input to applying design and technique to your products. Now I check out their web sites in addition to yours on a regular basis. Hope you love your role as chief creator. Continue to develop new ideas for us. Thanks. Gossamer Knot Ensemble caught my fancy. Your previously released die for the booklet is out of stock everywhere but when it returns, I’ll be getting it.

Some links may be affiliate links, buying products through these links generates a commission at no cost to you.

In the meantime today is Day of Giving Friday where I’m sending this card off to one of my readers (including international) who comments.  I’m sharing something I had not shared here before and I hope you’ll enjoy the steps out that show how to make it.  I don’t know why, but I have baskets *full* of washi tape.  I don’t use them often but jump when I find a nice way to include them with cards.  In that endeavor I used the Graceful Frame Maker Tool to create an overlay or frame to put on a card.  So many of the washi tapes are beautiful and I hope to use more of them in this way.

Graceful Frame Maker Tutorial

1. Start out with a 6-1/2″ cream card base and layer with a 6-1/4″ gold matting layer and 6″ cream layer.

2. Cut a 6″ square piece of card stock with the S6-112 Graceful Frame Maker giving you 4 triangles. Together, cut the tip of the group of triangles off so that you are left with 1-3/4″ depth (the piece shown on the left, above).

3.  Emboss each of the four pieces with SES-001 Overlapping Circles Embossing Folder. (See above)

4. Tape all four pieces together on the back to create a mitered frame layer. Stamp sentiment on 4 x 4″ panel and attach directly to card before attaching frame layer with foam tape. (see above)

This is such a beautiful card Becca, and really beautiful made. I´m the same have lots of washitape lying around, but hardly ever use it, to be honest, but it really looks great the way you´ve used it here, so maybe I should drag it out again and try to get some of it used here he he.

  • MarilynYJune 9, 2017 - 5:29 am

This card is so sweet. This gives me a good reason to work with my Graceful 6 x 6 Frame maker. I usually work on creating cards alone but spend one day of the week working on samples that will be used for the classes I conduct 4x a month. These classes are for the women’s church groups and the card clubs I belong to. Doing this prompts me to continue utilizing the massive amount of supplies I have and the continuing collection of dies. I also get to try out different layouts that I envision or have viewed elsewhere. And I’m always encouraging my friends to relax and sit awhile and create a card while we chat. If card making is not their calling then I can always get another type of project to work on that may interest them. I am a retired art teacher and have a room full of numerous craft supplies. Sharing time, a cup of coffee and crafting together makes for a strong friendship.ReplyCancel

Beautiful card, as always, Becca. When I’m making cards to send, I craft alone but I have been teaching craft on cruise ships for 12 years and through that encourage others. There have been lots of ladies who have never done any sort of craft before who get the bug after coming to my classes and many have stayed in touch with me. Quite a few tell me that I am responsible for a diminishing bank balance because of all the tools and materials they go out and buy!!

I have never used washi tape and you make it look so easy. Again your card is beautiful and clever. Thank you. Any chance I get I will encourage people to make their own cards. I have four grandchildren who wipe me out of embellishments every time they come. Once one came with a card with at least $5 worth of embellishments on the card. She was so proud, and so was grandma. Thank you again.ReplyCancel

    GOOD MORNING DEAR LADY,
Love this card and remember when you introduced the die almost a year ago now. I of course purchased and have to admit that I usually only craft once a week and have not as yet used it. Going to real soon, maybe hubbies birthday card!
I craft with a group once a week and encourage all of these ladies to use my dies in their cards. We have added a few more people and sometimes when we give our cards, have people who want to learn to make cards so we promote it every chance we get.
Look forward to the blog hop on the 13th.
    Hugs

cool card and that die is on my wish list. I usually craft with friends. we have a group of 5 that gets together 3-4 times a year for a retreat at on of the ladies homes. plus I am in a card making group. I am a slow card maker. I wait for the inspiration the think on it then start to pull it together, then usually edit or totally change it them make it. or I sleep on it for a few days so that it’s what I really want then I don’t have the exact paper or color and run out to get that. I have invited many friends to join us. only a few have stuck with it. and I share your site for inspiration to anyone that will listen. I just love how you pull it all together. thanks!ReplyCancel

  • Joy MossJune 9, 2017 - 7:22 am

Thanks for the tutorial! I’m not a huge fan of washi tape because it doesn’t seem to stick very well to the project. So I use it to temporarily adhere projects to the various Big Shot plates. However, I will give this a try and see where I end up! But I love the end result of your project. The pink layers are so pretty!
Do I craft alone: Most of the time I craft along but once a month a few friends and I get together to create cards through stamping. We’ve become close over the years and greatly enjoy this time together.ReplyCancel

  • KathymJune 9, 2017 - 7:53 am

If someone wants to learn or craft together, I always say yes and make time. Some people see my cards and start taking up the craft on their own. I encourage others by saying “everyone has the creativity gene.” Just try and see where it takes you!ReplyCancel

  • Dianne Schlegel aka the kardladyJune 9, 2017 - 7:58 am

Thank you Becca for the how to and another beautiful card. I do like to craft alone – I don’t even like to have music or the TV on when I craft. I really like to focus on what I’m doing. A few years back (15 or so) I would make 25-75 of each card for my craft shows – as I cut down the craft shows, I cut down the amount of each I make. Now with the die cut cards, I make only one of a kinds – trying to add fabric into each one like I’ve always done because that’s my first love – fabric! There is so much out there and it’s so beautiful. I do like for others to be interested in what I create – there’s little tips and how to’s I’ve shared along the way but I’m still making them to retail them – I have a website and commission them in an art and frame shop but I give many away to friends and family also. Thanks for asking. Hugs DianneReplyCancel

BEAUTIFUL, BECCA! I too have quite a bit of washi tape & haven’t used much of it. I’m SURE I don’t have as much as you do though. LOL But, your card is WONDERFUL & I LOOOOVE your washi tape! DO TELL, WHERE you got it? ;) Yes, I craft alone. I have crafted with others, but I find I don’t get to do my craft when I am with others, for helping them. LOL I can actually make a card when I am by myself! OH YES, I encourage others to pick up this craft, as it has helped me in many ways! ;) It can help others, not only in taking up this craft for one’s self, but using what you’ve made for others… sending or giving a little love & encouragement! ;)It truly is touching to know that someone has thought of YOU & created a special gift/card JUST FOR YOU! But, you know all that! ;)ReplyCancel

Great idea for the bucket of washi tape!! Probably about 75% of my crafting time is alone but I have several stamping buddies and we get together occasionally and have a stamp night at least once a month.ReplyCancel

Hi Clever Lady….lovely card Becca! God has certainly blessed you with an wonderful talent!!!! I mostly craft alone, but do belong to 3 card clubs so interact with these ladies. Also did teach classes before being Jim’s care giver…now that I have downsized and in a one bedroom apartment with my Studio set up along a 14′ wall – and, 3 closets full of organized supplies, I am ready to begin crafting again. Truly think still I have enough supplies to last me the rest of my life – even after the downsizing – LOL!

Such a gorgeous card! Thank you so much for sharing how you made it! I mostly craft alone, though my hubby helps me at times. When my grandchildren are here, we always do some type of crafting…depending on which ones are here, as I have four grandchildren different ages. A friend’s daughter came to craft with me one day and is planning on coming back. I always encourage anyone at any age to pick up a craft and for sure enjoy teaching others what I have learned myself.

This is stunning and your step by step instructions are great, thank you.

    Happy Friday, Becca,
It sounds like you’re definitely not alone in the washi tape department. Thanks for inspiring us to get it out and use it!
For me, creating/crafting is primarily a solitary activity. In August, however, I am visiting my twin sister and we plan lots of time in her fabulous crafting room sharing a bunch of the ‘fun fold techniques’ that have captured my imagination. Can’t wait!
I’m excited about your blog hop next week, also. The Amazing Paper Grace Design Team is inspired, for sure!

Hi Bacca, this is lovely! I need to pull this die out & give it a try. I craft alone as I am time restricted, but my daughter does like to join me sometimes. I have rubbed off a little on her with the craft bug. I only do paper crafts, but am happy to see that she is interested in sewing as well. She has now started taking classes which comes to a surprise to a lot of people, as she is only 10. I am happy she has taken it up, as I was terrible at it lol & never gave it a chance, probably because I did not enjoy it. I winge about mending a button haha except if its for crafts lol I llok forward to your hop next week. Ooh I can’t wait for the new line!

    What a beautiful inspiring card!

As for myself, I tend to prefer to craft alone and it is because I suffer from many painful chronic illnesses. So even if I plan a day with fellow crafters I cannot guarantee that my body will cooperate on that day. Now I am diagnosed with Dysautonomia which means that my Automatic Involuntary Nervous system is failing. It ios the one that controls breathing, heart rate, blood pressure and muscles that we do not have to think about it happening it does it on its own.ReplyCancel

Beautiful card. I have this die and going to get it out and try this idea. You are so talented! I create cards alone. Once a month I join a stamp club group and we make 4 cards and enjoy a dinner together. I have encouraged my older sister to start “playing with paper” and she is now hooked! A dear friend always enjoyed the cards I made for her and now I have her hooked. We are getting together next week for a card making shopping trip. Can’t wait to take her to my favorite store. Your dies are on my list of items for her to purchase (I used one of your dies on her last card and she fell in love with it).ReplyCancel

This card is soooo sweet! Really pretty!
I usually craft alone but run a weekly class at Church to encourage others to have a go! Our 3 eldest members are 95, almost 95 and 91 and they love their afternoon out – tea, coffee, biscuits, friendship, fellowship and fun – and cakes when it’s someone’s birthday and ice creams on hot days!
A couple of the Mums sometimes bring their children, so we encompass all ages. It is pure delight seeing the pleasure that comes from completing a card or project – and such a blessing!

Good morning sweet peeps!  I’ve finally made it back home but while I was travelling the creative team was busy at work! I didn’t think it was possible, but they’ve really dug in to show some wonderful alternatives with the Vintage Elegance Dies.    This is going to be a lengthy posts, but this week you’ll see some of the dies in use that you haven’t seen before like the tiny tags that Melissa is using – this is what they look like in real life :-) Kristi has a stunning creation that has never entered my mind but no wedding should be without.  Joanna is showing a lovely visually textured way with flowers. Teresa takes us through the whole gamut of giving – and an easy to make gift!  Stay with us to the end, the video that Anita promised, she indeed filmed! I’m linking to it so you can see exactly how she took a simple flower assembly and shazzammed it into something else.  There’s more info on each blog about how to make, so if you click through the links on the designers name to the original cards, in many cases the instructions will be there.

Melissa Bove  jumped straight out of the box and turned Spellbinders S4-731 Filigree Bookmark Tag set die on it’s side!  She used the filigree as the inlay for a card and the half fan header as a decorative focal piece on her card.  If you look closely, she pulled one of the sweet mini tags and used the Read Me sentiment on from the Spellbinders SDS-053 Petite Tags and Stamp Set.  If you pop over to Melissa blog – she walks you through the steps on exactly how to make them with close ups of each piece individually.

Kristi Schurr made me gasp when I realized what she had made.  It’s so sweet!  Think about it – someone is getting married and you want a way for them to have their vows for a keepsake.  Kristi created a little book that the bride and groom each can write their vows into that can be saved for their legacy.  It would be so easy to have the interior printed and inserted into the booklet before the ceremony so that each could have them at the alter. She took the Spellbinders S5-289 Filigree Booklet Die and computer generated a sentiment on the rectangle from Spellbinders SDS-054 Giving Occasions Stamp and Die Set.  Yes, this is an elegant look, so for her second creation, she’s showing you a card made from the same dies that becomes a birthday card – all with the same charm!  But wait – I actually was on Kristi’s blog reading how she constructed when she outlined that the second card is a full sized card with two repeats of the filigree motif.  You must pop over to read how she did it!

Joanna Krogulec has such a way with flowers!  She added the perfect embellishments and paper choices to make Spellbinders S3-251 Round Fold and Go Flower unique again!  Feathers, twine and tulle add so much texture that resonates perfectly with her dimensional background.  You can see a “How to” on assembling the basic flower HERE.   I love how Joanna used Spellbinders S4-733 Braided Grace Squares as a base for her creation.  Check out her second creation using book pages with the flower – yep, you had me at book pages :-)

Teresa Horner has a eye full to share today – be sure to scroll down through all three back to back posts on her blog.  I would never have thought of this but she combined  Spellbinders SDS-055 Beautiful Dreamers Die and Stamp Set with Spellbinders S4-703 Graceful Fans Border as a unique layering set.  I just imagine that as occasions come up, switching out the sentiment makes for a go to, easy to make card.

Oh, and then have a look at a the bookmark gift that Teresa made.  Both Melissa and Teresa have crafted unforgettable bookmarks that anyone would love to place in their book.  The bookmarks are both created so that the book page goes in between the filigree and the back flap with the gorgeous spray that sticks out on the top.  This Spellbinders S4-731 Filigree Bookmark Tag set ie also functions as a tag:-)

For her last creation, Teresa reminds us that if you ever struggle with colors, tone on tone is the way to go!!  She used Spellbinders S4-733 Braided Grace Squares to make a stunning, on point card!

Anita Kejriwal shared a creation make with stunning card flowers last week that I could hard believe had been made with  Spellbinders S3-251 Round Fold and Go Flower.  She’s back with another flower card made with Spellbinders Vintage Elegance Curled Grace Oval, Spellbinders S4-731 Filigree Bookmark Tag set and Spellbinders S3-251 Round Fold and Go Flowers to show us how she made them in a video.  After you’ve made the basic flower as Joanna has done above, you definitely want to try out your skills with this version.  Anita add texture and depth to a natively flat, simple flower. The coolest thing is that by creating the way Anita does, you leave room to thread stamens through the center of the flowers!  Check the video link below!!  Anita has one last creation to share today as well and that’s a lovely card made using the Spellbinders S4-731 Filigree Bookmark Tag set as panels!!  It creates a grand base!!
