Today I’m sharing a card that I used flashy gold on for a graduation celebration but it just as easily doubles as an encouragement card.   It’s dimensional but can be made as flat as need be.  The card rests on a 5.5″ x 7.5″ base that is matted with design paper an gold.  The focal image is made of several elements in my new Vintage Elegance Collection, which is back in stock.   I used two of the Spellbinders Filigree Tag/Bookmark dies as an embellishment by trimming and letting the ends peek out on the bottom and the top.  Next I ran velvet and gold ribbon across the card – ribbon hides so much of what is going on behind ;-).   From the Spellbinders Beautiful Dreamer set, the die portion is cut as a frame, bowed to give dimension and glued behind the ribbon – it’s really quite regal.  (I imagine doing this for a little girls princess card :-))  The sentiment is stamped on the insert that comes with Beautiful Dreamer stamp and die set and I decorated the ends with two of the tiny decorative tags from Spellbinders Graceful Tiny Tags. For this collection I was determined to have some smaller elements that could double duty as embellishments with lots of possibilities :-)  Oh, and don’t forget the tassel – I think that’s what allows me to call it a Graduation card, lol!

    Oh Becca,
What a beautiful card!!! You really do think out-side of the box. Bold and gold accents really make your cards “more special” and the velvet ribbon, just over the top. Thank you for sharing!

Your cards always take my breathe away! I have only been to one reunion — a family reunion of my relatives on my father’s side that I had not seen since I was in high school (50+ years ago). Almost all of my aunts and uncles have been deceased for quite a few years (including my father), but it was so great to spend time with cousins during a long weekend at Lake Kentucky. It is a trip I will always remember.ReplyCancel

I think my most memorable reunion was the year my mom passed away. We all had not had a get together in years and when she died it reminded us that we should never take family for granted. I know she would have been so happy we were all gathered once more and we talked about her so much that it was almost like she really was among us. Becca, I also just wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing us to be able to enjoy your world and making everyone of us a little part of your family. I don’t guess I will ever get to meet you this side of Heaven but I can’t wait to give you a big ol’ hug some day. God bless…Denice with a “c”ReplyCancel

Beautiful graduation card Becca. My favorite reunion was with my high school clothing design teacher, Lois Melton. A friend surprised me for my birthday a few years ago. When she came to pick me up for lunch, my high school teacher was in the car. It was a wonderful reunion.ReplyCancel

  • Donna JeanApril 28, 2017 - 3:16 pm

Such beauty!! I’ve been wondering how your cards hold up so sturdy using the 80 lb cardstock with all the layers. When I use the wet glue to hold all the layers, I find I require at least 100-110 lb paper. Am I missing something? Can anyone help me here?ReplyCancel

    • Joni SApril 28, 2017 - 3:42 pm

I use 100 lb for the base, too. Just makes for a sturdier card all the way around, imo.ReplyCancel

    • Becca FeekenApril 28, 2017 - 6:25 pm

I wonder if the wet glue makes them heavy? I’m good most of the time unless I put a heavy button and more than 3 layers :-)ReplyCancel

  • Barbara TranquillaApril 28, 2017 - 3:35 pm

    Hi Becca,

Whether I win a card from you or not, I am always a winner when you share a new posted design. Your dies are so classy–basic, versatile, and enduring. I have most of them and always look forward to how you re-use the old with the new. I’ll try this combination when the new dies come in the mail.

50th High school reunion was most memorable because everyone was a much kinder, caring, friendlier person than years ago. Aging has its benefits.

Thanks for your card idea, BarbaraReplyCancel

Barbara, I so agree. Love and kindness becomes easier over the years as you practice. I’ve seen this in my own life.ReplyCancel

  • Joni SApril 28, 2017 - 3:40 pm

What a yummy card, Becca – love the colors together – so lush! Best reunion I’ve ever experienced – we had an open adoption with our two kiddos – siblings – but for a variety of reasons it was too painful for their birth mom to see them and I don’t think she really trusted that I was ok with her seeing the kids right away. So it was two very long years before they saw their birth mom after I adopted them. Best, most right thing I ever did as a mom though, was keep asking and making that opportunity available to her. They are grownups now and have a good relationship with her. There always was room enough for all of us and they needed to believe and know that she loved them, she just wasn’t able to care for them day-to-day.ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca,
What a beautiful card. I love the idea how you added the tassle for the graduation. My favourite reunion was when I went back overseas to my families country of origin & met up with aunts, uncles and cousins. It had been 20 years since I had seen them last. A happy & sad occasion as my grandparents were no longer around & it felt like something is missing. How wonderful it is, we live in a world were we can now communicate with someone overseas in an instant.
    Congratulations to all the winner!

    Hello Becca,
This is truly beautiful and the tassel is a delightful touch.
I’ve been missing as I decided to throw myself onto the ground and fracture my hip, so I’m walking rather slowly with the help of a zimmer frame!!!
My memorable reunions are the ones every six months when I meet up with my crafting buddies from all over the U.K. and one even comes over from Europe, they make me feel so loved and happy. Unfortunately I missed this month’s because of my accident, but roll on October!

I met one of my grade school teachers when I was donating my dad’s construction tools to a vocational technical school for newly migrated individuals. He is now one of the founders and teachers at the go-tech school. Such a giving and caring person. I felt young again as if I was in grade school but with new appreciation and insight to the gifts this teacher shared with everyone. He is such an inspiration!ReplyCancel

  • Cathy UrichApril 28, 2017 - 4:13 pm

My most memorable reunion was in 2016. We learned that my grandfather fathered a child in England during WWII. He never knew his father’s name, but had pics. As a result of Ancestry.com DNA, he found us. Then we found out that my grandfather fathered another son in Virginia. My dad thought that he was my grandfather’s only son. Last year, the three brothers met for the first time. It was amazing, and they are soooo much alike. I was excited, scared and extremely happy all at the same time for them.

And we all understand that you are very busy, but thank you so much for getting our winning cards in the mail. God bless you.ReplyCancel

This is such a gorgeous card, Becca! There are so many parts to it that I can only imagine the time that it took to construct it. My most memorable reunion was the first one my soon-to-be husband took me to 26 years ago. There were 40+ people there from his family whom I had never met. He introduced me, and then walked away. I could not believe he had done that to me! But, his relatives were so warm and welcoming! I married into a wonderful family!ReplyCancel

  • SuzzieQApril 28, 2017 - 7:49 pm

Your card today is awesome, delightful, and beautiful. The reunion I remember the best was the first family reunion that I remember from age 4 years old. It was held at my great-grandparents home and lots of people were there. Many wooden tables were set up under the old oak trees in the front yard which had been broom swept. Can you taste the red dust? It’s good we have lawnmowers now! Besides all those aunts, uncles and cousins by the dozens giving loving hugs and kisses, I enjoyed the bounty of food. The food I enjoyed the most was a watermelon my Great-grandfather grew on his farm. It was YELLOW. I had never seen a yellow watermelon before this time. Now, everytime I see one in the grocery store, it takes me back to that special family reunion where love was spread around as thick as molasses.ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca,
Glad to see you got all caught up, only I didn’t win. Actually, I’m a winner every time I see one of your cards. This is sure a little different than your usual – no Becca bow but the tassle is delightful in this instance.
As far as reunions go, I will be attending Scrapbook Expo next week and that in itself is a reunion of all the friends you made the year or two before. But the end of May, I am going to New York for a week to attend my 55 year Class Reunion from high school. Hope there will be most of my fellow classmates there. I am the one who always travels the farthest to get there. Know I will enjoy it as the last time I was there was 5 years ago.
Enjoy your timee in Canada, Becca.

Oh my wow what a gorgeous card!!!!! The designer paper enhances your beautiful die cuts perfectly!!!

My most memorable reunion? I remember my 20th high school reunion (won’t say how LONG ago that was!). The short version is that I was voted most changed, which was the best compliment I could have ever received! In high school I can’t even describe my shyness and how introverted I was. It took me a long time, but I showed myself that change can happen if one desires it enough. My motto now a days is “life begins at the end of your comfort zone!” So true for me!! Woohoo!! Thank you God! :)ReplyCancel

What a beautiful card! I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us! On April 15th, we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary. My cousin’s was like a brother to me and passed away 11 years ago. His daughter was a flower girl in our wedding. She drove 6 hrs. just to attend our anniversary party. Her younger brother flew from Pensacola to Austin to Houston to St. Louis and then drove another 12 hours (round trip) to attend our party. I hadn’t seen him since 2004! He missed Easter dinner with his family just to come. We were on a natural high with the turn out for our anniversary celebration, and these two cousins (who traveled so far) was the icing on our cake, the cherry on the sundae. We are truly blessed with 2 great sons, daughter-in-law (who is just like a daughter to us) and two of the most perfect, beautiful grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Sorry this is so long!ReplyCancel

    Dear Becca,
I hope u read this!! In December 2015 I was able to make the trip to see my dear friend Deb. We only had a few days together but that Christmas Day was the most wonderful gift I could ever ask for. I had seen her before I moved in May 2014, so getting to go be with her at Christmas was ever so special because she usually would go to her brothers for the holidays. The day after Christmas she and I had so much fun doing what we do best!! I taught her how to use her Anna Griffin minc machine. This is the best part…. she had several packages open but not all the way opened. So I started snooping (with permission of course) and she had the fuse by WeRMK and lots of good stuff to do with it, she had totally forgotten she had this! I have one and knew what all it could do so I was able to share what this tool could do, of course the card stuff she had to use with the fuse was right up her ally!! What a wonderful time, now she is with God and our next reunion will be one of rejoice!

Love the reds in the velvet ribbon, the dsp, and peeking out from behind the dsp. It gives it such a rich look! the gold spellbinder die cut and the tassel add to the richness. Most memorable reunion: Watching my daughters’ reactions when they saw their father after returning from two years in Afghanistan. Both are adult children. The youngest nearly took him through a window because she jumped so hard at him. The oldest, who was in her classroom where she teaches, broke down crying and wouldn’t let go. When I picked him up at the airport, I just stood there staring at him.ReplyCancel

Hello, Becca. I’m new to your blog, having found it through looking at your dies on the Spellbinders website. I want to say that the above card is, for me, breathtakingly beautiful, and I have ordered the dies! Oh how wonderful it will be to make some anniversary and birthday cards with these! Thank you for designing such lovely, lovely dies for the rest of us to enjoy using and for our card-recipients to enjoy. I was further warmed in reading your blog to learn that you are a Christian who tries to live out her life in His name at all times and in all places. Thank you for your Christian witness. Thank you for being you. I also read about the loss of your dear husband, John, and I want to send to you my heartfelt condolences. I am adding you to my prayer list, asking Our Lord, to lift you up unto Himself that you may in every moment of the day receive His strength, encouragement, comfort, and courage. God bless you, Becca. I look forward to reading your blog and newsletter. I have susbscribed. Blessings to you this day and always, Elizabeth Hansen, Chester County, PAReplyCancel

Isn’t life so interesting and exciting??? I just completed a two week reunion with my ex-sister.in.law from Pennsylvania who I haven’t seen in 35 years. She divorced my brother but we didn’t di vorce each other. We spent every day trying to catch up for all the years apart. Emails and letters were sufficient but doesn’t have the depth that a physical reunion provides. Besides touring the island to relive those yester years, we ate and talked and laughed all day and night. We figured we could catch up with sleep and rest after this reunion was over. I marvel how we just fell into the mode of deep friendship and respect. Though we may never meet again considering our age, I firmly believe this was the Lord’s gift to us….a lifetime friendship.ReplyCancel

Such a beautifully regal card, Becca! Love the gold and the velvet ribbon over those layers!
A family funeral was the occasion which brought about a reunion of all the cousins who had grown up together, but moved away. Such sweet sorrow. It was a reminder that we should do today – not put off till tomorrow those opportunities to reconnect with friends and family!

Gatefold Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire Design - Reminding One Another of the Dream, Spellbinders Water Lilies Strip, Spellbinders Nouille Decorative Element - full linked supply list at www.amazingpapergrace.com
Greetings friends!! I’m so sorry how late this is in the afternoon, but I’ve been working on something important and changing that is blessing me beyond measure and is going to bless you too.  Lots of legwork, lots of planning but I’ll try not to tease and be so cryptic – rest assured, you’ll know soon.  In the meantime – I have a card to share today for Day of Giving Friday and as always I picked a sentiment that resonates big time with the sweetness that has surrounded me this week.  To the rescue – Quietfire Design with Reminding One Another of the Dream
Gatefold Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire Design - Reminding One Another of the Dream, Spellbinders Water Lilies Strip, Spellbinders Nouille Decorative Element - full linked supply list at www.amazingpapergrace.com
Today I’m sharing a Gatefold Card.  It is made by cutting two border elements from Spellbinders Water Lilies Strip at each end of an 8.5″x 11″ piece of paper, trimming any excess, scoring so that the borders meet in the middle.   I didn’t want the liner card to fall out so inside I pasted a little pocket about 1.5″ tall.  Then for the inside – I wanted an element to be pulled out separately.  I used Spellbinders Nouille Decorative Element and added a handcut matted element with the stamped sentiment.  I like that option to be able to pull the sentiment out separately :-)  The final size is 5-1/4″ x 7-1/4″ :-)

    Hi, Becca,
I love it when you’re excited about seeing a dream coming to fruition! I think this is what today’s sentiment is telling us. When we feel joy in another’s dream it becomes our joy and sets our spirits free. It certainly has that effect on me – I feel happy and I wasn’t feeling that way a few minutes ago. I can’t wait for the blessings that are to come. ;->)
What a gorgeous card! My immediate thought was-WEDDING!!! In any event, you know there’s something special inside and the receiver must be pretty special, too!

Good Morning sweet friends!  I hope you are making preparations for a family filled weekend that makes your holiday special.  I’m prepping kits for some upcoming event so the week has been full of binge watching some tv shows while I’m cutting.   Well, that’s more binge listening but I love a good series when I have time to see it at once – I’m not good at waiting week to week.  So,  I’m popping in today for a short Day of Giving Friday post – very short :-)  I shared this card previously on the Spellbinders Blog but someone asked if it would make it into the giveaway pile.  And I said, yep!!

This card is built on a base that is 5-1/2″x 7-1/2″.  I used Spellbinders S4-707 Graceful Damask Border to cut along the sides.  The side mounted borders give your card a very tall look and is really a kind of unique presentation when you do it to the back also.  I mounted the sentiment on a panel cut using Spellbinders S5-250 Art Deco Astoria Labels.  Lastly, to give a touch of elegance to the flowers, I added the flourish from Spellbinders S6-082 Classic Elegance Label.  I can’t wait to try this format with some of the other borders!

Love the sentiment on this card – and as always the card is so perfectly elegant! Today – I’m grateful for the silliness of a pregnant giraffe – who for the past few weeks has kept my mind light and calm in the midst of a politically troubled world. The grace of God in a giraffe for me.

    Blessings, and happy Easter, Becca!

Beautiful card! You create such beautiful cards and so willing to share with all of us. Tomorrow, my husband and I celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. My husband told me last night I was the best thing that ever happened to him. He wouldn’t have had the success in life without me beside him, loving and supporting him. I feel truly blessed. Our dear friend found out this past week he has cancer. He said he may have cancer in his body, but he has Jesus in his heart and he will be just fine. Can’t ask for anything better.
