Christmas Cardinals and a Tutorial

Greetings!  I’m back to share a Christmas card with you today.  I have to admit that once I start making Christmas cards the slope is very slippery and if I’m not careful, it’s all I want to stamp.  Well this was a pleasure today as I perused all my Christmas paper – what an indulgence.  The only thing missing was the hot chocolate!

My friend Michelle at Stampers Dream sent me this dreamy image to color up and seeing cardinals in the yard yesterday (at least I hope that was what they were) gave me the inspiration I needed to touch markers to the image.  When I opened my mail from Splitcoast I saw the sketch for SC243 and sat down to work!  This is one of  many Northwoods Rubber Stamps she has in stock; this one is called Holly and Cardinals Oval.   I was tickled how easily it colored up – lol, the magic is in the artwork.   I used Tombow Markers, which if you have never tried, are rich with pigment and make something like this so easy.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Stampers Dream (Northwoods Rubber Stamp – Holly and Cardinals Oval
Paper:  Me and My Big Ideas, The Paper Company
Ink:  Memento – Lady Bug, Versafine Black Onyx and Clear Embossing Powder
Accessories:  Ribbon, Spellbinders Standard Ovals Large, Tombow Markers

So you may be curious why I said to be sure to stop in and see me today.  Do you remember this?

Well I received so many emails on how to make these ornaments and life was soooooo busy pre-CHA that I simply did not have the time.  Well, the tutorial is in the Resources Gallery over at Splitcoaststampers!!  I’ve done both a step-by-step tutorial and a video tutorial – you can see them HERE!

Thanks so much for your kind words on this ornament and for all the requests for me to develop it into a tutorial.

I hope you’ll try it out – if you do, be sure to upload your work to the Technique Spotlight Gallery HERE so that we can all see!  Happy Stamping and Papercrafting, friends!!
