Sweet blog friends, I hope you are embarking on a fabulous Monday!! Me? There are lots of little projects on my desk and I’m having a distracted time trying to make myself finish off some pressing deadlines before jumping on another idea that pops into my head. Ever have that happen to you? While I was taking a break over the weekend it dawned on me that every Christmas I make a simple red and white card. I just love the pop of the color, so I cranked this out very quickly. It’s much simpler than what I normally make but I didn’t want it to get complicated, keeping the color the focal point. My sweet friend Suzanne with Quietfire Design put some amazing Christmas Stamps in my hand this season and this one was calling out to be framed – Christmas Waves a Magic Wand.
I started out with a white card base and added the fully embossed motif from Spellbinders™ M-Bossabilities™ Winter Wonders (Side B). I mounted the embossed panel, matted with red onto my card base. Using Spellbinders™ Marvelous Squares and the second and third largest templates, I created my frame. I lined my frame with a negative cutout left over from cutting Spellbinders™ Labels Twenty Six – taking care to make sure that none of the red showed on the outside of my frame. Next, I added a layer of foam tape under each layer to elevate the frame and give it some depth. Lastly a big bow :-) Many of you ask how I tie them, and would you be surprised if I told you that 99% of the bows I make are made using the Peg Bow Maker? It comes with a DVD that shows the double and triple bows I make – mystery solved!!

Not just for cards, but also for decorating other stuff, like wreaths, presents, swags, etc. The need for bows at Christmas is never-ending. Thanks for your post. Enjoyed it as always.

Stunning card, Becca. I love the simplicity of the colour scheme, but then you showcase those two colours with the beauty of the die cuts. I just have to make this one. Many thanks.

My first thought was the simple beauty! Then I thought, “Wait, Becca doesn’t do simple!” LOL! But with all the wonderful layers, die-cutting, embossing and ribbon, it’s not all that simple! Just simply beautiful! :o)
Happy Monday to you Becca! I took one look at your red and white card and I said “OMG, I love this, and NEED to buy that embossing folder!” It is now on order, along with the pine tree folder, plus three others! Your card is absolutely gorgeous and strikingly beautiful. The first of the year when I start making my cards for 2013 (that’s what I’m saying now) I’ll be trying my best to duplicate your card.
