Whew, it took me a minute to figure that one out, ha ha, BUT I understood blog candy immediately :). Thanks for the opportunity to win. I’m always looking for a great sale and I do LOVE those 40% off coupons you get from JoAnn’s, Michael’s, and Hobby Lobby. I’ve had many good “buys” but my latest has to be the Cricut Imagine machine I won on Ebay at a fab price. I love the end of season and holiday clearance. I really think you get a lot of bang for your buck and you are always ready for the following year. Michael’s is the best for this. Whoo-hoo! Who doesn’t love a bargain??? Whether it is a yard sale, the dollar store, or ClaireAntsSawLay- I am there. One of the best I can remember is at ACMoore- between clearance and sale items coupled with a 50% off coupon and my rewards card $10 off coupon, I garnered at least $100 worth of goodies for $30. We live several hundred miles from any large center so I don’t get to shop except online but try to ferret out the best prices when I am shopping for supplies. I live a long way from a larger center, too. We don’t get the deals here like they do in the bigger cities. My one recollection was going to Michaels a few years ago (about 2 1/2 hrs from home) and we just happened to be there on a Friday (which never happens) and they had a 1/2 price sale on Cricut cartridges. Of course it was the last day of the sale so everything I wanted was gone. One of the employees asked if I needed help, so I asked about the sale. She said she could write up rain checks for whatever I wanted. Whaaa??? I didn’t know they did that! Awesome. I ended up with 6 new cartridges for half the price. Yay!

Claire Ants and I are best friends!! I currently have posted on my blog my tale of my best bargain to date. To summarize: Michael’s 90% off bin (bitty notebooks to embellish) + 25% off full purchase coupon x 15 notebooks = total cost $1.05 + 6% sales tax = $1.11 for 15 notebooks. Homemade embellies cost another $0.75 … less than $2! All produced in 30 minutes. Sold them out at a craft show for $30.00 ($2 x 15) for teacher gifts. $28 profit!! YAY!!

Jo Ann’s has had some clearance not long ago when they switched to another brand of stamps. I hit the jack pot with them. Along time ago Hobby Lobby had wood mount stamps 1/2 clearance. That was the last time for that. I got more then I have used but enjoyed the high. Clothing clearing is the other sale I take advantage. Hope I can win. Love that paper. First of all thank you for sharing your wonderful God given talent with us. I love a good deal so I am always on the hunt for one. I use as many coupons as possible. I even have my DH go with me so he can check out using a coupon also. The clearance section is where I love to shop. Right after Christmas JC Pennys was having a clearance sell on Cashmere sweaters. I own a dog eared book entitled “Never Pay Retail”. My husband shakes his head in wonder as I collect coupons (paper or code), wait for sales, and strategize. It’s like a game to me, and the big scores are so exciting! I just purchased 45 Stampin Up ink pads and 45 reinkers for $172.50. (Ebay auction) Retail cost with s&h about $500, I paid $187. I’m a home body by choice so when internet shopping became so popular I was thrilled. One Christmas I went to K-mart to do some Christmas shopping and they were having the blue light special sale. I thought I was going to get run over by crashing shopping carts but I survived, I don’t know how, would I do it again, probably not crowds always scare me. I always love it when I go shopping and there is a sale that I knew nothing about I always call them sale surprises, these are my favorite kind of sales, I feel as if I just had a piece of luck fall into my lap. I don’t use clearance as much as I ought to, but to me the best was the Cricut Design Studio for $24 at Walmart…..I was sooooo excited…got it home and opened it up and the box was empty…haha…I paid $24 for an empty box…..now the dilema was, they only had 1 other “box” when I bought this set…so how do I get the store to believe me when I take it back….oh the cord was in it…I forgot…….so I go back, furious as I live in the country and had to drive ALL the way back….they took it, no questions asked…so I go and grab the other and take it to the service counter to open and look inside and guess what…NO cord……so they gave me the cord from one I returned…..I just hope whomever “stole” the other is happy with themselves…I guess some people just don’t care…..nuff said…except that Walmart now carries the Design Studio again for $67…go figure!ReplyCancel

Love getting a deal. I hit the clearance racks anywhere I go. My granddaughters know we NEVER shop regular prices. If I isn’t on sale, don’t even think about asking to buy it. It is fun to watch them now when we go into a store or when they shop on their own, they head right for clearance or makdowns. I have gotten craft supplies on e-bay….love it! Like everyone else, I’m not a big fan of paying full price for items. I try and be cost conscious, but at the same time, I do try and consider spending full price on some items at my favorite scrapbooking store, just to support their business. My favorite deal was buying my Big Shot on ebay that included the serif letters!ReplyCancel

Becca tax day was extended to the 18th because when President Lincoln freed the slaves he signed the amapation act on April 15th and it is a holiday when it falls on Friday this holiday is only celebrated in Washington DC.

I buy anything and everything that is on clearance. I always use it! I love the Dollarama that we have here…the best deals there are the rhinestones/pearls that are $3 everywhere and are $1 there! I even got them 2 for $1 one time. I buy every color that they have in stock whenever I go there. I have also found magnetic sheets there very reasonable…lace…ribbons….I could keep going :)

The best clearance deal I can remember recently was at Sizzix.com. This past Christmas they had the Hello Kitty Sidekick on sale for $7.99–regularly $39.99, and the Sidekick Handbag also on sale for the same price, regularly $39.99. I had just gotten into papercrafting and my 6-year old daughter really wanted to craft with me, and I never would have bought those things at the regular price, so this was perfect timing for a Christmas gift for her. I bought her her own Sizzlets, too. She feels so grown up when she is using her very own machine to make cards for her friends and family.ReplyCancel

Most of my life I have had an artificial Christmas tree simply because I am a magnet for the most crippled live tree on the lot. The last live tree I bought had 2 tops when it thawed.
About 20 years ago my son broke the tree as he was helping put it up. It was so old they were plastic in those days. He said OK lets go shopping for a new tree. I said ” No way will I pay full price for a tree. Get the Super Glue” We cobbled the tree together and then the week “after ” Christmas I hit the clearance sales for a tree and some new decorations. I wanted an artificial silk blue spruce , but they cost a fortune. 2 Days before New Years I found a $350 tree at 75% off. Then they only had the display model so they gave me another 15% off. I had to come back the next day to get it because they needed to disassemble it . When I got there they gave me more money off because they could not find the trunk wraps. It cost me around $60. I then wrote to the company asking how I could buy new tree wraps and gave them the model number.. I never said what happened to them. They realized it was a very expensive tree so they sent the tree warps “2nd day air” and did not charge me anything. I set up the tree and proceded to shop all of the After Christmas sales at the high end stores for new tree decorations. That was the first year that chasing Tree lights came out. I wanted them, but they were $35 a strand before Christmas. $8 a strand on clearance. LOL. It is still a gorgeous tree, my daughter has it now.ReplyCancel

Love a clearance sale and seldom buy anything at full price. I am fortunate to have many craft stores nearby (Micheal’s, Joann’s, Hobby Lobby, AC Moore), so I make good use of all their coupons. The best sales are in the wee hours of the morning on Black Friday. By the time most people get out to shop, my family is enjoying a lunch together at one of our favorite mall restaurants and sharing all our bargains.

My husband wonders why I volunteer to go away on hockey tournaments with my 15 year old son every year. It’s so that I can go to the USA and hit up Kohl’s, Target, Michael’s, Joanne’s — all the stores we don’t have in Toronto. And if there’s a sale while I’m there ??? I’m in heaven! Last November in Madison Wisconsin the Kohl’s across from our hotel had a midnight madness sale and I got $100 boots for $29.00, did most of my Christmas shopping and received future $20 discount coupons that I gave to the housekeeper to use after I’d left. Oh my, oh my! What a delicious collection you offer. I never win anything, but some lucky person will enjoy it for sure. Best clearance I hit was when a local Real Deals store was going out of business. I just happened to be next door at ACMoore and saw the sign. Everything in those stores is $1 or less to begin with, so you can imagine what a clearance is like. I got the cart and headed for the craft/scrapbook section and loaded right up. Thought I was done, but saw some neat storage containers down one of the aisles, so helped myself to some of those, and then saw CowTails candy on the checkout counter. HAD to have some of them as well. My cart was full, but my pocketbook hardly complained at all. LOVE a deal!! :)ReplyCancel

I absolutely loved everyone’s “sale stories” – we’re all on limited budgets, I guess. My best non-crafting sale story is the time we were at a large store and I found a section with little boys underwear (6 to a pack) for 25 cents a package. My husband was shaking his head when he saw me later with 12 packages (all the store had) in my cart! Questioning what I could possible need Spiderman and Batman underwear for – as our 2 children were girls and in Junior High – I said, “Silly, they’re on sale!” He knew I’d lost my mind then! I was blessed to be able to take them to a local shelter for women and children – and they were thrilled. Sizzix was having a clearance sale on Sizzlets Decorative Strips and they were so adorable and cheap. By the time I was finished adding all the ones I thought were cute in my cart, I realized I had 30 of them! I bought them all, and to this day I have only used about 5 of them. I´m unfortunately not so lucky to have a lot of craftstores, where I live, so there´s a long time between the good sales here, but my best buy ever, must absolutely be, when I was almost getting too late for a final sale, when our local craftstore were closed down, because I had to work. But I made it there just 5 minutes before the doors were closed for the last time, and watched around, but ofcause all the best had already gone, but then I saw, she had 2 big shelves with these large sheets of cardstock measuring 42cm x 64cm, and asked her, if she would sell it all and maybe even the shelves too, as they would be awesome in my craftroom. And she just said yes right away, and if I didn´t want 3 big baskets too, that was meant to build together on top of each other for stuff too, and I eneded up getting 2 sshelves and the 3 baskets for 75$, but I got even more surprised, when hubby came to help me remove them, cause what I hadn´t even realized was, that I gort all the cardstock with them too, so I think I have enough cardstoc to use forthe next 8 years LOL. That was a really good bargain, that´s for sure, but unfortunately it also meant no more craftstore around here, so it was both a good deal, but also pretty sad really.ReplyCancel

CLEARANCE…CLOSING SALE…BARGAIN BIN…REDUCED…SALE ….all music to the ears of a crafter! I have access to a wholesale ribbon place and the last time I took a few of my crafting buddies, we made out like bandits. They had 10yd and 25yd rolls of grossgrain, satin, organza and wire edged ribbons discounted by 70% to 75%. We paid 3.00 and 3.75 for rolls that were regularly $12.00 to $15.00 per roll and other rolls were 5 for $10.00. They were all first quality ribbon and came in a multitude of different colours. We are planning another trip back there in the next couple of months.ReplyCancel

Well, I must say, I do like them bargain bins at Michaels but my greast sale was at a garage sale. I had seen this closed box, opened it and I thought I was in heaven. Here was a whole Big box of all kinds of card making / scrapbooking supplies, from paper, rubber stamps, embellishments, ribbon, clear stamps, ink pads, misc items, you name it, it was in there and the whole box only cost me $5.00. Really made my day.

Good morning Becca…This year I got a $10.00 coupong from Macy’s for my birthday (I guess because I have been a customer of their’s a LONG time!). When I went to use it, I saw a white sweater with a roll back collar on the sales rack. It was originally $66.00 and had been marked down to $19.00..then it had a 60% off lowest price which came to $11.50…then I used my $10.00 coupon and paid $2.07 (including the tax) for the sweater. The cashier said I should be REALLY happy!!!ReplyCancel

I have learned to wait till what I want is on sale because I won’t buy at full price if I can help it. We are limited to craft items in our town so when we do go out of town to HL, M and J I make sure I look up the coupons for that week on the internet. Clearance sales… the best way to shop!! LOL!! For my first entry/story I have to go back quite a few years… my mom and I used to shop at a department store in our fairly small town. They carried very good brands of clothing and pretty often they would have sales where they would take 50% off of the already marked down price. I remember the price tags on the clothing already had been marked down several times and then by the time you took 50% off the lowest price that was marked you were able to get some really great pieces of clothing for a small fraction of the regular price. Those sales were so much fun!!!! It was great because they always had so much clothing on sale… not just a few things that appeared to be picked over that had been hanging around for a while, but rack after rack of great stuff.. Back then I was not a crafter… clothes were what I was really into so those sales were like heaven to me. Now, I’d rather buy craft stuff! LOL!!ReplyCancel

My best find was at the DCWV warehouse sale in Provo, UT. I live just a few miles away. I bought about 20 large 12×12 packets of paper for $2 each!! I bought 10 of the 4X6 packets t for $1 each that are great to use for cards. Like everyone else I seldom buy anything for full price. I always use my coupons and sales……I live for sales!

ok many years ago when i first got my black lab pup and she was 8-10 lbs. i was in wally world looking for a special toy from her. i ran across a friend who was there shopping with one of her friends. i mentioned why i was there and the friend pulled out the ugliest, biggest, squeekiest fish toy i had ever seen. as soon as i saw and heard it i had to have it. it was the last one in the store. we got talking and i convinced the friend of my friend that i needed that toy for my dog way more than she did for her dog. she gave me it for my dog and i will tell you it was her favorite toy she loved it to pieces, literally. the squeaker went first but she shook it all ove the place for a long time.ReplyCancel

I never pay full price – I always use a coupon or wait for sales or clearance. I made a haul at Michael’s Thursday night! I found a bunch of Recollections Boutique Fleur Floral Embellishments for $1.99 each (more than 50 percent off) and even some for 99 cents! I stocked up on flowers, butterflies, felt borders and lace embellishments! I even found K & Company alphabet stickers, gems and pearls, floral stickers and snowflake stickers for 99 cents each. I even found packs of various embellishments (buttons, flowers, brads, and pompons) for 49 cents each. I really stocked up on my embellishments! Now, I have a “stash”!!!! I used a similar deal like yours the other day. I bought an item that was selling for 50% and then used the coupon for another 25% off! I love finding deals like these! Wow, my favortite CLEARENCE sale…Each summer I put together 20 – 25 new portfolio binders for my incoming Pre-K class. I travel about 2 1/2 hours away from home, to a chain store not in my area. They have in their clearence area; 6 -7 boxes filled with clearence scrapbooking papers. I sit on the floor in front of each box and and go through all the papers searchng for that particular paper for that particular incoming Pre-K child. It is sooo much fun and a labor of love I do say. When all is said and done it is sooo work the savings for those children. As those gas prices keep going up I am concerned what might happend this year!!!ReplyCancel

Well I guess you could call this clearance. I used to be able to pick up a lot of scrapbooking goodies at Big Lots–paper, stamps, bling… But alas, the Big lots near me don’t seem to carry nearly as much anymore, so those deals are pretty much gone. :-(

I love shopping! I hate paying retail and those awful shipping fees online! I use coupons or shop when items are on sale. My husband is very supportive of my “habit” and if I snag 2 coupons he will go with me to use one of them. There are a few places online where it is possible to find free shipping. Those are my favorite spots. I shop online at ScrapMart and Oh My Crafts. At town it is Michael’s and Jo*Ann’s with coupons. When we travel I LOVE to find a Hobby Lobby. There are no HL’s in CA but Lubbock, TX has a fantastic one. I found scrapbook paper there for 10 cents each on clearance. I carry a special bin for 12X12 paper in our motorhome so that my buys travel safely back to CA. {{Hugs}}ReplyCancel

I love to go to the Making Memories Warehouse sales twice yearly in Clearfield, Utah. Items are usually anywhere from 50% to 90% off. One year, I was able to pick up a bunch of stuff for merely pennies on the dollar on their last day where they had marked down items even more (I picked up about (15)12 x 12 albums for $2.00 each).ReplyCancel

I love Claire Ants Saw Lay. It is how I have so much that I don’t have the time to play with. If it wasn’t for clearance and 1/5 offs I wouldn’t have all my toys (tools). I get most of my specials at Ohmycrafts.com. I never pay full price for a cartridge. Oh and you have to love ebay. I get so excited when I snipe my next…………. the best clearance events are going out of business sales. while i hate that the stores go out of business, i take advantage of them. specifically, fabric/quilting shops and scrapbook shopes. with both, there is the anticipation first. we don’t go in the first hour or so, because the crowds are horendous. eventually, though, we get there and start collecting. most items we know about already, we just have to figure out how much it costs on sale. events like this require return visits. either the dust has settled, or the percent off is getting better. it’s a frenzy, and we go through it because it is a “necessity”!ReplyCancel

You really had me going with that title. To Funny. I am ALWAYS on the look out for a clearance, a sale or a coupon. Seldom buy otherwise. My very best buy happened years ago. We had a market that would have 8 hour meat sales. I always stocked up. I found a 18# roast that was mislabeled, instead of $48.00 it was marked $0.48. The cashier just rang it up and gave me the 25% off. I got that 18# roast for 12 CENTS! I also bought a duck on sale but when I got it home it was bad. Store policy was to return your money and give you a free replacement. The replacement duck had a sticker on it for $2 off. I jokingly asked if I would get the $2 off. My DH tells people I once bought a cow for a dime and had the nerve to ask for the discount on a free duck. He says I’m the reason they went out of business.

First of all, thanks so much for the generous giveaways. I think, in this day and age, everyone has to look for bargains. I almost always buy my scrapping supplies on sale or with coupons. My best “score” happened years ago when I was came across short sets for my kids for 70% off plus I had a 15% off coupons for the total purchase. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Don’t you love it when that happens:) Needless to say, I bought several sizes to that my kids had short sets for several years. Plus they wore like iron so once my kids outgrew them, I was able to pass them on.ReplyCancel

Sale is my middle name. My best time is when they have the “bag” sales at some of our local churches. My golly can u make out soooooooo well with books, clothes, etc. I too use coupons at Michaels and Joanns when ever I am able. We too do not live very near to those two stores as it takes us 50 min. to get there but at least we try to go every 4-6 weeks. We are addicted for sure. My girlfriends and I love a bargain.
One of our local Craft Shops has a special weekend every two months, where you can have a discount of 30% on any item the Store stocks, or can order for you. So even if they sell out all the stock of one particular item over the three days they will order it in for you and the discount still applies.
The only draw back being the £30, for life, you have to pay for membership to the scheme. My chum, Sue, wanted a Cuttlebug. We waited for the appropriate weekend, shared the £30 membership, she bought her Cuttlebug and we both picked up lots of other goodies. The cost of the membership was covered on that day, and, ever since we shop every two months for most of our craft items.

Brain wasn’t firing too well this morning so took a bit to figure out who Clarence Saw-Lay was LOL!

I’m a bargain shopper all the way :) I compare prices and wait for sales. My most recent savings was getting a US PO Box (I live in Canada) so I can shop on line in the US and have the goods sent to the US addy with no shipping fees (I save up and buy what’s required for no shipping fees). With our dollar so high now things are much cheaper in the US. A quick pop over the border to pick up the goods (keep them under $100 so Canada Customs won’t ding you any duty) and fill up with gas (gas is also much cheaper in US) and I save in many ways! Plus I get what I order MUCH more quickly that way too :)ReplyCancel

I am always on the lookout for great deals – right now my grocery store sells gift cards ( and for Jo Anne’s and Michaels) and for every $50 you get .10 off every gallon of gas. Then I am a very frugal shopper at the craft stores – I walked out with 3 bags of goodies yesterday plus got the money off gas!!! My mom went a few times with me..she would have a few items and I would have several full bags..she finally asked me how I do it – I led her to the back to the clearance section!! One week I picked up half dozen pads of adorable paper for $.97 each – following week the same paper was back to $17.99!! I shared them with friends and family members the ones I scored!!

My most awesome sale was at a store called Bergner’s in Peoria, Illinois where I got many pairs of shoes for $6.00 a pair. This was about 2 years ago. Because I’m on supplemental oxygen 24/7, I don’t get out a lot. When I do, it’s almost always to MIchaels. Then I take my son and husband and they each have to use a 40% off coupon, too! I do most of my shopping online. I recently got some great clearance items at Kohls and used a 30% off coupon and a free shipping code. Those were great bargains, but then I got a $10 cash back in my email. So I found a beautiful sweater on clearance for $10.10 with $.98 shipping. For $1.08, I got a $45 sweater! Love it!ReplyCancel

Several years ago there was a building and home goods store that was closing. The best deal I ever got was just 2 weeks ago, at my local grocery store. I saw some ground turkey in the 50% off meat clearance bin,for $3.15 each.
So I bought all 11 they had and grabbed a large tube of organic mixed greens for $5.
When I went to check out they scanned it all, and some how I ended up paying only $7.08 for EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think my best deal ever was found at a Goodwill store – the ULTIMATE clearance, right? I got a Xyron 500 in it’s original box complete with an adhesive cartridge for $1! The person who donated it must not have read the instructions and had the cartridge all jammed up. After a few minutes, I had everything freed up and it’s been working perfectly ever since. By the way, my Mom and I are each having a lifelong fling with “Clarence”, as we call “him”. ;)ReplyCancel

It was 1985, and my New Years Resolution was, “Don’t buy anything, unless it is on sale.” I kept that resolution for a whole year (except for some food items, now and again–hard to make a dinner without having a few things not being on sale.). I really loved that concept so much, I have pretty much stuck to it. I really check out the bargains and if it is not on sale, then I strive to use a coupon. I love bargain shopping. I am a rubber stamper! I love Stampin Up! stamps and one day I walked into a Goodwill store on half price day just to look around. I found 2 large boxes full of Stampin Up! stamps. I went through and picked out the ones I didn’t have and walked out with one heaping full box and paid less than $50. Probably over a $1000 in stamps and a lot hadn’t made it on the blocks. My best clearance purchases were made when I did needlework instead of “paper” work. A wonderful company in Connecticut would have their “yard sale” in August and you had to be there when it opened or you missed the goodies. Frames, boxes, all kinds of needle craft items at 80-90% off. Some were seconds but it was hard to tell what was wrong. Like others, I have horded these for years and am now using some of the threads, embellishments, frames, etc for making cards, and other paper crafts. Always knew the “stuff” would come in handy some day. Look for your wonderful blog every morning to see what new you have created. I try to shop the clearance sales, but buy ONLY if it something I’m pretty sure I will use. I have not done that in the past and spent lots of money on things that just never get used (not much of a bargain then). My son and grandson stood in line on the Friday after Thanksgiving last year and got me a Cricut for a really great price – and at a home depot/lowes type of store. My most recent clearence craft sale was at my local craft store, bought lots of fabby goodies, some with 75% off original price, some things I had not seen before and wasn’t quire sure what to do with them but bought them all the same as they seemed a bargain! One of the items was Karen Foster Pinky Dinky Dies, I had bought a number of them from the range available, the packaging didn’t make it obvious to me what they were. In fact I thought they were charms, but once I googled it became apparent what I had bought. I have a big shot so wasn’t sure they would cut, they did and I am thrilled with them, for very little money I had bought some really cute dinky dies and since have found the cute Christmas dies available, again at a reduced price ..

Like all the rest, I love a good bargain. Probably one of the best was getting a good selection of Cuttlebug embossing folders and dies/with embossing folders at Big Lots for $1 and $2. I love to go to Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, and Joanne’s with their coupons. If I can’t find anything to use them on, I will give them to someone in the parking lot who is going into the store as I am going out to my car.

One of the best bargains I heard about was when I gave a friend and her daughter whom I ran into in the parking log all my coupons for Joanne’s. They were buying material to make doggie bandanas and were able to save over $75.00.ReplyCancel

We have a better consignment shop here. I usually don’t go shopping there unless they are having a sale. At the end of season, things go to 25%, 50%, 75% then 90 % off. I wait until the last 2 mark downs and then go shopping. At the end of winter I got a navy pea coat, three blouses, two necklaces, a pair of pants and a pair of shoes for $32.00. My favorite bargain, other than wonderful finds at garage sales, is the New Year’s Day when Joanns had all their clearance fabric for 50 cent per yard, This was about 8 yrs or so ago. I went from store to store as long as the hours held out and bought about 200 yds of great fabric. Their marked down price was as much as $7.99 per yard, but it was all 50 cents. I got a lot of Daisy Kingdom prints, MMM maybe longer ago than that. What a day!ReplyCancel

Don’t feel bad you are not the only one who thought taxes were due the 15th. I do taxes for a living and lots of people thought it was the 15th probably because it is always the 15th but due to a holiday in D.C that fell on the 15th we got a few extra days. Well I am also known as the queen of clearance my most recent great buy was a rolling tote bag for scrapbooking from Michaels . The the tote was originally 79.99 I kept my eye on it for months (aka also known as stalking) it finally got mkd to 19.99 and I had a $13 gift card(I always as for craft store gift cards for gifts) so I paid out of pocket around $8 for 79.99 tote wohoo!!!ReplyCancel

You are always so thoughtful. Hope you are having a great visit with your sister the “clearance queen”. I wish I liked to shop, but it really is not my favorite thing to do. Spent to many years working very long hours so I really never had a lot of time to just go shopping for the fun of it. It was a rareity to have a day off and when I did I just wanted to stay home and enjoy it and not have to be around people or crowds. So I never developed the shopping craze that so many women have. Thank goodness for the internet and the fact that most craft stores are not located in malls. The best find that I have ever run accross were several oak gun lockers at a military base. I was able to pick them up for $25 a piece and purchased enough to line each side of my garage. They are very attractive and make wonderful storage cabinets. They really enhanced the look of our garage and make wonderful storage for everything.

Not only do I head straight to the sales/clearance section, but I also try to couple that with coupons and shopping through a rewards based program.
I also look for free shipping whenever I can get it. And, love the little freebies with purchase too! Oh, and don’t forget about mail in rebates-I do those too!

I love those dollar bins at Michael’s, and when they go on sale for half price, I really clean up! The have some great hard covered journals that I load into my cart, and take them home and recover with lovely paper and an embellishment or two, and voila! An instant little gift! hi ladies, this is off topic today , feeling out of sorts the last 24 hours have been well no words for it. My 20 year old son was in a car crash he only had his car two weeks , a lot of help from above was taken care of him and his friend a deer ran in front of them they tried to miss it hit a tree bounced in the air and upside down after seeing the picture of the car we don’t know how they walked out of it side crushed in roof crushed in they were able to climb out the back door with only some sore bodies , my son called us at 7pm to tell us what happened all that matters is your safe( at this point I had not seen pictures) at 9pm my daughter called crying and in pain she is 19 weeks preg. after her , me and my husband calling the hospital they said they would check her out ( ya Im a real bear when it comes to my kids no matter their age) so we met them at the hospital and everything was fine , back on our way home within and hour (and the nurse said were really busy so you’ll be here all night ,umm no other people there. then today my daughter called saying someone had hit their car ( again brand new car but thank god her husband is going to school for body repair and is going to fix it at school.
So today I’m feeling so blank was planing on doing cards today but never even made it out of my pj’s , no one understands I don’t even understand how I feel is this a “mom” thing so very greatful that everyone is safe. Kiss your kids no matter what their age text them “I love you” thank god that I have wonderful kids that they arent mad at me for texting them a dozen times today saying “you ok” “be safe” . know this isn’t the place for this hope you all will understand I just needed to speak to other women . love to all of you.ReplyCancel

I too like the others love a great bargin, especially when it is craft related, but my best deal by far was at a recent grocery store. They had 35 lb. Purina Dog Food ($23.00 reg) tagged underneath that said 2 for $10, save $35. I was going to buy the 10 lb bag at $15 and thought OMG! Since I have two dogs and one of them is a Newfie who weighs over 100 lbs, I can never have too much dog food in the house. After the cashier called the manager 2 times and they didn’t show up to the register, the cashier honored the sale tag and I got $45 worth of Purina for $10!!ReplyCancel

Best clearance sale deals lately: $1.00 each for rather new American Crafts embellishments at Big Lots, $5.99 for a 50 piece grab bag of Cosmo Cricket paper, and 70% off of a TON of supplies from an online store.

If only all of the store were named something boring like “Food Store” or “Bargain Meals” rather than scrappy names… I may be able to get away with more!! :)ReplyCancel

I have been to a few great clearances. When I was not much of a cardmaker and mostly a scrapper, I used to go to these yearly sales in Adelaide (here in Aust.) where a local stamp company would clear out a whole lot of their products in a hall they hired. They sold wooden stamps in baskets some were $2, some $3, some $4 etc, and they also sold punches, paper, inks etc. I would put all the nice things in a carry basket, find a quiet spot and start culling. I would usually spend around $60 – $70 and come home with a LOT of goodies. It was a good way to build up my stamp collection. Alas I only went to 2 or 3 of these sales before the company wound up.ReplyCancel

I can’t think of any clearance sales where I cleaned house, but I do use coupons for most of my buying where possible. Now that Joann’s is carrying Spellbinder dies I’m hopeful that I can use coupons on them, but haven’t been able to get an answer from the clerks. I’m a clearance piggy myself. The first place I head, when I enter a story, is for the rear end caps, where all the mark down items can be found. Oh, it’s such an addiction!

The real problem right now is that one of our major local craft stores is closing in July because of a lost lease. At this point everything in the store is marked 20% off, but you know they will be marking things down more as the weeks go by. Oh the Agony! The Stress! Will the things I want still be there in May? Should I wait or bite the bullet and snap them up?

20% isn’t enough to get my blood moving, so I’m biting my lip and my nails and waiting….

Today at Micheals I bought a set of 50 announcements cards with envelopes regular price $34.99, I paid$ 3.49. I bought them for the envelopes not the announcement cards. The envelopes are 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 a nice size for a bigger card. Well to be honest I actually bought 2 whole boxes giving me 100 wonderful cheap envelopes !!!!!!!! lol lol I do love a bargain !!! The absolute best clearance event that I’ve ever attended was in the early 2000’s. I found a new scrapbooking store and went to pick up a few things but I found a “going out of business sign” on the door!! Boy was surprised! But when I left the store that day I had so many punches, so many styles in big ones, giant ones, medium and small ones and even those teeny tiny ones. I got round ones and square ones and rectangles and I think I got every size of apple I could find! And…. I got the cutest little boy and girl punches that match and punch a 2” tall image. But then there were those that I just couldn’t pass up! The flowers! And lots abd kits of flowers….. Then there were those cute little animals and bugs and butterflies to go with the flowers. And hearts…. hearts of all sizes and shapes and I got hearts and hearts to my hearts content and all this at 75% off. Some how I must have known that a punched image would add a finishing touch to a card or hand made gift that I would be making this many years later!!!ReplyCancel

Here, near Edmonton, Alberta, Canada the craft stores are few and far between. A good clearance sale is hard to find. My best crafting deals are to be found on Kijiji or Craigslist ads, especially when the seller is local so no shipping costs involved. It is amazing how quickly some crafters move onto to bigger and better products, so they sell the older versions.
Love a bargain, but even better is winning it. I hope that the random number generator loves me this time.

I love to pick up items on clearance just after Christmas and use them for gifts/projects, gift wrap and cards for the following Christmas. One great find for my craft room was actually found in my back lane. My neighbour threw away a storage tower (that has slide out bins) because the large bottom bin was cracked. Turns out the bins snapped together so my Dad removed the bottom bin for me and reattached the wheels and it’s as good as new. It’s still much taller than my other storage towers so I keep my cuttlebug on top and it’s at the perfect working height!ReplyCancel

I can’t remember a clearance sale, but I do sometimes use a 50% off coupon at Michael’s to buy an adhesive cartridge for my Xyron 850….a savings of at least $25. That is, unless they mark those 10% off so you can’t use the coupon!! (which they’ve been known to do. They see me coming!! LOL) And the last 50% coupon I used to get my granddaughter a really good big lightweight drawing board that was reinforced inside so it wouldn’t break or bend. I saved $25 on that! :- )

I recently had a lovely day out as a break from caring for my Dad and visited Cambridge (England), saw all the old buildings and hired a punt on the river. On our way back through the shopping area I spotted bead necklaces at £1 each in the sale. Lovely beads have now made a new necklace, extra findings and pretty beads left for my cards! I absolutely do not buy anything without coupons and it is great that Michael’s will honor coupons from other stores. Now I hold out for 50% off coupons! I try to get the more expensive things that I “need” when I have one of those 50% coupons. Oh boy! What a topic! I went with a friend the other day on a search for a “few” things for my newly redecorated scrapbook room…and she was amazing! She showed me how on the shelves of “regular” merchandise how they had stuck little yellow clearance labels…many of them more than 50% off! We have a flea-market here that one of the vendors will often have scrapbook items, and they are usually 75% off what i can purchase them for even on sale on line so that is the best bargain yet. Love the title of this post! The best deal I managed to get was a Cuttlebug from Walmart. I was in a scrapbooking store and the sales lady was promoting the Quick Kutz revolution machine but I thought it was too pricey. I mentioned to her that I was in the market for a Cuttlebug for the simple reason that it takes all other machines`dye cutting and embossing folders. Another customer in the store overheard me and told me later on outside the store that Walmart had it on for – are ya ready for this – $57.96!!! Whoo Hoo! Up until then the cheapest price I had found was for $79.99 at an online store in BC. Add the shipping cost & sales tax and it would have been around $100.00. Michaels at the time was selling it for $109.99 but all their coupons clearly state that all Cricut products are excluded.

I will keep you in my prayers, Two years I drove my oldest daughter to school in California from home here in Michigan. It was so hard to leave her and return home. Today she loves it there and is doing well. We do miss her a lot but know for now that is where she is suppose to be.

I love the clearance aisle. I always check that out first whether in a real store or online. My only problem is I buy stuff I don’t need because it was such a deal. My best deal was at Michael’s. They had a Sizzix alphabet die set that was only $4.99. I thought for sure the cashier was going to tell me it was mismarked but she didn’t. It was such a great deal so I went to a couple other Michael’s hoping to pick up another but they all had theirs marked down to a much higher price.ReplyCancel

Who doesn´t love a good clearance? I think we all do, espsecially when it´s a crafter, but unfortunately it´s not often, we have any here, of that kind, but I always go after the clearancesales, when I´m shopping online, and I have been lucky a couple of times and got some really good delas there. A friend of mine, just got me 3 punch around the page set from Martha Stewart for just 12$ per set here in January, and I certainly found that was a really good deal he he.ReplyCancel

I love to check out the Hobby Lobby clearance section. I’ve gotten great deals on Spellbinder dies there. About $9 a package. And they usually have some embellishments on clearance too that you can pick up very cheaply!ReplyCancel

I was internet surfing one day and came across a site that was clearancing all of their papers. These papers were top quality, double sided name brand papers for 15 cents each and on top of everything else the shipping was a flat rate of like 4$. I felt like the queen of clearance that day. A couple of months ago I found some great clearence prices on clear stamps at Michael’s. Sometimes I think I am a better “collector” of stamps then a stamper. There must be some kind of group therapy for that kind of sickness….. But then stamping is therepy.ReplyCancel

Wow….best clearance sales. I must say AC Moore near me can have some real treasures. And, sadly, I have benefited from the unfortunate closing of local scrapbooking stores. The best clearance sale I think was at an art store that was discontinuing much of its crafts selections. So I was guilt free in taking advantage of the bargains! Tons and tons of wonderful paper at dirt cheap prices!

I had a coupon for one of Michael’s 20% off everything, even sale items. When I saw punches (this was back in the day before Nesties). When I got to the checkout, the clerk started to ring the punches up at the regular price. I said, No, No, No, those are 30% off. She said, that sale ended yesterday. When I told her the sign was still up, she went to see for herself and came back and told me, I was right and she had to give them to me at that price. Then, of course, I was sorry I hadn’t grabbed even more punches.ReplyCancel

My best non-crafting purchase was @ Macy’s. For a mere $24.17 (including tax) I brought home a jacket, 2 sweaters & a pair of slacks that had a combined total of $251 before tax! Not bad, eh. As to craft purchase, it had to be @ JoAnn’s where I saved $75 and paid only $34 for scrapbooking stuff!ReplyCancel

Ok, I am so bad that my friend pointed your post out to me before I even had a chance to check it out. I love clearances!! I am known as the “enabler” with my friends. One of my best clearance sales was a Cuttlebug. I was at Hobby Lobby and they had one marked down to $20. Apparently someone brought it back after only using it 2 times and said it didn’t work – but it did. Because it was used they had to sell it really cheap and I just had to buy it. Though I have a Big Shot that I love, this is my “take with” machine.ReplyCancel

OK…so now I have to admit this in writing. I have 16 bottles of a certain favorite shampoo that I got VERY reasonably with a double coupon event. One of our kids went under the bathroom sink recently looking for rubbing alcohol and located the stash. I’m not sure I’ll ever live that one down.ReplyCancel

in the early 80’s…when i was in my early 20’s..a perfume and cosmetics factory was going out of business in my hometown…
the place was bursting with shoppers…shoulder to shoulder..everything was10 cents… 25 cents…50 cents..$1…..for name brand and high end products…
after surviving the crowd..and waiting online for a longggg time…i left there with boxes of things..for myself..and friends…

I usely check out the clearance in Hobby Lobby and Michaels lots of times and always use coupons when there. one time at a Michaels I found border and matching corner punches for $5.00 each! I loaded up on them, lol!ReplyCancel

The best deal I ever got was some Martha Stewart border and corner punch sets from Wal-Mart for $5. I was able to get several different sets for all of the papercrafters in my family.ReplyCancel

I’m in Shanghai, China right now visiting my daughter and son-in-law and their two children (newest grandson born three weeks ago!). So I’m glad just to be able to stay in touch.

I think some of my best shopping has been at Carter’s for clothes for the grandkids. Last Thanksgiving , Carter’s was having a 50% off the entire store from 7:00AM til Noon. My sister-in-law, her d-i-l, and my d-i-l spent two hours there. Since I also had a 40% off coupon for $50.00 or more, we were able to pool our stuff and get a lot of kids clothes. I also had a punch card, so after the 50% off store-wide, 40% off coupon, and pooling all our stuff, I was able to also fill up a punch card. I found one last item as I was walking out of the store and was able to purchase a pretty pink hoodie with ruffles (so girlish) for 50 cents after all the discounts and the $10.00 off punch card.

I think one of my best buys was found at HB while purusing the aisles. I always check the clearance section first, but have also discovered that HB will mark things down and leave them in the sections where they belong rather than transfer the items to the clearance section. One day I found 8 of the refill cartridges for the Glue Gider marked down to $1.29 each, whle the rest of them were marked at regular price. I started to get a couple and then thought, hey, get them all silly, they wont spoil. When I got up to the check out aisle, I asked if they really were $1.29 each, just to be fair. Dont want a deal if it was marked wrong. To my shock, yes they were priced correctly and she let me use a 40% coupon for one of them. I was in heaven.

My best clearance deal was a couple of years ago. I carefully picked through the clearance bin and painstakingly sorted and whittled down my picks to a manageable size and took them up to the cash register only to find out that everything was 1/2 off the clearance price!! I want to stumble on that deal again! Prayers are with you as you move your son, mine went out to western Canada last October and it took me awhile to get over the distance. Hugs.ReplyCancel

Another bargain . . . my husband had been wanting a George Foreman grill ever since we returned from Kenya. Well, we just happened upon a small yard sale where they had one (in brand new condition) for sale. They were only asking $5 for it (which I would have gladly paid out right). But, having just recently returned from Kenya where bartering is the way of life, my husband asked if they’d take $2 for it . . . and, would you believe they agreed! He’s one happy camper now, and I’ve agreed to let him do all the bargaining at yard sales in the future (ha/ha)! Love the story!
For this past Christmas, my hubby and I wanted to get our family a Wii and so we scoped out the Black Friday ads. We found a good one in the Walmart ad and hubby got up at 3:30AM to go get it. He waited in line forever and then ran through the store only to find out that the deal was ONLINE and he could have purchased the thing from home! Better him than me, I guess!

I can never say no to ribbon on clearance. I probably have enough to last me a lifetime, but that doesn’t stop me from buying more! 5 years ago there was a Ben Franklin in my home town that was going out of busines. I went back many times just for the ribbons. My Mom thought I was crazy, but she loves them on my cards.ReplyCancel

I think the best clearance offer i saw was a padded vest my DH bought at about 1/3 price, and never wore – I snagged it late last year and love it!!

But the ultimate was the new life I got, compliments of Jesus, who gave his life at Calvary!

I seldom pay regular price and, although I am drawn to clearance sales, I’ve learned to ask myself first whether I really need or want it or am I just buying it because its on sale! I’ve bought a lot of craft items at Michaels with 40% off coupons, but the best deal I can think of came last fall on a pair of shoes. The store was going out of business, and everything was on sale–mostly 15% to 60% off. Well, I found a pair of summer dress shoes in an expensive brand that was my size and on a little table of $5 items. I checked with the cashier to make sure the price was right (similar shoes in fall colors were on sale for around $80). She said no, it’s not, since the red dot on the tag meant they were 70% off….but it was 70% off the $5!!!. I couldn’t believe it! The shoes cost me $1.50 plus tax! I don’t think I’ll ever get that kind of deal again, and now that it’s almost spring in our area, I’ll soon be able to wear them!ReplyCancel

I was shopping in Kohl’s 2 weeks ago looking for a navy blue or black blazer. Found one that fit so decided to buy it. Cashier rang it up and said $8.73, ………I said I saved that much, didn’t know it was on sale. She said, “NO, it rang up clearance, you only owe $8.73”. An unexpected blessing.

Clearance sales are fun! I like getting a great bargain. The best bargain I have gotten lately was at Mike’s. I found a $50 wall organizer for my crafting supplies marked down to $10 and I had a 20% off :>) Gotta love it and now my crafting area is a little less messy. One of my better clearance sales was a couple of years ago in a local supermarket, where they had a basket with defect stuff in and hubby was messing around in it and found a canopener to put on a wakk, so it was easy to open large cans, and would have both hands free, and he grabbed this one, but I said don´t take this, cause the part to go on the wall was missing, but he took it and we only payed 1/10 of the price, because this was missing, but when we came home and opened the pack, it was there, but it had just been adhered to the opener instead of laying beside, las it did in all the other ppacks, so all was there anywhere, and we got it really cheap and din´t miss any of it anyway ha ha ha.ReplyCancel

Before all of the wonderful embossing folders came out, I was addicted to the lasting impressions brass templates. I found a 60% off sale and really went to town. I do lots of 3D decopage cards and use the double stick foam tape, it is almost half the price in the hardware section than in the craft section of Wal-Mart. Also I buy the brass colored brads instead of colors that are more expensive, press them into Versa Mark pad, hold them with a tweezer, heat with the heat gun to get a beautiful colored brad.ReplyCancel

I stop in Albany and hit all the craft stores (Michele’s, Hobby L) will Michele’s had Martha Stewart border and corner punches in the Clearance bins…. OMG! I’ve been wanting some of these since they came out but just could not pay full price… will I grabbed 4 corner punches and 6 borders and got them for an average of about $5 each…have never seen them that cheep again….
