Create Pin with Shadowbox

Hi there, I’m back today with a different kind of item.  You know when you get something new you want to sit down and play with it right way, no planning, just go with the flow.  Well, that’s the kind of day I was having when I created this during a crafty kind of brainstorming. I purchased a few of these little pins that I used on a different project last year. Since they were markdown clearance, I snapped them up thinking I’d find another way to use them. They are awesome as pins so my mind began thinking about a way to package them so they were the pretty part of a card and could be taken out to be the functional part – a pin. Voila, the shadowbox.

Since I was craft brainstorming I didn’t write directions down, but I can tell you roughly what I did. For the shadowbox I used the new Spellbinders Lattice Rectangles. To create the shadowbox I cut a big x in the middle of the panel and then scored that panel inside by about 1/2 inch. After folding you have a hole that resembles a box but can’t be secured because it is four flaps. So I created a small shallow box to fit down in the opening. That small box allows your cutout to have shape and a finished look. Then, I created another shallow box to fit over the backside.  The whole lot is attached to the card.

I outlined the hole in the box by embossing with Spellbinders Classic Rectangles SM as well as adding a rectangle frame around the box opening using Spellbinders Classic Rectangles SM and Classic Rectangles LG.  For the pin backing I cut the smallest of the Lattice Rectangles.

SUPPLIES I USED

Stamps: None
Paper
: The Paper Company, Bazzill
Ink: None
Accessories:
Spellbinders Lattice Rectangles
Spellbinders Classic Rectangles SM, Spellbinders Classic Rectangles LG, Pearls, Ribbon

Smooches for all the sweet comments you’ve left.  It sure makes me want to sit down and create more :-)

Hi Becca, we’ve spoken on here before, and I am faithful follower. I read and learn more than comment. :( sorry. I do believe you remember me from SCS, as we have spoken about it before.
My previous “name” was mrikitty. You may or may not remember the story of why I am no longer a member. At any rate, the people involved with getting me off the site were in wrong to begin with, and are no longer ;part of that community. I am reaching out to members in good standing that might be willing to speak up on my behalf, as it has been 3.5 years now, and everyone deserves a 2nd chance especially, when it was a bogus issue in the first place.
If you are willing to help me, please email me at:
    susanscraps AT comcast DOT net.
They still have my gallery up, which is not fair and can be “stolen’ if you know what i mean…to me it would only be fair to let me back in.

    Thanks, Susan

BTW…very clever creations and it is very pretty as usual…love the colors!ReplyCancel

Your cards are great, spellbinders have a great thing going. A similar thing happened to my in-laws. When our tollway opened, they decided to try it. When they got home, they said “they didn’t even charge us anything”. The booths are the ones you put the correct change in them as you drive thru.
