About Day of Giving Friday
Welcome new readers!  Just to bring you up to speed, every Friday it’s my pleasure to give away a card.   The card goes to a randomly picked reader (worldwide) who leaves a comment in our conversation. Want to know more about Day of Giving, here’s a link to my FAQ’s just check out #11.

Last week as I went to pick up a salad for lunch at Chick Fil A, when I got to the window the two young cashiers were grinning with joy.  They told me my meal was free because the person in front of me paid for it.  What?  I’ve never had that happen and it could not have come at a better time – I’m still overflowing with gratitude.  The kindness brought me to my knees and snapped me out of obsessing over some bumps in the road that have had me preoccupied.  What a reset and I can’t wait to pay it forward!!  For your comment today – Is there a token of kindness that meant the world to you that you would love to pay forward?

HOw sweet! Years ago, I had cancer surgery. Our two kids were going to be in school for the day at least that was the plan. The school closed because of a heater problem. A good friend saw that on the news and instructed us to drop the kids off with her. She was a godsend.ReplyCancel

so glad you popped out of your bunp in the road. one time I was particularly melancholy and out of no where my brother, that I rarely speak to called , just to call. no other reason. thanks for sharing with us. love all of the cards that you make for us to see.ReplyCancel

Hi Becca. Lovely card. I don’t think I’ve been the recipient of a random act of kindness. Not knowingly anyway! I did hear in a village in the UK this Easter, the Easter bunny left an easter egg at everyone’s front door overnight. I thought that was a nice touch. There are some really lovely folk out in the world. Unfortunately they don’t often make the news headlines. Happy weekend.ReplyCancel

I gladly said yes, and I got 3 whole days off! It was wonderful! Also love your card, and the sentiment is beautiful too bad it is retired>ReplyCancel

Gorgeous card as always. When my husband passed away 3 1/2 years ago one couple in my church brought me dinner ever Friday for about 6 month. We ate together l, laughed, cried and prayed together. I looked forward to every Friday with excitement. It gave me a chance to set a pretty table and just be real with people who just listenened and let me grieve with great compassion and love. It was a kindness I will never forget.
Thanks for the chance to win a gorgeous card.
    Blessing.ReplyCancel

Wonderful card ,the sentiment is beautiful. My act of kindness is actually many acts. My friend has over the last year selflessly given up her precious holiday days every time I have had a hospital appointment. She says quite simply ” You are not going alone -no argument allowed”. Even thinking of it and writing this , brings tears to my eyes.Looking after her little dog in return seems too easy.

    Hello Becca
What a wonderful RAK ..I ordered some stamps from Newtons Nook and didn’t realise that customs would charge me extra, when they came to UK there was £11.88 to pay on top of P/P ,before I would receive the stamps!.
I paid of course, but when I told Newtons Nook…. they reimbursed me!
Now that was above and beyond so another RAK was given to me!!
    People can be so kind!
Love todays card, shame the sentiment is discontinued it would have been so apt for me in many ways!
    Take care Becca!

I am disabled so it is SO wonderful when someone holds the door open for me! Doesn’t take much to make me happy, lol. I try to return the kindness by being a courtious driver – stopping to allow someone to back out of a parking space, just being kind and patient with others because you never know what adversity they are dealing with in their life. Lovely card, as always. I really like the distressed look of the paper with the crisp black sentiment.ReplyCancel

Hi Becca. Your card is beautiful. I can’t remember an purposely act but I do have a circle of friends that I dearly love. Truly beautiful card, as always, Becca. What a lovely thing for someone to do! Nothing like this has ever happened to me but I see lots of little acts of kindness occasionally going on and it reminds me that there are many kind, selfless people around – more than there are not so nice people!ReplyCancel

Awh love your card as always, they should start selling that stamp again!! I’m very lucky I’ve had a few do neat things for me…I’ve done a couple, I read yrs ago about a lady, like it was her 35th birthday, she went on her bday 35 places and did kindness things…a older lady at the grocery store in behind of me didn’t have enough money, I offered, but she would not take, she went to my church and I happened to know which car was hers , so when I went outside, I put more than what she needed in her car…made me feel good…another time I hid some $1 bills in the dollar store toy bins, so some children when find it…that was fun too..thanks for always sharing with all if us…your such a blessing…ReplyCancel

Upon returning home yesterday, we too had a gentlemen “pay it forward”. Standing at the counter at an out-of-the-way gas station and holding a banana, found out upon reaching for my purse that a young man paid for my banana. I thanked him, but when I got into the car and checking the cash in my billfold found out that I only had 63 cents…not enough to buy the banana. Would have been terribly embarrassed not to mention holding up the line. As I can purchase the die cuts that you design, Becca, it tickles me pink to know that I can replicate, but not copy exactly, your beautiful cards. Have an even more beautiful day.ReplyCancel

When our son (our oldest) was going away for his first year of college, we lived in OH and his school was in FL. He didn’t have a cell phone and we didn’t have the money to get him one. We were dreading him being away and having to use a pay phone to call us. A family in the church bought him a Trac Phone with a lot of minutes on it for him to take with him. We were thrilled and it was such a blessing. It sure helped the separation be a little easier knowing he could call home or we could call him whenever we wanted. I would love to someday ease a parent/child separation by a similar act of kindness.ReplyCancel

LOVELY CARD BECCA!!! AND I agree with the others, this sentiment shouldn’t have been retired! ;) I remember acts of kindness being done for us when I was growing up–life was very difficult for us back then, & I have done things in return for others. I haven’t had anyone do an act of kindness really since then. I think though, that you are blessed if someone does something nice for you in this day & age. Our society is so focused on themselves. It is sad that our society is like this now. I believe to have friends, you have to BE a friend….doing little things to show kindness. It can be costly, in that we put our hearts out there….but, I do believe it will pay off in the end & true friendships will be made & you will touch someone’s heart that needed it.ReplyCancel

    Hello Becca,
Beautiful card today, with the most wonderful verse, which fits in perfectly with your question today.
I have just met up for a few days with friends, who “found” each other through crafting sites on the web. Things have been difficult through bereavement and illness over the past year and they have supported and sent loving wishes to me. Which I have been able to do in return to others. We all live in different parts of the country so this was only our second “meet”, but I have come home a different woman. Friendship is a wonderful gift to give and receive.

    Good morning Becca…beautiful card!!!
About six months ago, I went food shopping and was in a big rush and quickly loaded my car with the groceries. When I got home (about 20 minutes away) I realized that I loaded my groceries in the car but left my purse with all my money, credit cards, drivers license, etc. in my shopping cart. I called the store and sure enough, some beautiful person turned it into the store manager. I will forever be grateful to that kind, caring, wonderful person!
    Have a beautiful day!

My hubby and I have been at restaurants where someone unknown has picked up our tab and left a wonderful note of gratitude for my husband who is in law enforcement. It’s really appreciated, especially when cops are getting such a bad rap these days. Such a eautiful card and it will bring joy to the recipient.

Being a member of the Red Hat Society has meant that I have been on the receiving end of so many acts of kindness that I try to send as many thank you’s, like this card, as I can. A lovely friend in Texas looked after me after me being hospitalised with pneumonia. How long had she known me? Just a few days and me living in the UK too.ReplyCancel

Beautiful card. I always love the color you use. I think everyday we all do an act of kindness towards people and in return they extend an act of kindness towards you. Last week a friend told me that her young girls kept on seeing the same homeless man and wanted to know if they could take him breakfast the next morning They did just that and that is what I call an act of kindness and much appreciated by the gentleman. A good start on life for these girls.ReplyCancel

Another stunning card here too Becca. As always your work is just fabulous and a masterpiece in itself.
I haven´t had any RAK´s done to myself, but a wonderful Norwefian friend, each year makes over 100 cards and small gifts for elderly people in a nursinghome for christmas, so they too will get a handmade card and a small gift, even they´re all alone, and here at Easter this year, she made small easterbaskets with treats for all the kids in a childrens ward at their local hospital and all the leftovers, she again gave to the nursinghome to those who had no family, and that is such a sweet thing to do, that I would be happy to copy that if I ever get enough time to make that much cards.ReplyCancel

Beautiful card, Becca. I so enjoy seeing how you mix & match different dies to make the loveliest card designs!
In our community we have rec cards for all our activities. In order for our guests to use the facilities, we add “cash” to our card & then swipe it when they visit. I forgot I had used up all my cash (no visible record….just memory…..yikes!) so when my son wanted to play mini golf on his visit recently, I was empty. The man behind me kindly paid for my son to play! Am definitely paying that forward!ReplyCancel

    Good Friday to you, Becca!
Love your card today, where do you find such lovely floral paper? I lovee small floral prints.
I would love to pay everything forward – don’t know that I have ever had anything like that happen but every once in awhile, you see a little old man or lady that reminds you of grandparents and you think I would love to do something nice for them, sometimes they look sad or lonely. I ran into someone when my daughter was having a test done in the hospital and last week I called (know it’s not exactly the same) to see how she was doing. She acted so happy that I had called to inquiry so guess you can pay forward with a phone inquiry.
    Have a blessed weekend.

Beautiful card Becca! The sentiment is a wonderful thought. makes me smile.
I was once in a drive through line to get a coffee drink and when I got to the window the man told me my drink had been paid for by the person that had been in front of me. My favorite time of paying it forward was in a restaurant and I heard a women say she only had 8.00 to spend and told the waitress to not let her order go over that amount. We were feasting like royalty so we called our waitress over and paid for the womens meal and any thing else she wanted to eat. So Fun!! Loves, RuthieReplyCancel

Really lovely card Becca. Over the years I have been fortunate to have received unsolicited help many times. One time that comes to mind was when my toddler was particularly fussy and I was frazzled when a lovely lady handed me a bottle of cold water and an apple juice for him, in the bag was a receipt with a note which read, “you are welcome, I have been there”. Made me laugh and cry. Sweet memories from 40 years ago.ReplyCancel

Such a sweet and gracious surprise you received. Smile, Smile. Lovely how some people can made others feel so good and want to pass on the gesture. Just yesterday while at Lowes, I offered to give a lady in the check-out line, in front of me, a few dollars when she found she did not have the cash in her purse. She sweetly declined my offer for she had some money in her car. She appreciated my gesture and had a big smile on her face. I have had many tokens of kindness extended to me and my family over the years. I have always tried to “pay it forward” and have been enriched by the act. Your card today is lovely! By the way, Springtime has finally arrived here in the mountains! Did you get to see Julia Watts in the UK demonstrating you dies on Hochanda. I enjoyed seeing what Julia could do with them. Each new day is a gift from God. I always start my day with this phrase to remind me of the continual gifts that come my way unexpectedly. I cherish my friends with all my heart. For 40 years my mother-in-law lived with us and remained with us until her last days. I had my parents move in with us (after my MIL passed) during the last 5 years of their lives. Both sets of parents needed 24 hours care and we received little or no help from family (tho the doors were open). But the simple act of concern, caring and helpfulness from my friends made each day bearable. A simple phone call to say hello was a breath of fresh air. Nothing fancy or expensive but deeply appreciated. We never expected any assistance or demanded any, we just didn’t feel that it needed to be said. And my friends were there to help make my days better.ReplyCancel

    Happy Friday, Becca,
What a gorgeous card! I just love everything about it.
Several years ago, I was unemployed and my car needed major repair. I asked for prayer at church and on Monday morning a dear friend from the congregation called to let me know she was giving me a car. Definitely, in the miracle category! The Good Lord has blessed me so generously, so I try to pay it forward when I can. Now, if I could be another’s miracle – what a blessing that would be!
    Love, SandyReplyCancel

Beautiful card for sharing. I have had numerous opportunities to be generous to others. It is wonderful to be able to assist someone knowing they cannot pay you back. Once in the drive thru myself, the gentleman in front of me paid my bill, so I paid for the person behind me. Don’t delay random acts of kindness……ReplyCancel

Hi Becca. Your card as usual is gorgeous. I do have these dies so this weekend will do my best to produce my own version. On reflection, there have been a few occasions when I’ve been ‘treated kindly’. Given a car park ticket with spare time on it and I try to do the same, being allowed to jump a queue, a friend or family presenting me with flowers ‘just because’, a card from my granddaughter telling me she loves me. All memorable.
Take care Becca and thank you xReplyCancel

A lovely card with a beautiful sentiment. You always create stunning gifts. My husband and I received a random act of kindness a couple of months ago when someone purchased our meals when we were out to dinner. My husband is a Vietnam Vet and proudly wears a baseball hat representing Vietnam Vets. The person who paid had stopped by our table to thank my husband for his service but left the restaurant before we were told he had paid. My husband has carried some of the emotional pain from the war and how they were treated when they returned home. I think that random act did more to sooth that emotional pain than anything else so I will always be grateful to that young man. We’ve paid it forward, of course!ReplyCancel

Lovely card, as always, Ms. Becca.
The tokens of kindness I always want to pay forward are the unexpected kindnesses…sometimes a few words, sometimes an unexpected gift of money in a very tight financial place, especially in my younger, struggling years. Being able to pass along knowledge turned to wisdom in raising special needs children, gentle love, grace for those who are harsh toward themselves…time, those are the kindnesses I want to pay forward as they have been so meaningful to me.ReplyCancel

Happy Friday, Becca. What a gorgeous card. I love your sentiment it makes me smile every time I run it through my mind and Every time I see one of your cards with such elegant feminine florals they make my heart sing. Where in the world do you find all of them! and lastly your use of lace, ribbon and 1/2 pearls to finish your exquisite card. Love your work and inspiration. TFS
I can’t say that I have ever had some one offer me anything, but what my family has done is to donate cars to our local charity to fix them up and give them to someone less fortunate. I guess that is a sort of ‘paying it forward’ isn’t it.

  • Karen M. RothApril 22, 2016 - 9:12 pm

The one thing that sticks out in my mind the most about a kindness I want to pay forward was on the day of a almost fatal sand truck (Dump truck) accident I was in back in 1998. I was in the ER getting ready to leave after getting my stitches put in the side of my side where it had busted open after being thrown around the truck cab after the seat belt broke.I caught site of the firemen and paramedics who had rescued me and one of the younger most strapping young men( who was the one who pulled me out of the truck. As I was technically dead on the scene. I remember only one thing….I was floating and was then standing in an area that was golden and bright. It was nothing like the place I was living, this was full of love, warmth, and grace when I felt a loving hand on my right shoulder telling me it was not yet my time that my job was not finished. Just like that I was back in my own body and the young man was yelling for the Jaws of Life when I hazily looked up and said no you don’t I can get myself out.)

As I looked up at him to say thank you he had tears in his eyes and was weeping because as in his own words, ” When we showed up on the scene and he saw the truck in 3 pieces and the passenger side crushed and he climbed onto the driver’s side of the cab as it was on it’s side part way in the ditch and he saw a lifeless body(ie: me) he was not expecting a survivor.” He had stayed at the ER the entire time I was there constantly checking up on me and my status. Then when he saw me he wept tears of joy and gave me a hug. I never learned his name but this touched me so deeply I cannot even tell you just how much.

Because most of my life had been spent being abused in multiple ways and neglected in many ways and always unwanted, unloved, abandoned. I never knew what love really was nor do I still except for the love God showed me by dying for me. I am working through multiple issues right now that have had a very bad bearing on my finances.Due to the wrong perception of love and life due to the abuses I went through as a young child and into my adult years and listening to the lies Satan fed me day and night about my not being worthy of love unless I performed y or x usually in the form of sex. Plus, my health is in very bad shape as I may have ingested a Waterborne bacterium that colonized in our water pipes. I am so very ill right now.

Sorry if this is TMI, but I wanted to try to explain why it had meant so much to me.ReplyCancel

Becca, your card is stunning and what happened to you in a shop is beautiful! I remember a young dad with a girl was chasing me and my daughter for quite a while just to give back a balloon my daughter let go of. So sweet!ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca,
What a lovely thing to do. You never know what a person is going through & the smallest thing can mean a lot to somebody when they are going through a tough time or bump in their life. The other day a family member won a significant amount of money & said she would help out my disabled niece & her mother who has now been sadly diagnosed with breast cancer, (It is early stages so God willing she get through it fine). I may not be able to always give people money but I try my best of helping out any way I can.
    Have a lovely weekend xReplyCancel

What a lovely card again today, Becca! Isn’t it amazing how the Lord sometimes blesses us with surprises along the way to encourage us?! One act of faithful kindness which we receive regularly is a some of money paid into our account “from Jesus.” Isn’t that special?!ReplyCancel

Oh Becca! What an uplifting tale! I’m so happy for you. And your card is lovely. When I fell and broke my arm in four pieces and damaged my shoulder, wrist and elbow, my sister-in-law and a friend came to my rescue on more than one occasion. They were such a blessing and I’ll never forget their kindness and thoughtfulness.
    Hugs

Hi Becca, What a lovely, kind person, you must have been ‘bowled over’. I can’t remember being on the receiving end, but I have often done it for others, and that in itself gives me joy.
Lots of love from Patricia xxReplyCancel

What a beautiful card, and a great story! When I was on the high school math team, I got really sick before the last event of the year, the one that would determine if we would be state champs… I of course wanted to participate, but my coaches knew better. A week before, they told me over the phone that my best friend would replace me so she could have time to study and practice. As devastated as I was, I helped my friend learn and do the best she could given the time and the fact that it wasn’t her strong area of expertise. I was well enough to go with the team to the final meet. I rooted them on, and they came out champs! I was very proud of them all. Later on, my coaches came and told me how proud they were of *me* for being a great team player, and for showing maturity and thoughtfulness. They didn’t think my friend could do as well without my support. I was floored… I never expected to hear anything like that. That simple praise has colored how I live my life… I work hard for the team, and support people as best as I can. I always remember that praise, out of nowhere, can affect people so deeply, so I always try to give praise where it is warranted. One never knows when praise can truly change someone’s outlook in life, like it did for me.ReplyCancel

Beautiful card! I help a lot of senior citizens with computers and they always want to “pay” you which I just cannot accept. I finally realized that it relieves the pressure on them to accept something. So I tell them if they pay me, I will make a donation to the local animal welfare group in their name. That makes both of us happy!ReplyCancel

    Gorgeous card!
A kindness shown to me was that a co-worker got a tray of sandwiches made at a local deli when my father passed away. I have lost touch with her since she moved out of the area, but I think of her often.ReplyCancel
