Oh, you can’t fault me for dreaming that there really were butterflies like these!! I’m having lots of fun with the patriotic sets that Our Daily Bread Designs released for May. The two sets used here are In God We Trust for the sentiment and God Bless America for the flag. Believe it or not, this was a fairly quick card. By the way, the link for my current Blog Candy is at the bottom of this post/
I colored up the flag image with Copics, and cut the butterfly shapes using Spellbinders Flying Beauties, adding flower stamens for antennas and pearls along the back. Then I embossed the background with Spellbinders Flower Impressabilities on to white cardstock. Because I really wanted to see the embossing, I swiped a sponge across the panel with Faded Jeans Distress Ink. The frame is Spellbinders Decorative Frames that also embosses dreamy swirls that I stenciled in with the same Faded Jeans Color. I finished up with Spellbinders Tags 5 to hold the sentiment.
I’ve really fallen in love with this stacked look. I colored the flag with Copics and because I didn’t have the right red, a richer red, the image seemed awfully flat to me. To break it up some and cover up some of my boo boo’s this was the best remedy I think. The dimension gave me a place to tuck away the Spellbinders Doodleparts and tie my ribbon. The Our Daily Bread Design set used here is God Bless America.
I staggered the layers by using Spellbinders Classic Squares Small and Spellbinders Classic Squares Large as well as Spellbinders Classic Rectangles Small and Spellbinders Classic Rectangles Large. I know it’s hard to see here, but I only used one colored flag and cut all the layers at the same time, so if you look behind the scenes, you would see a hole in each layer of the flag. For the blue tiers, each panel is cut separately and there are no holes. I finished up with the sentiment on a small tag using Spellbinders Tags 5.

Oh my gosh, LOOOOOOOOVE the patriotic butterflies. TOOOOO COOL! Love the tag layered with the ribbon and button too, and you’ve really showcased the impressabilities beautifully with the blue on top of white.
Lovely butterflies!! I can tell you are having a lot of fun with these stamps!! Beautiful cards as always!
Beautiful. LOVE the butterflies. And the embossed bg inside the frame is awesome.

Both those cards are awesome! I have been wanting to see the impressabilites in action.
Fabulous cards, as usual, Becca! I really like the first one best, I think, although it’s hard to choose. Love the way the layers look and who would have ever thought of using the patriotic paper for the butterflys–great idea!
Wow Becca, both of these cards are over-the-top creations! So loving the patriotic butterflies, the stamps, the papers, the designs, I could go on all day! Once again, you’ve knocked me off my chair!
WOW!!! I don’t know which card I like the best! These are both gorgeous! I love your “thinking outside of the box” so to speak with both of these designs (the butterflies and the stacked image). Wow!

What brings me back to your website are your beautiful detailed cards, you have inspired me to put more details into my work. Also, the ribbon you use, it has made me use more ribbon. The cyber world is blessed to have someone like you. May Gob bless you.

I’m so inspired by the patriotic cards you’ve made lately. They are all gorgeous!!

Hey girlfriend!! These are gorgeous!! Hope you had a fabulous Mother’s Day and a good weekend.
What a beautiful card! Those butterflies are just fantastic. I love your ideas for cards.
Just beautiful — when you see red, white, and blue in this context you can really see just what a beautiful combination they are, and always have been!
Your patriotic cards are BREATHTAKING!
My mother’s birthday (and her mother’s, before her) is JULY 4, so I’ve had a SPECIAL love of patriotic decor and memorabilia my entire life — and each year, I attempt to create SPECIAL handmade “Stars & Stripes” birthday cards for her. (I write “attempt,” because mine are PITIFUL in comparison to your creations!!)
But, thanks to your generosity in sharing step-by-step instructions, I have HOPE that this year’s card may be my BEST, yet!
(If I had to name ONE product that you routinely use to inspire me, it would be the Nestabilities dies. The way you layer and customize the die-cuts just AMAZES me!!)
God bless you as you bless others ~
Great butterflies!! I love your card
Love the stack look! Beautiful artwork! Old Glory never looked so good!
Really amazing cards, they are just beautiful and love how you used so many things on them too to create them. I keep coming back to your blog to check out how you use the different spellbinders and Our Daily Bread Stamp sets. You totally rock with your creations, love them all. Phyllis M.
Great cards as always!! The butterflies are really cool.
Amazing cards Becca! I wasn’t sure what I thought about the stamp set when it was released (lack of imagination on my part – lol). Now that I’ve seen a masters work with it I’m in love with the stamps (not to mention the frames, dies, ribbon,etc…..). Thanks for sharing – Jean

From A Military Wife
These patriotic cards are fantastic. I like the stacked layers on the second one…very cool effect. Also like the use of the buttons. Your attention to the little details makes your cards so appealing.
How beautiful these are….I had not seen the Amazing Butterflies yet….think an order will be forthcoming. Still trying to wind and still in awe of your technique.
Absolutely beautiful on both cards. You are the first thing I check on my computer each morning and anytime I need inspiration. Thanks for sharing all your great ideas. I love your use of colors, your ability to put a special slant on an idea, and your use of ribbons, spellbinders, and justrite.
Becca, these are so inspiring… they’re not cards, they’re works of art and need to be framed & hanging on a wall in the foyer or the kitchen!! I can just picture it :-> I rushed over to ODB and purchased these stamps the minute I saw your first set of cards on the other day’s blog entry. This set is simply stunning as well. Thank you for sharing your creativity… I am speechless and in awe, everytime I see your designs.
Oh my goodness Becca!! Both of these are so ultra creative!! I’m totally in awe!! LOVE the flag butterflies!! And the layered flag spotlighting is amazing!! GORGEOUS!!
Wow! You combined two of my favorite things! Butterflies and our flag. If I ever got another tatoo it would so be your butterfly. Fab!

I love how you used the flags to make butterflies. What a creative idea!
Your cards leave me breathless!!! WOW!
Becca, these are wonderful cards.
I love the flag card the best. I am not sure I understand what you meant by using one colored flag and then the holes. Is there an easy way of showing us or telling about it further? I really love the way the flag is stacked and adds so much dimension. Does it end up being very thick then?
I like the butterflies too but the flag one just really catches my attention. Thanks so much for sharing these with us.
Becca, Great cards!!!! I have been looking for some great designs to send to those serving in the military! The stacked one is awesome! Do you mind if I CASE it to send to a servicemen/women? Again great job!!!
Very nice patriotic cards… love the butterfly!
I do like how you do the layers. Lovely cards.

Your creations are absolutely amazing!!!!! Each time I visit your blog it is hard to wait to see what you will come up with next. I love how you made the butterflies very creative and beautiful. Thanks for shaing your creativity with all of us.
I have had a spellbinder for a couple of years and a few dies but stumped on what to do with it. I just found out about your site today from a lady at the Puyallup WA. stamp convention and she said you have so many neat ideas so just checked it out. I am totally impressed. You have great ideas and I hope to get inspiration from your site to what I make use of my cutting machine. I love card making and have been a rubber stamper for 15 plus years but the dies are new to me. I am looking forward to your newsletter.
Thanks for your site
Billie
I’ve read the other comments and I cannot think of another way to say,
“You did another fabulous job”.
So there it it, I said it again.
