God Grant Me the Serenity

WRBF-3813-2013
Sweet blog friends, can I just tell you that it’s a magnificent day!  It’s simply glorious!  I picked a sentiment that has been sitting on the edge of my desk for the better part of a month and I knew there would be a right day to make it into a card.  The Serenity Prayer is one I never tire of giving and I never tire of getting.  It’s a blessing to be reminded what to pursue and what to let go of.  Powerful, hunh?  My sweet friend Suzanne at Quietfire Design penned this and it’s simply gorgeous – a welcome addition to my stash as I know it will get multiple uses.  Ever not know what to say to someone for awkward occasions, both happy and sad?  My experience leads me to know that even if you are at a loss for words, saying something — anything — is a blessing.  That’s where this little gem comes into play, I’ve sent it for sympathy, divorce, didn’t get the job, lost the house, someone who was struggling with whether to voice a truth, or even just because…you get the picture :-)

I love how Spellbinders™ Radiant Rectangles can be used as a frame – I chose it because it was a good size for this largish sentiment (3.75″ tall).  To break up the space and give me a place for embellishment, I crossed it with a panel using A2 Scalloped Borders One.  This grouping sits on a cream layer cut using Spellbinders™ 5 x 7 Matting Basics B and then of course my card base was made using Spellbinders™ 5 x 7 Matting Basics A (yields a card sized at 4-7/8″ x 6-7/8″).

Oh, Becca, this is so beautiful! I’m wishing I had all the “ingredients” to make one like this right now ~ it would be perfect for my friend who’s going through a divorce. This has been a long time in the making, but I know it’s still difficult for her. At 54, she’s moving to a new residence and leaving a 30-year marriage ~ can’t imagine what that must be like. But it’s an ending that’s also a new beginning for her!
I’ll definitely be trying this one out! TFS!!!ReplyCancel

Absolut stunning card AND sentiment too Becca. I also agree to every word you said about it, it is sooo true. I have known this saying for years and used it more often, than I can count, but to actually get it on a stamp now, is absolutely perfect, and is moving into my stash as soon as I can move it here, that´s for sure. Boy I wish I had had it just last week, when I had to send another Sympathycard again unfortunately, cause it would´ve been sooo perfect there, as it was a very dear friend, who passed, but I don´t know her family very well, so it was sooo hard to know, what to say to them, and here this would´ve been sooo perfect. I agree too, that it´s always better to say “something” no matter what, than just to keep silent, even if it´s just to tell them, you don´t know, what to say, but you´ll be there for them, if they need it.
Thank you sooooo very much for always helping us get those awesome things, we all need now and then, but which it doesn´t seems, many cpompagnies would think of, but you always do Becca, and that is sooo awesome, and so are you hun.
Have a wonderful day and hopefully a lot of fun and joy everyone.ReplyCancel

Becca, I have never seen such beautiful work; I believe the word “masterpiece” was created to describe your cards. Thank you so much for sharing your talent (as God intended us to do) and for the wonderful tutorials. The videos are so easy to understand and follow. Thank you again and God Bless you.ReplyCancel
