Introducing Shadowbox Vignettes Blog Hop

3D Depth and Dimension are the order of the day!  Hi there, today we are sharing with you a great new Amazing Paper Grace collection with a blog hop featuring Shadowbox Vignettes.  It is a followup to my favorite 3D Vignettes Collection and at the core of the collection are a set of Shadowbox Frames that will allow you to make a frame any size you can furnish the paper for.  These frames sport a face that is 1/2″, 3/4″ or 1″

Whether you are hanging your kids’ artwork on the fridge with a lightweight frame changed out every season or if you are sending your glorious dimensional cards is a frame with a lid – there are so many ways to use these Shadowbox Vignettes dies.  In fact, we think they are a great addition to your crafting toolbox.  If you’ve looked at the die and cannot quite imagine how it goes together, well never fear, there is a video for that and I’ll show it at the end of my post.  The video has extra 3D inspired projects not seen here, so be sure to have a peek or even fast forward to the end.

About 3D Shadowbox Vignettes

Layered Die sets were introduced with 3D Vignettes and people quickly realized you could use them standing alone in cards or you could use them layered together in a diorama.  Shadowbox Vignettes continues the tradition and as you might guess, the layering sets can be used in both Shadowbox Vignettes and 3D Vignettes.  In addition to the 3 core adjustable frames and the four layering sets, I designed a host of embellishments sized to fit your frames as well as your standalone cards.  I’m particularly tickled by the easel (necessary to stand a shadowbox frame on a desk) that also transforms into a pocket or a basket.

My Projects For Today.

This is the 1/2″ frame.  It is 1/2″ on the face and I’ve cut it into a 5″ x 7″ frame for a card.

This is the 3/4″ frame.  It is 3/4″ on the face and I’ve cut it into a 5″ x 7″ frame for a card.
S4-980 – Adjustable Shadowbox Frame with 3/4″ Border

This is the 1″ frame.  It is 1″ on the face and I’ve cut it into a 5″ x 7″ frame for a card.
S4-981 – Adjustable Shadowbox Frame with 1″ Border

I wanted to make the same card using each of the frames so that you can see the difference.  I’d love to share how I’ve been using them in my daily crafting.  The 1/2″ frame is perfect for small shallow boxes – to hold a small picture, as an accenting border on a card.    The 3/4″ frame is great for pictures and for highlight depth, especially in layering scenes.  The 1″ frame is great for 12×12 scrapbook pages, refrigerator art and for making 3D items.  No one frame is limited – I’ve used each frame for every idea I’ve given here.  Here’s what the dies look like:

Introducing Shadowbox Vignettes by Amazing Paper Grace for Spellbinders - featuring Adjustable 1/2", 3/4" and 1" Frames for detail see www.amazingpapergrace.com/?p=34590
What I like best about the frames is that they can be made to any size – 5 x 7, 4.25 x 5.5, 12 x 12, it’s up to you.  All of my frames today are 5 x 7 because that’s the size card I normally make.

The 1″ frame is always cut from a 4″ strip of paper and then the edging dies cut the paper for the proper miters and fit.
The 3/4″ frame is always cut from a 3″ strip of paper and then the edging dies cut the paper for the proper miters and fit.
The 1/2″ frame is always cut from a 2-1/8″ strip of paper and then the edging dies cut the paper for the proper miters and fit.

Each leg of the frame is cut to match the dimension you want – for instance a 5 x 7 inch frame will have two legs that are 5″ and two legs that are 7″.  There are two matching bookend (left and right) dies in each set.  You cut two with the straight edge and two with the tabbed edge for 4 to make the 4 legs of the frame.  I encourage you to watch the video.  It will all make sense, I promise!

Here is how they stand up – the easel is so cute!!
