I’m doing a little bit of cleaning in my studio today. You know, one day I will share pictures, but I don’t feel like I’m any where close to that right now (hee…hee….) I have just enough path to walk from the door to where I sit. I just have enough cleaning time to widen that path a little bit. Where is that "pause" button just when I need it, LOL? In the interim I have a card to share that I’ve not shared here yet. I don’t often get technique-y here because I don’t get a lot of time to experiment with inks and such, more of my experimentation is done with papers and creating templates. Anyways this is it in all it’s simplicity — no major layering, I just cut the square frame using Spellbinders™ Classic Squares LG for a clean finished look. At some stamp convention I went to many years ago they had samples done with this batik resist technique and I decided to try it using clear embossing powder and reinkers.
For the technique basically you emboss your image using clear embossing powder, swish on reinkers as if you watercoloring then cover the image with paper and iron. What happens is the embossing powder is melted and absorbed into the cover paper. It leave the original outlines and looks somewhat like batik!

I did this card over a year ago when I was on the Dirty Dozen . . . my, my, my how time flies. Just in looking at it and some of the other things I made during that era, I’m able to see how much my style changes. Just like music has a Top 40’s that includes some of every genre but nothing too extreme — that’s the kind of stamper I am, meaning I like some of everything – I want to try it all. How about you?

Beautiful card Becca~~I, like you, try different techniques when I get a chance. Right now I am interested in silk embroidery on paper. Basically I do layering for everyday however~~TFS!
You just described the way my craft room looks at the moment perfectly. Am trying to do an hour a day….TRYING! Just putting things away is one thing, but when you’re trying to do things differently for storage purposes, it’s more time consuming yet. Your card is a reminder of how to use a stamp design and easily add a lot of different colors to it, that don’t require a lot of “coloring”tools. Also love the way you add the different accent touches…this one being paper coming out of the frame, up and over some lightly folded ribbon. Flourish and pearls added, but of course! Great job as always Becca.

Oh yeah..I amjust like you, as far as, I just want to try it all. Thanks for the technique. I will have to see what mine will look like. Maybe next week,,,like you the time just flies by and no extra time left thisweek to squeeze in something new. Only because I have to do it a ton of times to get the look. I like your card it was colorful!

Im in the middle of organizing my stamp room as well. Feels really good but it’s hard to be productive and organize but it will be worth it in the end. I’m really searching for reasonable wooden flat files to put all my stamps in so they will be easy to access – open a drawer and everything is visible. They are currently in deep rolling bins and I dread looking for a specific stamp – especially a little one!

Very nice. Great Color Combination. I remember going to a class for a batik technique. It was fun to do and the results was great. I think I have a couple of papers with this technique in my stash. I’ll have to go look. Thanks for triggering my memory.

Beautiful card as all of yours are. I’m not sure I will be trying this technique either but it is nice to see new things. We all do change our style over time and it is fun to look back and sometimes it is a real surprise.

What an interesting technique, and it made a gorgeous card. I am going to have to give this technique a try. I have a whole bedroom since my daughter no longer lives at home, which I’ve converted to my sewing/crafting room. Guess where I stamp? At the dining room table! Are you sure you’re not in my craft room? Maybe if we both work on our paths, we’ll find our paths connect, and we’ll bump into each other! LOL! I really need to get in there and organize, but it’s pretty overwhelming. I know that if I had it cleaned up and organized, I’d be able to be more efficient in my card making, and get more done. Guess I’ll just have to do it a little at a time until it’s done. Kind of on the same principle as the old, “How do you eat an elephant?” “One spoonful at a time.”
I want to do it all is an attitude I recognize. It helps that you experiment with it all. You have no idea how much time that saves me and just let’s me get to it! Thanks, I love your work and the tone of your themes.

Absolutely! I have even been looking at doing some felting. The richness of the yarn colors fascinate me. Love this card, even if it is a year old. some of the oldie but goodies are just as good as today’s beauty’s.
When I started stamping about 12 years ago, everything I did was pretty simple, but then there wasn’t as much to work with back then. I, too, have an evolving style since I’ve not been completely active in stamping all that time, and getting back into it more lately, I’ve found so much more to work with. I’ve also found blogging recently (gotta love that), and learned more styles, like all the layers with spellbinders, and cuttlebug. I’ve discovered so many new things to work with, my style is becoming much more elaborate than it used to be (but not all the time, ha!). Make sense? Love that card and am definitely going to try that resist technique, it’s great!
No matter how long ago you made this card, it is still beautiful! I love the way the batik effect came through. So cool. Thanks for sharing.

I love going back and bringing back old techniques that we have purchased all the fun supplies for and then we move on then years later we are reminded of the techniques and have to play with them again. Love the stamp too I’ll have to check out their booth this coming weekend at the convention. Hopefully they are there. I know they will be at the Puyallup show in May and I’ll grab the stamp then. Beautiful colors too.

I love the framing with that little piece of craft paper peeking out and over the ribbon. I too am ‘frustrated’ trying to really organize my craft room – but it takes time – and then I am easily distracted……

I’m not afraid to try different techniques. I may not be the best at what I do, but no one will ever say that at least I didn’t give it a try. A stamping on line club that I am a member of, someone asked what is your style and I answered I don’t have one I’m still trying to find one.
Your card is very pretty Becca. I like the batik technique it always leaves the person wondering how did they do that. LOL!!! Your eye is really drawn into the focal. Nice work Becca, as always TFS!!! :-D

I feel fortunate. My art room. (Revised son’s bedroom.) Works pretty well. I have a little path, that I can at least fit boxes of deliveries in through that leads to my work table. Everything else, is so close to it, that I can reach everything from the table area, or on my path. My path has pearls hanging on the wall in baggies, (with pretty labels, of course!) I have several of those plastic stackable drawers with all of my pre-stamping days things in it…stickers, die-cuts…things that could be used on a card. My ribbon is either in baggies by color in a big beautiful basket. If on the roll, it is on a ribbon holder…made of wood, 2 ends and 1 roll between. All of my things have a place. I have an 8 foot cabinet full of paper! That is where I need help! I try to add pretty color-
coordinated labels on things. I have my stamps sorted in boxes, floral, inantimate, people, hearts, Christmas. I have the Christmas box wrapped in Christmas paper. The florals in flowery wrapping paper. (Paper I had) The others co-ordinate with regular wrapping paper. It wouldn’t pass for Martha Stewart…but it works for me (mostly.)
I love your card! I think the style in the back is just a beautiful style to use for simple Easter cards. Put a simple (Oh, I forgot you don’t know that word.LOL) flower, and sentiment, with some of the batik look in light spring colors. Beautiful!
Becca, I do not have the machine you have to cut your frame. I would love to be able to make them. Do you have a tutorial on how to hand do it? I have a cricut machine with “Stamping Solutions” on it. It cuts the shape of the frame…but on one piece of c.s. How could I thicken it? Becca, please help me figure this out. :)

This is a simply beautiful card. I understand about the craft room. I’m in the process of arranging……..again. I get sooooooo proud of myself when I have everything in it’s place, but why doesn’t it last I ask???
My dream is to have it all where it belongs and no deadline for a certain card, but just time to experiment and play. Oh, I can dream, can’t I???
