More Precious to Me Than Gold

I was dying to play along with the Technique Challenge for the week  (TLC182) which was to make a clear goodie box.  I scoped out some cool black velvet paper that was in my stash and decided to pair it with gold.  Well once I got the box most of the way done, I came across this sentiment that gave me an idea for a card  that would work well with the box.  Since the sentiment says "Your Friendship is more precious to me than gold; It’s richer than rubies and sparkles more than diamonds….well the challenge was on.  The card was going to have gold and would sparkle with diamonds!  You may be tired of it  now really sick of it now, but I hauled out my new Gratitude Cuttlebug Embossing Plate again!!  The thing I have found with that embossing plate (other than it being my new favorite)  is that it works well as a grid to help line things up which is what I did with the rhinestones on the main panel of the card.

A part of the challenge was to see what different items could be used to fill the box.  So, when I was making the box, I thought  it would be neat to fill it with money to go with the theme of the card.

The black velvet and shiny gold proved to be difficult to photograph, and the color of the ribbon is really gold although it looks peachy.   Unfortunately the flatness of the photography does not do the card justice…it looks rich and the textures are scrumptious.  I’m not sure exactly why I’m so drawn to the black velvet, but Elvis would be proud!

I absolutely love this idea for the box and the card. My niece is getting ready to go off to college and we’ve waited to have her graduation party until now so that she could get stuff that she would need in the dorm. Instead of imposing my tastes in “stuff” on her, I was going to just give her money, but when I saw your box idea Becca, I said, I’m going to make that!!! I’m going to start on it tonight when I get home from work. What an excellent idea — THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR LIMITLESS INSPIRATION. God Bless you and keep you safe (so we can see more goodies!) Hugs, DebiReplyCancel
