My heart just melted . . .I have to tell you this story. I’ve been married for 26 years and today my husband surprised me in such a way that my heart just melted. It happens all the time but this was a really big one. I was gone most of the day and had left him at home – there was tons of stuff I needed to do. Whenever I finally did get home he told me he had to make a confession. What? I was standing back in the bedroom and he opened up his dresser drawer and pulled out a small pile of papers. He said I’ve been working on this card for you and I got stuck . . . THUD!! After I got up off the floor, I looked at what he had in his hands and it was all of the pieces of the above card, minus the ribbon and minus the wording and plus some other punched borders he was going to try out. You see he had gone over to my studio and knew what he wanted to do but didn’t know where to find the items. Had he not hit that obstacle, he would have finished without me knowing it. I took the pieces in my hand and looked them over incredulously . . . I realized that when he would come out to talk to me while I was stamping, he was really watching me. He was mentally recording how to do things and where I stored things. You can’t imagine how long I was speechless. And, you can’t imagine how long I smiled. I’m telling you, my heart simply melted. So he asked, can you help me find the other things I need? I told him, "For Sure!" He said, now you can’t post this!! Then I said "Of course honey, I won’t."
So we went over to the studio and located the JustRite Letters for his sentiment and the ribbon. I know what you are thinking. You’re thinking that I put my hands on this card. Well, I did, but only to tie that piece of red ribbon. Otherwise this was all my sweeties doing – he knows how to use Spellbinders and from watching me he used an aquapainter and colored that rose on his own! Not bad for a first attempt, hunh? This is why 26 years has flown by and how I know I’m more blessed than is humanly possible.

It must be a female reaction because my heart melted too. That is the sweetest thing. Absolutely priceless. My father is from the old school and doesn’t wear his heart on his sleeve. Quite a few years ago on Valentine’s Day he went out in the snow and walked the words I LOVE YOU! My mom still talks about it today. Your husband is a keeper!!!
Becca that is one of the sweetest things I think I have heard in a very long time. What a Truly loving thing to do. Especially when you think he was paying note to all you were doing for how long? SO THAT he too could make the card for you. Just too sweet for words. He certainly Loves you, where you Live, too so to speak…..too much!

Wow, its the little things like this that they do that floor you the most. You can see the love and attention that he put into this card and for him to go into “uncharted territory” to do this for you shows how much he loves and adores you. Well done Mr “Becca Stamps” you da man! xx
Your husband is wonderful, he obviously does not take you for granted even after 26 years (same as me actually). Mine also likes to show his appreciation but I don’t think he would go the length of actually trying to make a card….you luck thing!

What can you say!! It’s not the beautiful finished project; it’s not the colors chosen; it’s not the layout (which is fantastic); it’s not the ability to use a die cut machine or other tools; it’s not even the sentiment – it’s the fact that he is so in love with you that he wanted to reach deep in his heart to try to express his feelings for you by ‘creating’ something with his own hands!! How blessed you are! I’ll be married 26 years in April and mine is great, too (although I couldn’t see him doing this-he wouldn’t know where to begin to look for a thing in my room, but he makes up in many, many other ways).

How special is that? It’s funny what our husbands see. I will be in my craft corner and my husband and kids often come to see what I am playing with. He plays with the punches, stamps and has even made a few of my sons scrapbook pages. He is a woodworker/carpenter so he fully understands the need to create and play too! What a nice thing your husband did for you. It truly is the little things that make life so grand!

Becca,, I check your blog daily and absolutly love your cards. I get so many ideas and inspiration from your site. But today tops all of them. Not because it is the most beautiful or the most intricate card but because its one of the most heartfelt and sincere cards ever. My dh is my best critic, my encourager, and cheerleader but he would never attempt to make me a card. He and WalMart are friends in the card section. I save every one he gives me because I know that the ones he picks out are from his heart. But, to have my hubby even pick up a stamp would just drop me. And we have been married 41 years. What a wonderful memory for both of you. God IS good.
Okay Becca – I’m amazed!!!! Your hubby made such a beautiful “from the heart” gift for you – AND he did it so well. He’s obviously had a great teacher – even if you didn’t know you were teaching.

Your story made me smile…yes you are very lucky….and made we want to share my quick story. I am in a wonderful relationsip for the last 7 years. A week before Valentines day my sweetie ended up in the hospital having a quaruple bypass and valve replacement. I surely didn’t expect anything for valentines. Just like your husband, my partner has been watching me….even though I am just starting to learn myself. When he came out of surgery…the next day even though highly medicated, he told me he had secretly made me a card and hid it in the closet, but not to look until Valentines day. Here is a man with a VERY BIG HEART……. I will share your story with him today at the hospital.

congratulations on 26 years of marriage! That’s so great! This year will be 16 for us. That was really sweet of your husband to do that for you–brought tears to my eyes too! My husband spent hours last year for our 15th putting together a card with multiple pages. He used pictures from our wedding and different verses from the Bible to express his love for me. It was very touching.

I was hoping my hubby would do something like that but guess what – I got one even better – since I don’t generally clean up after myself, he came into my studio and cleaned the laminate floor on his hands and knees – while I was making his valentine card! that is the cutest and most wonderful story ever! My husband looks over my shoulder occasionally to offer suggestions or ‘inventions’ to make my life easier, but the most he has offered (and I am not complaining mind!) is to pick a card off of our card program on the computer and print it out for me :)

I would have thought he had been making cards for years and actually, I would have guessed it to be one of yours, so he is a really good student in observation :). Now you know you will have to do a scrapbook page and place that card as the star of the page with the entire story journaled.
