I love new releases!!!  Today there’s a new release for JustRite Stamps called Give Thanks – Nested Frames.  I’m getting those fall stirrings and I almost think that the more I dream and reflect on my favorite fall things like cider and pie, Thanksgiving, russet leaves and the smell of a fire place, the quicker it will get here.  Well, I guess a gal can dream (sigh)!   It will be here soon enough right?  Well I love pulling out fall tones so that’s what I’ve done with this card.  All of the nested collections at JustRite lend themselves to stacking very well, so I really went with the layers today.

To set this up I created a base with Spellbinders Labels Seventeen #5.  On top of the base I layered one of the square nested frames cut with Spellbinders Long Classic Rectangles LG #4.  My next layer up is cut with Spellbinders Mega Ovals LG #2 and #4 followed by an additional rectangle cut with Long Classic Rectangles LG #2.  My center, the Give Thanks sentiment, was cut by hand (ahem, that cut by hand thing is a very rare occurrence in my life).  Along the left edge of the card I cut a border with Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Border Petites

To finish off I tied a bow and added these fun flower filigree pieces.  They all bell caps for jewelry, but I flattened them with a wood block and they make a nice embellishment to draw your eye along the bottom edge of the card.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  JustRite Stampers:
Paper:  The Paper Studio – Family Heirloom
Ink:  Ancient Page – Bordeaux
Accessories:  Spellbinders Labels Seventeen, Spellbinders Long Classic Rectangles LG, Spellbinders Mega Ovals LG, Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Border Petites, Filigree Bell Caps, Ribbon

Thanks so much for your kind comments!!  Your stopping by simply makes my day!!

    Hey Becca,

Another beauty of a card. You never cease to amaze me.

BTW, I can smell wood burning from a neighbours house. The leaves are turning colour and it’s a crisp 9C, right now. Not sure what that is in Farenheit but it’s chilly, here in Ontario, Canada.

You are welcome to come up for a cuppa. Fall is only days away but it is, surely, Fall now.

Keep on keep on, my friend. Look forward, as always, to each day’s look at your blog.

I love the layered effect, Becca! I think you have a real knack of designing your cards so they ‘pull’ the viewer in. In other words your cards are not flat!

Thank you for sharing with us.ReplyCancel

I love your creativity Becca, it’s nice to see someone who is not afraid of a hammer and a woodblock to make something fit! Card it beautiful and the extra “flattened” out embellies are just the perfect touch! Thanks again for sharing!ReplyCancel

Lovely card and also sweet thoughts about autumn. It seems to be a big thing your side of the pond to relish the fall coming on. To most of us in the UK, it just means more miserable weather to follow the misterable weather of summer!!!

However, I love it that its harvest time and all natures foodstuff is ripe and ready. All the hardwork of the spring is coming to fruition and we’re enjoying, quite literally, the fruits of our labour.

Looking forward to more home grown produce next year.

I love it when that happens!!  I’m a background stamp kind of girl so no one was happier that me when one of the Our Daily Bread Designs releases this month was a background stamp.  For my card I’m showcasing the Brocade Background and using no design paper (insert scary music here).  Actually this really goes back to my roots — when I started stamping I always used some kind of background stamp and never would have dreamed of using design paper.  My how times change!!  This would look wonderful in any color, in fact before I settled on the blue I tried out several pigment inks.   I’m using a sentiment from the Full of Grace collection called Peace.

To show off the sentiment, I used one of my favorite new die templates, Spellbinders Labels Fourteen, matted.  Around the edge of the card I used two borders, Spellbinders Ric Rac Diamond Border Petites and Lotus Border Petites.  On top of the double tied bow is a large rhinestone brad and I added some crystal beads on a pin.

I thoroughly enjoyed my playtime today and if you haven’t played around with backgrounds lately, you should give it a try!!

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Our Daily Bread Designs – Peace
Paper:  The Paper Company, Bazzill
Ink:  Adirondack Denim Pigment Ink
Accessories:  Spellbinders Labels Fourteen, Spellbinders Ric Rac Diamond Border Petites, Spellbinders Lotus Border Petites, The Paper Studio – Spare Parts Brads, Swarovski Crystals, Satin Ribbon

Several of you have emailed to ask about the bright shiny thing I’ve been perching my cards on.  Can I first say that I was totally defeated by trying to get my cards to stand exactly where I’ve put them when getting ready to photograph.  I notice that others use a little floral frog but I didn’t have any luck with that – it was getting my cards dirty.  I found this stand at Michaels and apparently it holds candles.  I just flipped it upside down and simply slip my card in between those mega huge hulking crystals and it does not move.  I rarely stamp on the inside of my cards because I can’t get the card to stand stable enough to show the inside . . . hmmmm . . . maybe this will change now.  Hope this clears up the mystery :-)

This is absolutely stunning Becca. I love the background stamp and the colors you selected for the design, very rich and elegant. I’m not a DP girl. I absolutely love DP, but when I play with it, I’m afraid it looks like just that . . . . paper that’s been played with. I don’t have the talent and skill it takes to successfully design with it. You are a natural with it, as well as background stamps I might add! Hugs!!!ReplyCancel

You’re probably wondering where I’ve been.  I’m always only a keystroke away however over the last week or so I fought with my computer and the computer won!!  Sheesh it’s playing gotcha with me and at this point I’m crying uncle. I may have to wipe out my whole laptop, which I don’t want to do, so we’ll see how it goes.  I did take a break from the battle to make a card using one of the new JustRite Stampers Sets called Backyard Birds.
I used Spellbinders Labels Fifteen as the base for my focal panel and built it up using Lacey Squares and cutting a window with Standard Circles Small.  I love the Zva Creative Pearl Circles and in this case they really brighten the focal panel!  Everything is colored with Copic Markers.  On the inside I mounted a sentiment made by stamping a small portion of one of the borders and cutting it from Spellbinder Tags Five and mounting it on Labels Four.

Such a sweet image!!  I’ll be back with more this week :-)

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  JustRite Stamps – Backyard Birds
Paper: Prima – Annalee: Avondale, Bazzill
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Spellbinders Labels Fifteen, Standard Circles SM, Spellbinders Lacey Squares, Spellbinders Tags Five, May Arts Silk Ribbon – Taupe, Zva Creative Pearls, Copic Markers – RV32, B0000, B37 B34, B93, YR2

Happy Monday y’all!!

Yes I was wondering where you’ve been lately. You are my favorite blog to visit each day and it just doesn’t seem like you have been adding to your blog as often as you were. I was so worried that your husband was having health problems again, so I was quite relieved to know that it was your computer this time, although I do know what a hassle it can be to have to transfer all your “stuff” from one computer to another, or in your case “wipe it all out.” Hope whatever needs to be done, goes smoothly for you.ReplyCancel

I have learned the hard way. I invested in a external hard drive to put all my pictures and crafting stuff on. It was worth it, now I have no worries if the computer crashes. It was about $100.00 but oh so worth it. and you can plug it in to any computer. Your cards are beautiful as per usual. I look forward to your blog everyday so when you are not around you are missed.
