March 1st is new release day at Our Daily Bread Designs so I wanted to share a card made with one of the sentiments from the You are the Potter set.  Make sure you check in on the Our Daily Bread Designs blog for the list of festivities for the month!

The sentiment is mounted on stacked Spellbinders Octagons Large.  Okay, so you caught me — at the same time I wanted to try out new punches I got a couple of weeks ago.   The border punch at the bottom is Fleur de lis and the one I used on the Octagon is Lines and Dots.  I think they’re pretty cool!

    Oh wow! That card is so beautiful! I love the colors that you used. I don’t work with those colors hardly ever, but you make such beautiful creations with them, you have inspired me to broaden my horizons. Greetings!!  I bet you thought I fell off the face of the blog world, hunh?  My apologies – no posts since Tuesday!!  There is a reason for this; I am traveling along the coast of Florida.  Why?  What a pretty venue for a Copic Class and the first annual Flourishes Stampers Dream Weekend!!

This is a nice refreshing break for us as we’ve not travelled in so so long.  My family and I are RVing it along the coast of Florida so that I can attend the Copic Class and I actually taught a class for Flourishes yesterday.  Our campsite is right below this gorgeous lighthouse in Pensacola, Florida on the Naval Air Station.  The view is wonderful from here . . .

The sand along the northern gulf coast of Florida looks just like snow…okay, and I have to admit that although it rarely snows here, today it is quite cold.  Cold enough that I’m wearing my parka.  Ironic isn’t it?

Lucky me, I’ve figured out that I have internet at the campground so look for a post from me soon!.

    Hi! I love the pictures. I lived in Pensacola for several years while I attended Pensacola Christian College. I went to the naval museum once but never saw this light house. They next time I go up I will look for it. The beaches there are beautiful. Unfortunately, after one of the hurricanes a few years back I heard several of the beaches were washed away. The beaches in Pensacola are much more rural then other beaches in Florida. Your God given talent has really inspired me since I found your blog. Thank you for sharing with all of us.     What beautiful pictures! The beaches on the Gulf are the prettiest anywhere, and with the most beautiful sunsets, in my opinion. I hope you get to see a few of those. My husband and I used to RV down there alot, but haven’t got to go in a while now with the economy and all. :( But I hope you enjoy your trip, enjoy your classes, and look forward to “seeing” you back here soon.     Oh my!! My hubby stayed on the Naval Air Station in Pensacola in 1996. It was his forward training camp for the Paralympics that year in Atlanta. He was part of the British Disabled Air Rifle Shooting Team. The whole team were made honorary citizens of Pensacola and he is the proud owner of a certificate to prove it. He loved the place and these photo’s are just gorgeous.

    Hey Becca, your post and pictures just calmed me after reading about you getting away and then teaching something you love. What a blessing that must be.

    I just started my first quilt, a simple one (so they said) a rag quilt. I finally finished cutting out all those 9 inch squares (with my huband’s help) and now the sewing is so fun, I’m loving it.

My heart just melted . . .I have to tell you this story.  I’ve been married for 26 years and today my husband surprised me in such a way that my heart just melted.  It happens all the time but this was a really big one.  I was gone most of the day and had left him at home – there was tons of stuff I needed to do.  Whenever I finally did get home he told me he had to make a confession.  What?  I was standing back in the bedroom and he opened up his dresser drawer and pulled out a small pile of papers.  He said I’ve been working on this card for you and I got stuck . . . THUD!!  After I got up off the floor, I looked at what he had in his hands and it was all of the pieces of the above card, minus the ribbon and minus the wording and plus some other punched borders he was going to try out.  You see he had gone over to my studio and knew what he wanted to do but didn’t know where to find the items.  Had he not hit that obstacle, he would have finished without me knowing it.  I took the pieces in my hand and looked them over incredulously . . . I realized that when he would come out to talk to me while I was stamping, he was really watching me.  He was mentally recording how to do things and where I stored things.  You can’t imagine how long I was speechless.  And, you can’t imagine how long I smiled.  I’m telling you, my heart simply melted.  So he asked, can you help me find the other things I need?  I told him, "For Sure!"  He said, now you can’t post this!!  Then I said "Of course honey, I won’t."

So we went over to the studio and located the JustRite Letters for his sentiment and the ribbon.  I know what you are thinking.  You’re thinking that I put my hands on this card.  Well, I did, but only to tie that piece of red ribbon.  Otherwise this was all my sweeties doing – he knows how to use Spellbinders and from watching me he used an aquapainter and colored that rose on his own!  Not bad for a first attempt, hunh?  This is why 26 years has flown by and how I know I’m more blessed than is humanly possible.

It’s not the beautiful finished project; it’s not the colors chosen; it’s not the layout (which is fantastic); it’s not the ability to use a die cut machine or other tools; it’s not even the sentiment – it’s the fact that he is so in love with you that he wanted to reach deep in his heart to try to express his feelings for you by ‘creating’ something with his own hands!! How blessed you are!     How special is that? It’s funny what our husbands see. I will be in my craft corner and my husband and kids often come to see what I am playing with. He plays with the punches, stamps and has even made a few of my sons scrapbook pages. He is a woodworker/carpenter so he fully understands the need to create and play too!     Becca,, I check your blog daily and absolutly love your cards. I get so many ideas and inspiration from your site. But today tops all of them. Not because it is the most beautiful or the most intricate card but because its one of the most heartfelt and sincere cards ever. My dh is my best critic, my encourager, and cheerleader but he would never attempt to make me a card. He and WalMart are friends in the card section.     Your story made me smile…yes you are very lucky….and made we want to share my quick story. I am in a wonderful relationsip for the last 7 years. A week before Valentines day my sweetie ended up in the hospital having a quaruple bypass and valve replacement. I surely didn’t expect anything for valentines. Just like your husband, my partner has been watching me….even though I am just starting to learn myself. When he came out of surgery…the next day even though highly medicated, he told me he had secretly made me a card and hid it in the closet, but not to look until Valentines day. Here is a man with a VERY BIG HEART……. I will share your story with him today at the hospital.

My husband spent hours last year for our 15th putting together a card with multiple pages. He used pictures from our wedding and different verses from the Bible to express his love for me.     that is the cutest and most wonderful story ever! My husband looks over my shoulder occasionally to offer suggestions or ‘inventions’ to make my life easier, but the most he has offered (and I am not complaining mind!) is to pick a card off of our card program on the computer and print it out for me :)ReplyCancel

    Awwww, that is such a precious and sweet story. He did a fabulous job for his first card. I would have thought he had been making cards for years and actually, I would have guessed it to be one of yours, so he is a really good student in observation :). Now you know you will have to do a scrapbook page and place that card as the star of the page with the entire story journaled. What a wonderful, wonderful story to preserve for many future generations of your family. Thanks so much for sharing your story Becca. God bless you both.

    My Sweetheart has been gone EXACTLY 3 years to the day longer than yours.
    But I get his cards out that he has gave to me over the years and read them very often.
