Amazing Paper Grace July 2019 Die of the Month by Spellbinders - Graceful Concertina - learn about this die at www.amazingpapergrace.com/?p=35128
It’s that time again, play time!  Today I’m introducing the new Die of the Month, Graceful Concertina! It’s unlike anything I have in my stash.  On this particular die template, there are connectors on the side so that you connect one panel to the next and the next and so on.  As always, it is set up with a rim so that you can have a shadow layer and there is a small inlay panel.

Inspiration for Graceful Concertina

For this die, I worked backward to make sure the die could be used for more than just a card.  I think it makes a beautiful card, but it also makes a beautiful card, box, votive holder, envelope and more :-)  Since the card made with this template is easy peasy, today in the video I’m sharing how to make a quick box:

This is a concertina of three panels.  It could go on and on and on :-)  I like to think it could be used to make a mini album and I’m thinking to give it a try in the near future.  In particular, I’ve been wanting to make a “10 Things I Adore About You” and I think it will be perfect!!

This a two panel-shaped card.  It’s the quickest and easiest project to make :-)

Because of all the open lacey spaces, I thought this would make a fabulous votive holder using one of those battery operated candles.  It did not disappoint and the votive creates a soft glowing romantic light.

And finally, the box.  It’s just so different from other boxes, I couldn’t resist whipping one up.

I love how you connected the concertina panels with ribbon (a know of a couple other methods that don’t work ;->). Thank for taking the time to make us a tutorial for the box. Hi there friends, today we are having a blog hop to give you some inspiration for the June Die of the Month.  I just love this die set, the design inspiration was Battenburg Lace and I thought it would be perfect to design it into a corner.   This set is called Enchanting Batterburg Corners.  Oh, and also the winner from last weeks blog hop is listed at the bottom of my post.

I’ve always gotten a lot of mileage out of corner dies and my mind immediately thought of a gazillion ways to use it.  I took the opportunity to make a “large” square card – it’s much like what my UK friends make but I’ve also seen large store bought cards this size.  This one is a belated graduation card and I’m tickled with how it turned out. This Quietfire Design sentiment from the Every Day is a Journey Set seems perfect for the occasion.   In addition to the sentiment inside, there is room to put a pocket the size of a dollar bill so that I can enclose money or a pocket the size of a credit card so that I can add a gift card.  I’ll do that once I decide.

For this card, I cut four of the Battenburg pieces and trimmed the flaps to a scant 1/8″.  Then I taped them together by the flap.  It creates a beautiful square.  Then I took the small corner piece and a strip of 4″ paper and trimmed off the top using the upper rim and inlay.  I did the same on the bottom for a long centerpiece.  To finish off I cut the shadow of small corner piece from gold and layered it behind.

April has been the most awesome month!!  If you joined us for the Introduction of Vintage Treasures – stay tuned to the end of my post where we have a couple of winners to share.  In the meantime, can I tell you that I’m so smitten with the Elegant Swivel and Sashay Die Set, the April Die of the Month!  Be sure to see the twist and pop type cards I created, check out my Elegant Swivel and Sashay Die Set post.  When I design these dies, I pack the features in so that you can use them in your every day crafting.  Today instead of creating a twist and pop interactive card, I’m showing you that you can make an everyday card with the contents of the kit!

For my card, I cut the scalloped panel twice to make a hinged card base and it’s absolutely delightful with those mini scallops.  I layered up a panel with sunburst but turned it on the side for a bit of flair.  I have to say that this card is much smaller than what I normally make but I’m loving that size.  Honestly, I think that A2 and A7 cardmakers will find enough to love.  And then the tall basket.  I can whip these up in minutes and they are always a nice sidekick for a card.  I cut the scalloped panel in half and used that panel to embellish each side of the tall basket.

This was a lickety quick make for me today because sometimes that’s how it really is.  Someone’s on the way and you need to get a lift gift ready.  Know what I mean?
