Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders Label and Accent along with Spellbinders Floral Assortment - www.amazingpapergrace.com
Good morning sweet friends, I have a new card to share this morning – Day 23 of the 30 Days of Giving.  A little bit of a different look for me with the bronze and cream.  The card size of 5-1/2″ x 6-1/2.  I set up a background panel using Spellbinders Framed Canvas.  On top I layered Spellbinders Floral Assortment and included the ‘hello’ from Spellbinders Sentiments 5.  I pulled two little elements from two new Sapphire Dies (teeny labels four shape and leafed flourish) – this one is called Label and Accent and it’s going to be available at www.Joanns.com.

I don’t keep a pacific journal. but do have notes on different studies I have taken. It is amazing how hand writing has changed, goes along with life’s situations in your life, and even age. I can see different emotions within the writings, and I am certainly not an expert….have a good day.ReplyCancel

Such a beautiful card and die. Thanks for sharing. I REALLY wish I kept a journal starting with the first day of marriage. My husband is always telling me I never ever cut the grass in the past and I never did such and such. If I kept a journal then I could show him in black and white that I did for many years. There were also some important things that I always thought I would remember every detail but can’t remember now. I wish I kept a journal of the things my mother and father told me about when they were young and about their family. Now there is no one on either side to gather this information. I am so sorry I didn’t do a journal.ReplyCancel

  • christiJuly 23, 2015 - 11:48 am

I have never kept a journal and don’t know if I ever will. back a zillion years ago, when I was a teen I had a diary. I was probably 12 or 13 when I first got it and I wrote things in it for a little while. that’s 2 days maybe three then for the next few days I wrote same thing … then maybe onece a month for a couple of months then I didn’t write anything in it for at least 4 years. I was going to get a new one but that one had only a few pages used and it was a different time of year. I thought for sure i’ll keep up with it … well reality is I did just about the same as the first time. I think when I finished college and was moving out I found it and read it and laughed at what I had written and how studious I had been in keeping up with it. at that point I threw it away. that may be the only thing I actually threw away with out nagging. I learned from that that I probably wouldn’t write in one again. so far so good after 35-40 yrs I haven’t started one. I pondered writing a book but that would turn into a short story as I would bore myself!

beautiful card today and those colors are awesome.ReplyCancel

  • Barbara WilsonJuly 23, 2015 - 11:49 am

I do not keep a journal. My Grandmother kept a dairy all of her life and her wish was that they would be destroyed when she died. My Uncle’s wife read through them. So if you want your thoughts private better keep them to yourself.ReplyCancel

Now for your question, I hate to tell you this – I hate reading anything I wrote in the past! I no longer journal at all! I have gobs of letters and journals from when I lived overseas and have, in fact, made plans to burn it all up this summer as soon as the burn ban is lifted out here!ReplyCancel

wow…really liking the bronze and cream…and the new dies…checking my wallet…sigh, nope, not yet! lOL. Nice card, Becca, Like this one…sends all kinds of ideas spinning off in my head! Thanks!
I don’t keep a journal much any more…indonhave the ones I used to keep, though. one thing I do notice as I (very occasionally) read back what I have written before…is how present I can feel back in the moment when I do read those kinds of things. A few months ago I was going thigh some old files and found some decades old things I had written when I made the decision to start seeking to adopt a child. I was a young pastor, single, but I knew I wanted a child…and so I started a file “Dear Daughter”. Little did I expect then I would be blessed with a son as well, and it took nearly 18 years to come to fruition, but I am so glad I have those letters now. I think I am going to pull them together, re-write them on vellum and create a book for her for Christmas. At the present, she is 18 and has been unsafe for herself and for us to live at home for over three years. Giving thanks for her, passing the written word along….
    Thanks again Becca….JoniReplyCancel

This card is beautiful. It actually looks like leather and lace. I kept a journal for almost a half of a year. I started it January 1, 2000. Y2K, remember that? Hah! Something bad happened in one of the months and the joy of journaling was lost for the remainder of the year. But, what was there seemed to be full of family and food. Birthdays, wedding anniversaries, all kinds of celebrations. I described what we had at every meal. Back then a meal wasn’t served unless it had homemade biscuits or cornbread. We are an eating family when we get together. It was fun to remember.ReplyCancel

I´m blown away once again with the beauty in your gorgeous work here Becca. Such an awesome card, and as always just pure beauty.
Yes I have actually quite often read back through old journals, and also enjoyed it a lot, but not exactly my own handwriting, as I feel, it´s got worser over the years, where we don´t use handwriting much anymore. And today it´s a big problem, because I´m of the old school, where we use the old handwriting, and none of my grandkids can, and even my kids have problems reading this kind of writing, so when I writwe to them, I most times writ it on the computer and print it out then, but I think, it´s a biiig pitty, that the handwriting this way get lost, because of this, cause nothing can compare to a handwritten note. I don´t write journals anymore, only if it´s some of these funny expiriences with the grandkids, that I´ll love to remember later on in life, then I have a journalingbook, that I write those episodes down in, but else not, I´m afraid.ReplyCancel

I’ve kept a journal throughout all the years we’ve been married. It started out as a daily memo for all expenditures then I began adding notes of the daily happenings. Now it’s mostly for logging any craft purchases which especially helps when I need to do a price check on a craft item or two. Reading through these books causes moments of reflection of that day, the thoughts I was thinking or planning and I can remember exactly what was going on and why. It seems almost like yesterday.ReplyCancel

Hah! I have a journal I received maaaaannnnnyyyy years ago. It has one entry in it! I never even kept a diary in high school. What I used to do was scrapbooking in high school.
I found several books I had made in HS when we went to sell our home in IL. We had lived in that home for 32 years, purchased it brand new when our boys were very young. We were totally downsizing, & happened to sell our home in 4 days! The buyers wanted a quick closing, so we purged, purged, purged! Was unable to keep many things at that time in such a short time frame. Managed to keep a few pages from those scrapbooks before I got rid of them.
It was so interesting so look through those books! First of all, I didn’t remember making them. Secondly, I can’t believe how thorough I was in their design. (Think obsessive in this spot, lol) Yes, my taste has changed, and so have the tools & products available. But for a young person, they weren’t half bad! I do wish I could have saved more things in that move, but maybe it was for the best.ReplyCancel

  • ANN ROBBINSJuly 23, 2015 - 2:51 pm

    Becca,
No journal but look at different papers, etc. to see that really my handwriting hasn’t changed much. My mother was a stickler for penmanship and guess I couldn’t get away with much with her, so have always tried to maintain (Palmer method) perfect penmanship. It also helps sometimes when cardmaking at least with the signature if not used anywhere else on the card.
Yes, this is definitely a “little different” but you can still see the “Becca” style there, with the layers, frills and bow! Love the copper accent!

Yes! For years (since about the age of 15) I kept a spiritual journal recording my journey of faith. But, not long after my dear mom passed away I began to slack off on writing in it. Then I started homeschooling my 3 kids (2009) and have not written in it since! Time is an absolute luxury commodity in this season of my life. But I have on odd occasions read back through those pages and have seen the benefit of recording thoughts and prayers and experiences. I really must try and find time somewhere to jot down a few things. To think there’s a whole season of my life left unrecorded now! Another beautiful card with some really pretty new dies.ReplyCancel

    Hello Becca,
Your card today is really beautiful.
I used to keep a journal religiously, but in later years it’s more quick notes for each day. It’s funny but I was hunting for something last week and found a journal I’d kept when I was 14 and in a Sanatorium for a year. I read it and you know what, the memories flooded back and I was transported back. That was nearly 60 years ago!!!

Lovely card. Great sentiment and flourish. I like the elongated look of the sentiment. It draws the eye.
I’m keeping a weight journal at the moment. Other than that, I have never kept a diary or journal as a young girl. Since my mother’s passing 2 years ago, the family has been cleaning the attic and we have found our grade school notebooks that my mother kept. My book was from the first grade;it was cursive writing. The letters are huge. Thanks for the memory.ReplyCancel

  • Cyndy WJuly 23, 2015 - 4:14 pm

Yes, I keep journals. One for private thoughts, one for craft ideas yet to be made, and one for folks that I have made cards/projects for along with pictures etc to jog my memory. Couldn’t live without them personally. Something I have learned–positive thoughts make for much better reading later on so I save those thoughts and discard any negative ones I might write. Becca, this card is so striking–love the contrast and I’m gonna case this one for my sister’s birthday coming up! Thanks for the inspiration! :)ReplyCancel

Yes, I have read over some past journals and reading what was going on during that time in my life. Reading my high school journal was very funny to see how I was at that period in my life. No, I do not keep a journal now. Another beautiful card, Becca.ReplyCancel

Oh my goodness! I just totally love the card you made! It’s awesome!! I’ve never kept a journal. This year, back in January, I did start writing in a journal things I’m thankful for. I had the intention of daily, then it went to weekly, then….well you get the picture–LOL! I do still write in it occasionally. I think in time it will be interesting to go back and read what i’ve written. I’m sure enjoying your questions! :)ReplyCancel

I don’t journal, but I have started a notebook where I write all the quotes, sayings, and words that I have scribbled on bits and pieces of paper, thinking they would work well on cards. And I keep finding those bits and pieces of paper everywhere! The handwriting has definitely changed. I hope my daughters will one day enjoy reading thru it later in life.ReplyCancel

I have not kept a journal for many years, not since I was a little girl. I am not sure where they are, but I think it would be fun to read them. Every once in awhile, my mother finds something from my childhood, a card or a drawing, and it is always fun to try and figure out what I was thinking at the time they were created.ReplyCancel

Good afternoon Becca – Your new card is so sweet and lovely! I’m excited about the new Sapphire dies and happy to see an example created by you.
I haven’t kept a journal in the past but I am currently keeping one. I started this journal after my fall in early January of this year. This has been such a terrible accident but I’ve learned so much from it that I’ve wanted to be sure I didn’t forget this life adjusting event. At first, I was in such terrible pain that it was difficult to focus on anything but so many things were happening and I was experiencing so many emotions that i wanted to remember them. While I would never want to go through this again, I have learned a great deal about myself and my faith. I have serious potential health complications as a result of this accident so I’m especially thankful that I will be able to look back through my journal to remind myself of this journey and help me remember how much I have accomplished.
    Blessings to you.ReplyCancel

  • RonnyJuly 23, 2015 - 6:06 pm

I have done that, but not very much because I can’t seem to keep a journal for very long. I used to when a teenager and still have that(diary) somewhere, but it is so silly to read now about all the drama of boyfriends. Wouldn’t want my kids to read it! Another bit of journal I have was about the time my youngest was getting ready to leave home and be married. So interesting to read these things back after many years, don’t know why I can’t seem to be consistent at it.ReplyCancel

No, I have never felt the joy of reading back through my own journal and seeing my own handwriting over the years. Sometimes the past needs to be left in the past.ReplyCancel

Hi Becca no I don’t keep a journal since I had to journal my daily goings on
during a nasty divorce and separation for the courts and police.
It was a bad case of domestic violence and strangely yesterday I came across
the paper work started to read it and forgot how bad it really was .
That’s because I have a good marriage now to a good man and have moved on!!!
scrapbooking is my way to journal now .
Your blog is such a good space and to read the other ladies notes is so uplifting
    and quite comical at times.

When I was a kid, I had a diary, but just about anything from my childhood is long gone. That’s by choice, as my childhood was not very happy. As far as journaling today, I had a Caring Bridge site for my late husband, and I have a blog, but of course those aren’t written by hand. I do know that my handwriting has deteriorated over the years, at least when I write for any length of time since my hand and arm fatigue quickly. Computers are much easier!ReplyCancel

No I do not keep a journal – probably because I do not like my own hand writing. I wish that I had though, as I think it is really a cool idea to keep for others to read when you are gone. My husbands grandmother kept one with entries only on the holidays and special occasions for over 20 yrs and it was so interesting to read. It is a cherished item in our house.ReplyCancel

Wow!!! This card took my breath away! Whatn incredible card!
I kept a diary many years go and have found it bittersweet at times. I have a kept a craft journal at all, or a life journal for years. I do you keep a journal on Sunday morning of notes at church. those are sometimes interesting to go back and read what was being preached, but also my own comments about my own life and my walk. It’s also proved helpful when we need a date of things that happened for the church! And you’re right back up, my handwriting has changed and morphed and changed back over the years.ReplyCancel

Squeal, Day 22!!  Wow :-)  Can I tell you this is doing me so much good.  Some of these cards were sitting in my stash forgotten and as I pull them out, I remember making each and every one.  Not only that – some days when I sit to the craft table my mind goes blank – what am I going to do new?  Well pulling these cards out, it makes remember little things I’ve done in the past, and I think hmmm, I’ll have to try that again :-)

If you’re new to the blog, welcome to my 30 Days of Giving – every day during the month of July I’m giving away a handmade card – you can read all the specifics HERE.  You can check to see if you’ve won a card by searching for your name on the Giveaway Winners page.  You get there by the menu at the top of the page – put your cursor on Features then look down the list and select Giveaway Winners.

For today’s comment –  I’m grateful for you, this community, and that we let and make each other feel so fabulous.  What’s making you happy today?

The card that’s being given away today is shown above.  Just a note – this is a card that has been shown before and there is a possibility that some of the supplies that were used are currently discontinued, no doubt there will be something you can substitute – have a look through my galleries for alternative ideas.  Many things can still be found on the open market, just google and you’ll find that many retailers are still selling.

    Hi Becca another beautiful card.
You ask what makes me happy? It’s the sparkle and wonderment in my grandchiildren’s eyes, their love and laughter, it’s the “Hi mum” when my boys come home, the kliss when they leave, its the unexpected little things my husband does too surprise me, that’s what makes me happy.ReplyCancel

Many things make me happy but, the most cherished one is to be fortunate to have all of my 5 amazing, healthy grandchildren near me, and I mean NEAR ME!!! 2 of them just next door, the other 3 just about 15-20 min. away. My dear husband of 42 years with whom I have so much fun, my daughters and sons in law and, last but not least, my extended family and dear Triathlon and stamping friends. All of this, combine, make me so darn happy and grateful, every day.ReplyCancel

What an elegant card today! Thank you for inspiring all of us with your many beautiful cards. What makes me happy? I have truly been blessed. God has given me a second chance to make a difference as I remain cancer free for 5 years now. I try my best to be positive and make a difference in other peoples lives. I do my best to have a smile on my face at all times. During my “darkest days” my husband, sons, daughter-in-law and other family members were by my side every step of the way. My faith kept me strong as I avoided the “valley of death”. God was my rod, he stilled the waters, and he restored my soul. I would never wish anyone to have cancer, but it sure puts things in perceptive of what is truly important! I am truly blessed in so many ways. I have a beautiful 3 yr old grandson who just came up and gave me a kiss, hug and said I love you LaLa, (that’s what he calls me rather than Nana or grandma-he chose the name). How can one not be happy when you get unconditional love from your grandchildren?ReplyCancel

Beautiful card as always. I just washed my hands in clean water. I’m thankful that we have clean water everyday. When I think of other countries that bathe, drink, wash clothes and let their livestock stand in, drink and use the bathroom in because they have no other choice it makes me feel grateful yet sad and wishing that more could be done. Seems like there’s alway money for war. When I think about the money spent on campaigns……….ugh. Sorry about the soap box.ReplyCancel

Becca – Another beautiful creation today. I can’t believe all of the wonderful cards you have shared during this month. What’s making me happy today is that I’m going to make a double batch of Blue Sunshine Jam. Two things are making me happy today… First, I got your card yesterday and have placed it on my Wall of Fame right next to another one of yours I have. I’m afraid these cards will only see the light in my eyes; I couldn’t give them away. Secondly, I got to Skype with a young friend of mine who has moved to Germany. She has been gone for two months; I missed her so much but I couldn’t master the technology involved so she called me and helped me set it up on my computer. Heaven help me when the bill comes but so worth it! Long (free) chat and got to be shown around her new home. This is a time I can really appreciate the technology we have today… being with a friend who is so far away and being a part of the crafty world at large right from my desk! All good..!ReplyCancel

While the picture is opening up I am excited for what I am going to see, what dies I will need to buy, and what other things I will need to maybe recreate the card I am about to receive. It is a great feeling getting your emails and they make my day. Thanks Becca for the love you share.ReplyCancel

The sweet people in my life have made today special. My precious son spent the morning helping his grandfather with work that is a little too heavy for Papa to do alone; my dear mother-in-law made it a point to say she is praying for me, a longtime friend called to ask if she could help me prepare my classroom for the upcoming school year, and I received a kind note in the mail. I am truly blessed and thank God for His goodness.ReplyCancel

    Such elegance, Becca.
Tricky question to answer today as I tripped in the car park of the local Hobbycraft (UK) store and have broken the head of my right humerus bone both horizontally and vertically and cannot move my arm. The pain is excruciating but I must give thanks for modern painkillers as I cannot imagine what it would be like without nor how people without access to modern prescriptions cope with illness and injuries.
My dear husband, sister-in-law and friends have shown me how blessed I am :o)

    Hello Becca,
Your cards are all so beautiful. To have a talent like yours is a gift from God.
We took my recently widowed sister in law out today. Her daughter, my daughter and granddaughters and me went to a local farm. We laughed and reminisced, drank plenty coffee and had a lovely lunch, and her spirits were lifted. That made us all happy.

Hello Becca! This card is stunningly beautiful! I love the gold foil. This is pure elegance.
I am happy today to be a child of God. Everything else in my life is second to that and good or bad, I know God is always in control. The last two years have been incredibly hard in too many ways. Two years ago July 29, I lost my Dad. I miss him so but helping my Mom and having one health issue after another have kept me from being able to really grieve. What keeps me moving forward in spite of everything is knowing how much God loves me and being thankful for the blessings in my life. As the anniversary of my Dad’s passing approaches, I am so thankful I was blessed to be his daughter. God makes me happy. Today and every day.ReplyCancel

What is making me so elated today is: –>The fact I just saved various colored Bearded Irises from the trash dumpster and I have a new flower bed and additions to the small garden around the tree by my apartment that I took over from a previous neighbor who moved out of the complex that I have been tended to for the past three years in short painful spurts. You see I suffer from Ankylosing Spondylitis, Fibromyalgia, A Bone tumor in my Left hip, a tear in my right hip and a cyst pushing on my spine. i can honestly say I ma in too much pain at the moment but I have made forward progress and I feel so good in my soul. The pain I am feeling today is so worth it to me because I just spruced up my apartment for others to enjoy as well as my hubby and myself and the other little garden as well.

I have saved Bees and Butterflies with these additions today :o)

Well, for the past two days I have been digging, getting dirty and LOVIN’ it y’all!!! I got them all for free except for the English Lavender I bought two years ago myself and planted.

So Becca, for you to choose this card for today is awesome! I love the flowers on it and the cute little bow :o)ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca,
I awoke to find a message from my niece. She missed my other niece’s wedding shower this past weekend. When she was looking at pictures, she spotted my centerpiece that I had made from paper flowers in a crystal compote dish. She said those were gorgeous, to which her mom replied that they were my paper flowers. She said they were amazing and I should post them. We talked about does anyone really appreciate handmade items, so I now know they were noticed. Of course, my niece, an artiste herself, is a sweetheart:-)

wow…really liking the bronze and cream…and the new dies…checking my wallet…sigh, nope, not yet!

Drove my 48 year old daughter & two of her friends north to half way between LaPorte City & Vinton Iowa (about 40 miles away) where I left them at the side of the road with their bicycles so they could join up with thousands of other cyclists participating in RAGBRAI (Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa)! Today is day 5 and they will end up this evening in Hiawatha – a nice community next to ours (Cedar Rapids). The weather today is about 79-80 degrees with low humidity. Very mild an Iowa July day. The corn & soy beans are doing well this year so everything is green & lush looking as well as many of the beautiful farms & homes on our morning trip. LGBF-3660-2012
Happy Monday morning friends! I hope you had a stellar weekend.  Today’s post is short and sweet –  it’s so hard to believe that we’re already to Day 20.  The card for giveaway today is from my stash and I remember making it as if it were yesterday.   Thank you so much for indulging me in this cause that I know we all share together.   I say we get as much joy at giving a card as we do when receiving because the making is such a wonderful experience.  Craft on!!

For today’s comment –  since hand made occasions can be often for people who  know many people or make many gifts and cards – how many hours a week do you spend creating?

The card that’s being given away today is shown above.  Just a note – this is a card that has been shown before and there is a possibility that some of the supplies that were used are currently discontinued, no doubt there will be something you can substitute – have a look through my galleries for alternative ideas.  Many things can still be found on the open market, just google and you’ll find that many retailers are still selling.

Hi Becca, Such a beautiful card. It’s a classic and is worth repeating. I average 6 hours a week in my studio–sometimes longer when family birthdays cluster in a month or during Christmas. Loved this card when you first had it on your website. I would love to spend every day in my craft studio but life gets in the way. It depends on the week. I am trying to get in there at least once a week for a full day and then bits and pieces on the other days. Just not enough time to do everything I want. I am a very slow crafter as I love to take my time and just get lost in what I am doing. It is a great stress reliever. Thanks for sharing this beauty again and have a wonderful day.ReplyCancel

    Becca,
I do not spend nearly enough hours crafting in a week! Counting both knitting and paper crafts, I’m lucky if I get 5 hours or so. I do try to knit a little every day, even if just a row or two. I find it relaxing. It takes a bit more effort for me to set aside card making time. I don’t like to start unless I have at least an hour to devote to it.

This is such a beautiful card, as are all of your creations. Thanks for sharing.ReplyCancel

    • Sandi SmithJuly 20, 2015 - 8:45 pm

Hi Edna – I read your comment and saw you were having difficulty finding the die used on Becca’s beautiful card today. It’s called Filigree Corners. I don’t have the number but I found it on eBay. Initially I just did a search under “Becca Freeken dies” That led me to the dies b on eBay. I believe this die set was originally sold through JustRite Stamps so it didn’t have a typical Spellbinders number. I could be incorrect about that but if you find it from JustRie, you won’t be able to purchase it from them. They, unfortunately, recently went out of business. I hope this helps you out and you enjoy the die as much as I do mine.
      Happy Crafting!
      Blessings, Sandi SmithReplyCancel

      • Sandi SmithJuly 22, 2015 - 5:29 am

Hello – I owe you an apology, Edna, for giving the wrong name of the die used on this card. It is actually Spellbinders Gold Elements One #S5-183. What’s kind of funny is that Becca is listing the name of the dies under her posts and I forgot that. I hope you didn’t spend a lot of time trying to find it using my first die name. My only excuse for potentially sending you on a wild goose chase is that I’m trying to get off some nerve pain medication that makes me a bit loopy. My problem is that my nerve pain doesn’t want me off the medication. lol! *sigh* I really should get some sleep. That’s difficult with pain but it doesn’t help with brain fog. I truly hope you find the die. It’s on lots of websites so easy to find. Blessings, Sandi Smith

  • Kristine VencelJuly 20, 2015 - 10:47 am

How any hours per week do I craft? Well, that depends on the week.
First of all, I am retired, so an outside job no longer interferes. I have an ill hubby at home, so that does interfere. He is getting better, so that is good. I like to exercise so I don’t turn into a puddle. {smile} That takes time. Some weeks I go places with my friends. On average, I probably spend 30-35 hours in my craft room. Wow – another stunner!
I’m not sure how many hours I spend crafting….. My dear husband would answer ‘lots!’
It varies from day to day and week to week, depending on other calls on my time. I have to come up with a project each week for the craft group and that can take many hours in the planning and execution as I need to cater for all levels of ability. It can be rather challenging at times and often I need to prepare packs with die cuts ready for assembly. Die-cutting in advance for them can take a fair amount of time – or rather the removal of all the tiny pieces from intricate dies ready for the next cut! It’s a labour of love :o)

As an example, I am making a Birthday book at the moment for a 50 year old man (always more difficult than women!!) and I’ve already been at it for over a week and only just over half way through! The most difficult part is now behind me, having chosen all the photographs so I keep plodding on in between other things that need to be done – cooking, cleaning, ironing, shopping……..!!

As I don’t sell my cards they are only made as required for family and friend’s birthdays, anniversaries and new babies etc. Also I don’t have a dedicated ‘crafting space’ so I need to ‘set up’ for each occasion. I always spend at least 3 hours a week and sometimes more; that is because we have a 3 hr. get together on Tuesday night from 6:30 to 9:30, then if I don’t finish whatever I am working on and it might need to go in the mail, I spend whatever time I need to get it ready. Wish it could be 3 hours a day, maybe someday.

  • Joni DtonekingJuly 20, 2015 - 1:00 pm

    Good Monday, Becca!
When I am in my busy times, I hope I am spending a ration of 1:1creating to drafting…if I spend 8 hours creating a card concept, then I hope I have 8 hours to craft cards, more or less. Usually it is more like 1:2 create to craft depending on the project.

If I am doing a one of a kind, of a special order, those ratios go out the window. And some of that depends on my inspiration time…if I am rushed, I may well have more “dogs” than wins in the process, which increases my recycle and up cycle baskets, and decreases by finished product.!

Love this color combo today..reminds me of wedgewood, which reminds me of my maternal grandmother.

Some weeks I may not do any crafting at all. It all depends on how I feel, and if I have a specific project going on. If there’s something pressing, I’ll be crafting every day till it’s done, which could take weeks, and then I’ll take a break for awhile.ReplyCancel

Time spent in my ‘woman cave’ averages about 12 hrs a week. With my active schedule of spending time with my husband (retired too) and my activities, I like to do my handiwork late at night after all’s settled down. I like the solitude and quiet to fuss about the designs and prep all the embellishments and dies for the next card project. It’s a wonderful way to end my day.ReplyCancel

    Dear Becca,
Time is of the essence! Life is racing, and there is never enough time in the day to “create” as much as I would like! Some weeks fly by and “0” is done in my arts. But then I can take two to three days out of another given week, and knock out a goodly supply. Just depends on what God has in store for me… How many hours do you set aside? This is a very “telling” question, actually. Do you have a schedule or pattern with which you are able to master you time table? I’ve purposed in my heart to make time to master your bows. I do dearly love your bows!ReplyCancel

I typically spend every waking hour creating one gift or another even though I do not know many people. I give my gifts to anyone I see who can use a pick me up and often times have been neighbors, strangers I do not even know just because I love to put a smile on someone face like I pray often times someone would do for me but rarely even happens. There is often more joy in the giving than the receiving :o). Giving is a two-fold Blessing!ReplyCancel

How many hours do I spend crafting.
Way to much time. I am my husbands carer he is blind. So I don’t work. So I am lucky enough to have all the hours in the day to fill. So I sew, needlework or make things from paper. I consider myself a fabric and paper artist. Or as my 93 yr old mom would say a fiddle faddler. Always doing something with my hands.

Beautiful card. I have made cards similar to this one for birthdays, anniversary, and changed the sentiment for sympathy. I always get compliments with this card.

It depends on the number of birthdays, anniversaries, sympathy cards needed for any given week. The month of August, I will get to spend a lot of time in my craft room. I recently attend the Great Rubber Stamp Event in Collinsville, IL (St. Louis area) and purchased a lot of goodies that I haven’t had a chance to play with. The new dies and stamps will be “played with” during the next two weeks. Purchased my Christmas stamp and dies and will get started on them right away. I have a new granddaughter arriving the first of December so I need to make my cards and make a baby quilt and afghan by the first of November.ReplyCancel

I am so in awe of your ability to create so many different designs from your Spellbinders dies. I have this die, which I know is one you created. The cool crisp blue and white colors give the card an elegant summer feel. I just love it!
As I’ve mentioned before, I’m unable to craft due to complications of injuries from a bad fall. So, I’m going back to the time when I was last able to craft. I am retired so I am able to spend a lot of time crating. I’m the type of crafter who will stay up all night to finish a layout or project. I think my time crafting would vary depending on time spent with my husband or grandchildren. I also have other health issues which interfere with my creative time but I would average between 20–40 hours a week.
I’m really enjoying this month Becca. You are so generous in sharing your cards and I love the conversation that is going on with the various questions you’ve raised. I’m really enjoying reading everyone’s responses. Thank you!ReplyCancel

Such an “over the top” elegant card Becca. Love those corner dies! I don’t have a set amount of time that I craft and/or make cards. I have a girlfriend that comes over most every Tuesday from 9-3 and we make cards together, and then depending on my upcoming birthday/anniversary, etc. list and may spend another day or two in my woman cave stamping. No week is the same. If I see a card on-line that really inspires me, off the computer I go and back to creating.ReplyCancel

Morning Becca, I remember this fabulous card, truly beautiful.
I spend more time creating in the Winter months, during the Summer months I have lots of gardening to do, so the cardmaking is relegated to family Birthdays in the summer. I’ve just given my eldest Granddaughter her 30th birthday card (yesterday, 20th), it took me 3 days on and off to make it. On the 30th is my youngest Granddaughter’s 18th, so I’m now on with that on and off.
    Enjoy your day.

Great card, Becca! I have this die and, after so many years of following you, I have just become convinced that I need a whole lot more sentiment stamps. Sometimes it takes me awhile to catch on… To your question: I spend at least 8 hours (4 one day and 4 the next) creating and making kits for my class. Between that and actually teaching the class, as well as participating and creating for my miniatures crafting (Oh, and reviewing my email subscriptions for new ideas and new products along with the accompanying tutorials), I don’t get near enough time for my personal crafting. I keep trying to let go of less important things… housework, cooking, laundry, etc. but old habits die hard. The frustration is getting to me because the craft room calls so insistently and loudly!!ReplyCancel

I don’t get to spend as much as I would like since I work full time but I would say 5-10hrs a week. :)ReplyCancel

Some weeks I only spend a few hours creating but other weeks I spend up to 60 or 70 hours or more!! Depends on how my body is feeling and what is going on in life!! I make sure that I send at least a few cards every week for no specific reason other than to brighten someone’s day!
Love today’s beautiful card! Thanks for the chance to win it!ReplyCancel

I love to collect paper, it seems I save some papers so long ,you know for that special card, that I never use them. I can’t bear to use some paper it’s just that their so pretty to look at. So I am always out buying more to use.ReplyCancel

Typically at least 4 hours a week. Three hours to make a mess and one hour of inspired cardmaking.ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca,

Gorgeous card. I spend around 5 hours plus a week on crafting, sometimes I do not get chance of an evening after work so I have to wait until the weekends.

    Love & Hugs
