Sweet blog friends, what a wonderful conversation we had about lighting. More people use a light tent than I thought, but many of you are veterans of natural lighting. I think it doesn’t matter as long as you get the good picture :-) At home my light tent is set up in a closet in my sewing room – all I have to do turn around from my table, open the door, snap some shots and I’m off. But, I’m going to scout for a place where I can get some natural shots too. So on to my cards for today . . . when I saw the 2013 Valentines Day Stamp Set from Quietfire Designs, I absolutely swooned – they are timeless and will be in style today as well as years from now. It was a treat to sit down and play with them because valentines cards are an open invitation to use lace, silk, frills, flowers and pearls to glam a card up, right? The first uses one of my very favorite sentiments, I have this in another long wide stamp and this one is short and tight. In fact, this one fits perfectly into a variety of Spellbinders, so here’s what I did.
I used one of the new embossing folder called Spellbinders ™ Framed Petite Labels. To give it a little bit of color I swiped my pink ink pad across the raised dots then used a dauber to highlight some of the other details. This sweet vertical piece I used comes from the new Spellbinders ™ Ornate Squares and I turned it up on end just to create some detail. To stack on top of that I took the center piece from Spellbinders™ Twisted Metal Tags and Accents and stamped my sentiment.
I picked up a little $1.00 frame from AC Moore and decided to create a little gift. To get started, I simply glued design paper to the opening. So that it wasn’t just a plain frame, I created an insert the size of the inside of the frame and edged all four sides with Spellbinders™ On The Edge (love that petite scallop). The petite flowers are from Spellbinders™ Bitty Blossoms and the swirly foliage is from Spellbinders™ Foliage Two. I cut out two hearts from this fabulous Webster Pages paper and speared them on my pearl pins.

Have a great weekend friends, see you soon!
Sweet blog friends, happy new week!! I haven’t had a chance to make a card for a couple of days; I’m on the road taking care of some family business so I don’t have all of the craft room conveniences, as you can tell from my natural daylight pictures (phew, that was a learning curve at dawn). I finished off a card I started at home and wanted to share ;-). Are your eyes still twinkling after seeing the peeks and reveal of all the new Spellbinders?? Well, me too!! Today I have a layered and jeweled card to show. It’s made using Spellbinders ™ Elegant Labels Four. It fit like a glove with two of the new CHA sets from JustRite Papercrafts; I used the Garden Gate Background which I stamped on the uppermost layer before die cutting. Then I also used Buntings and Banners for the tags.
My sentiment is cut using Spellbinders™ Fancy Framed Tags Two. The tiny tag is just the cutest ever – it’s Spellbinders™Charmed I’m Sure. I love the flexibility of this type of card, I can easily switch out my tiny little tag to direct this to another endeared family member or friend!
Because the card is so see through I decided to add design paper to the inside so that it peeks out a tad when the card is closed – just enough to make you curious :-)
Sending sweet blessings!!
Greetings blog friends, I truly hope you are having a wonderful week!! Today I took time to make a card for my sweet daughter who is going through a challenging time. Ever the optimist, for the first time I see her in a different light as she struggles to get on top of some of the obstacles that life often places in front of us. She one of the most level headed, tell-it-like-it-is, cut-and-dry people that I know, but we all know how easy it is give advice to others than it is to look inward and know what to do with our own dilemmas. Even with grown kids I feel like the mom running after the youngster on their first attempt without the training wheels. I guess that never stops. I’m good to stand back and not look alarmed; it makes me feel like I’m doing something supportive to send her a card with some subtle reminders :-)
So you know that lately I’ve been gushing about digital papers; this one came to me just in the nick of time. I found a new site (OScraps) that I simply love and this Serenity Paper was one of the projects – I know I’ll use this a lot!! I printed it out but changed the colors of the filled in “o’s” so that they are all the same color. The Gingham Paper also comes from the same site. I know that some of you don’t like digital, but my craft budget this year calls for drastic measures, lol. Starting with a 6″ x 6″ base I layered on the gingham paper followed by a layer with the serenity paper cut with Spellbinders™ Grand Squares (5″). Once I know that I have one square layer, it’s a cinch on my paper cutter to glue then trim while keeping things neat and tidy. I cut the new Spellbinders™ Just Swingin’ die template – it’s so whimsical it makes me smile! I wanted to keep the cutout white, so I edged the die with my ink so that it would stand out a little bit from the background. I tied a vertically oriented bow then added a sweet little tag from Spellbinders™ Back to Basics Tags and stamped one of the impactful words from Words of Faith.
I’m sending this to her at work in hopes it will live on her desk and give her the gentle reminder that she can’t control the world and others and that things will be all right if she surrenders what she can’t change. Hmmmm, what was that I said about easy to give advice? I think I’ll take some too :-)
Be well!! See you soon!!
