Greetings Blog Friends!!  What a busy day it has been.  You’ll find this hard to believe but I can count the number of masculine cards I’ve made in the last couple of years on two hands. I guess the planets have aligned because I’m back with another masculine card.  Yikes!  They are the tough ones because I can’t simply slather pearls and lace on them but for those of you who thanked me for the brief break from pink – this is for you!  Waltzingmouse Stamps welcomes a new release and this set is called My Island.  I love the sentiment You Bring Me Sunshine – it’s so very true!

The rays of sunshine are framed in Spellbinders™ Card Creator S5-136 A2 Fancy Weave.  I simply tucked it under my burlap ribbon and embellished the bottom with pearls.  To corral my ribbon I used Spellbinders™ S5-138 Octagon Strips and Accents and simply wove the loose ends of my bow up and down through the available openings.  I finished off with a masculine embellishment at the bottom – not a flower, but a piece from Spellbinders™ Ribbon Buckles.  That’s it short and sweet – this goes in the pile for when some occasion calls for a guy card!

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps:  Waltzingmouse Stamps – My Island (Available July 1)
Paper: K&Company, American Crafts, Recollections Kraft
Ink: Wild Honey Distress Ink, Memento Rich Cocoa
Accessories:  Spellbinders™ Card Creator S5-136 A2 Fancy Weave (new), Spellbinders™ S5-138 Octagon Strips and Accents (new), Spellbinders™ Ribbon Buckles, Recollections Pearls, Satin Ribbon, Burlap Ribbon

(New Spellbinders die templates ship in August)

A really beautiful card, that any male would be proud to recieve, that´s for sure, so why you don´t so more, is a riddle to me??? You could do loads of this kind and make them look just as gorgeous I´m sure.
    Have a wonderful week-end ahead.ReplyCancel

Becca, this is stunning. Totally agree with you re male cards. I use loads of bling too, so I find masculine cards extremely difficult!ReplyCancel

  • kathy/NorthCarolinaJune 30, 2012 - 6:08 am

Becca, I really like this card, especially the burlap ribbon. Perfect for a guy. I can’t help but wonder what it would look like without the bow. I think, for a guy, it might work even better without it. Everything is so perfectly paired: paper, burlap, stamps, etc. You really are an artist!ReplyCancel

  • ANN ROBBINSJune 30, 2012 - 6:19 am

The burlap sure makes the masculine feature. This can definitely be a problem thinking of things for a male card. My man is into old cars so I use stamps I have for him. His birthday is in July so I may use the burlap effect ~ think he would like that. Thanks for sharing and love 2 cards in one day. You hhave been busy, girlie. Bless you and your talented hands!

  • Charlotte ZweigoronJune 30, 2012 - 2:30 pm

I have seen a lot of talk lately about the difficulty of man-cards. I agree, it is a stretch… but once I get into it, it opens a whole new door… and, I love to peek into new corners and see what I can do! Probably the hardest part is that men don’t tend to gush over our efforts the way our lady friends do… it goes with the territory, I suppose. I do notice that my husband keeps every single card I make for him and seems protective of them. That’s gotta be a good thing in a man’s world. My grandsons are most impressed and expressive when I make them a card with something they think is only part of their world, like Steam Punk or Grunge. Grandma does Steam Punk?! That’s impressive!!ReplyCancel

Greetings blog friends!  First of all let me tell you there are some winners to report here!! You’ll remember at the beginning of the month I was interviewed by an on-line papercrafting magazine called Scrap’n Art. They graciously extended free 30 day subscriptions to Amazing Paper Grace readers so they could get in and see the article as well as the breadth of valuable content they offer on a monthly basis.  Well, there was a promise of 10 free one year subscriptions and they’ve given me the names of the winners.   All the necessary changes have been made to extend subscriptions, the winners don’t need to do anything except enjoy.  The winners are:

-Irene Bazell
-Kathy Clement
-Joanne Garland
-Yvonne Gebauer
-Nan Gustafson
-Lorrayne Ingram
-Robyn Josephs
-Glenda Kerr
-Kelly Neis
-Lisa Sackett

I have a card to share today using a fabulous sentiment from Our Daily Bread Designs called Bicycle.  Now I have to add, I don’t ever stamp a sentiment without using a Stampamajig and I even use it with clear stamps.  This sentiment as originally seen in the set is one long sentence.   The beauty of stamping makes it such that we can change these things if we want to; this is something I do all the time!  I needed a much more compact area because I wanted to fit into one of the new Spellbinders™  S4-367 Back to Basics Tags.  In looking for something different to do, I added Spellbinders™ Grand Labels Twenty Three behind my focal panel as a border.  I also picked a small flower die template that makes teeny tiny rolled roses from Spellbinders™ Whimsy.  ETA:  The bicycle is not a stamp but a motif on this fabulously masculine My Minds Eye paper that I picked up at Hobby Lobby.  The ODBD set does feature a bicycle also!! :-)

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps:  Our Daily Bread Designs, Bicycle
Paper:  My Minds Eye, Bazzill, Recollections Kraft
Ink: Amuse French Roast
AccessoriesSpellbinders™  S4-367 Back to Basics Tags, Spellbinders™ Grand Labels Twenty Three, Spellbinders™ Whimsy, Satin Ribbon, Recollections Pearls, pearl brad

Thanks for stopping by and remember, something good is always on the way :-)

I like the direction of your bow today – it’s nice to see different ways bows can be added since I get stuck doing the same thing over and over.

I’d love to know the size of your cards each day; would that be possible? In my mind, you are the absolute BEST designer on the web! I can’t wait each day to see what you have created. Keep up the good work!

Dear Blog friends, I had a chance to read all the comments from my blog post on Saturday morning.   I’m simply overwhelmed by your words.  One of the comments said I hope this is one of the days where you feel loved by all of your readers.  One of the days?   Just so you know, I feel that way everyday.  But more than that, I feel the sweet generosity of spirit of all the readers who pass through leaving thoughts and tips for others.

I do have a card to share today, it features a new JustRitePapercrafts set called Thank You Labels 20.  The set is designed to match Spellbinders™ Labels 20 and the center circles matches Spellbinders™ Standard Circles SM.  In addition I used Spellbinders™ Marvelous Squares to frame it all in.  I’m intrigued by the loops on the side of the frame, so naturally I’ve had a go at different weaving formations and this is one of a few I’ll be showing you.  The colors here are a little bit darker than my normal palette, but a nice change of pace.

Sometimes I can’t bear to cut the tails on the ribbons too short.  I know that will prompt people to ask what I do with them or how they can be sent that way.  I just tuck them inside the card – way easier than trying to get them the correct length and honestly I like the long length.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: JustRitePapercrafts – Thank You Labels 20
Paper:  Bazzill, Prima
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black
AccessoriesSpellbinders™ Labels 20Spellbinders™ Standard Circles SMSpellbinders™ Marvelous Squares, button, ribbon, Recollections Paper Rose, Recollections Rhnestone stickers,

I really like the black. One of my fellow cardmakers is very creative and she uses a lot of black. every week when we get together, I take my impad and show them all your creations for the week. Love getting the second one so fast ~ guess Sunday’s rain put you in a creative mood. Know it did me. The stamps add so much! Love it!

Well, you did get some beige and a shade of pink or rose in there! The black is a knockout! You must be in high hog-heaven when the new dies come out. Spellbinder’s products just keep getting better and more innovative. What wonderful toys for someone as creative and “out-of-the-box” thinking as you! What does it take to get you out of that craft barn when CHA is on the way? It is pure torture for me trying to figure out which ones I love the most and how much I can spend this time. Whacking those die templates is recommended by one of the other intricate die makers… they say it won’t damage them. I still try to be a bit judicious about how much and how hard I bang the die on the edge of my craft table. I haven’t tried the wax paper but that’s on my list of things to try. Blessings and Hugs, Becca.ReplyCancel

Hope you’re feeling better today. I am thankful for every morning that I open my eyes and I am still here. The older I get (60+), the more I try to fit as many joyful things in my day as possible.
I lost my husband to a heart attack when I was 26. Many years ago, but I have never forgotten the lesson that I learned. Love every minute and every day to it’s fullest.
With that thought in mind, my daughter and I leave tomorrow to spend a month with my dear daughter in Tn and my 5(soon to be 6)grandchildren. I live in central Florida and get to see them once a year. This will be my first time to spend a whole month with them. My husband works at Disney(35 years) and cannot take that much time off. I feel a little guilty leaving him and my home behind, but feel the need to spend quality time with my daughter and grandchildren. In a few years, she might be able to manage a trip down to visit. Until then, I will make the yearly trip to see them.
My largest regret is that I will not be able to see your blog every morning. My computer and cards will have to sit for a month.
    Have a wonderful July, Becca.
    You are such an inspiration.
    Love CherylReplyCancel
