Peace I Give You

Today was the first day of school, yay!!  I saw her off this morning at 6am and she’s home now, and I already have an appointment with her guidance counselor… sheesh!    I forgot how much effort it is to keep everybody on the same page when kids are in school.    I would have had my post up earlier but mine was the typical house on the first day of school.

Today I’m sharing with you another sample from the newly release "Peace on Earth" set from Our Daily Bread Designs.  The verse says "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.  John 14:27"   I am so taken with the serenity of this set so I wanted to try some tone-on-tone stamping with the gorgeous lion.  It blended a little bit more than I wanted so I popped it out a bit by sketching over the embossed image with a white prismacolor pencil then wiping with a dry cloth.  It put a little haze over the image and the ribbed paper really caught the white to show off texture.  I know someone will ask, so I’ll go ahead and share my serendipity moment — I used jumbo brads on each corner of the card because I wanted it to have a classy look.  Imagine my delight when I popped in a single gold brad for a different looking element – I likey.   Of course I had to top everything off with a bow!!

I had the most fabulous weekend resting at home with my family.  Church on Sunday was a highlight with a wonderful sermon from our pastor that fills me and has given me lot of bounce in my step.  Thank you for those who come again and again.   I hope you glean something that will inspire you but know that the encouragement and kind word you so freely offer is a great treasure to me.

Wow Becca! And it is another wow. There are so many elements that I love. You said it was textured paper that you stamped on, to me it looks almost like wide grosgrain or fabric. It really gives a beautiful look. I don’t quite understand what you did with the white pencil (sometimes I’m a little thick) but what ever it was don’t forget that trick, the lion is gorgeous. I love the tone on tone. He looks so regal. I love the way the ribbon behind the lion looks like you wove it (which is what you did, but for some reason it really gives it a cool effect.) And finally, your eyelet and brad combo — I noticed that right off and wondered for a minute what it was. (I always look and notice things before I read — reading first would save a lot of brain power! Thanks again for the inspiration. I love this set, I don’t have it yet, but it is on my list of must have purchases for next month!ReplyCancel

Wow! I likey too, but not just the corner gold brad elements, the whole darn thing. You always seem to have the most beautiful ribbon to match whatever else you are working with. A girl can never have too much ribbon for cardmaking, can we? It is a definite must have. I love it, very elegant? I especially love what you did with the ribbon, very creative. You rock!ReplyCancel

How do you come up with all these ideas?? You don’t sleep at night do you :)
I love your use of ribbon. I’m always too afraid to make things bulky with the “bigger” ribbon ~ but you create works of art!
    Awesome, yet again!

I love this!! It does have a very peaceful look about it, and I think it may have been the tone-on-tone that did it. Adding the white was the perfect touch…and how cool about the brads! tfsReplyCancel
