Oh Pink, I Could Not Forsake You

Lol, I am naturally drawn toward pink.  Does it come from being a girl?  I don’t know . . . but I sure spend a lot of time trying to give the other colors a chance.  Woe is me . . . I think I’ve fallen off the band wagon.  I wallowed in pink today and I feel like I’ve simply binged on it.   I’ve had this stamp in reserve, waiting to make a card with it but I since I was trying to control my use of pink, it danced on the edge, taunting me!  This is a Flourishes set called Kids Play . . . how adorable, right?!?  I love this set – it would make perfect little girls stationary  (ha-ha, or big girls stationary!!).  Pair it with The Girls Paperie line, (I used Vintage Whimsy) and I think it’s a match made in heaven.

To construct the card I cut a portion of Spellbinders Grand Circles, stamped my little girl then edged it with crepe paper that I ruffled, distressed, and edged with pearls.  I adhered my quarter circle to overlap a strip of paper cut from my background behind which I put two cut scalloped borders and adhered with foam tape.   A ribbon was run across the top edge of my paper and on the ribbon I secured a peg bow backed with Spellbinders Parisian Accents.  Lastly I cut/embossed a small pennant from Spellbinders Nested Pennants and stamped my sentiment.  Final embellishments added two buttons and a swirl of Zva pearls.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Flourishes – Kids Play
Paper: The Girls Paperie – Vintage Whimsy, Strathmore Acrylic
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black and clear embossing powder
Accessories: Spellbinders Grand Circles, Spellbinders Nested Pennants, Spellbinders Parisian Accents, EK Success Border Punch, Pearls, Ribbon, Buttons, Zva Creative Pearls

I’m touched by the amount of advice that’s coming through on the Blog Candy Post.  Please continue – remember I’ll pick a winner on Tuesday, April 12th from comments left on that post which you can find it you scroll down to April 9th!!  Along with the fact that you may win, I live in a little bit of a vacuum and the voices of reason are so welcome and helpful!!!

Lovely card, Becca! Where do you get all the beautiful paper that you use on a daily basis? Do you order it online? I always just use paper I can buy locally and for the most part it’s usually pretty boring! LOL!! But, I think it would be difficult to buy paper online… hard to tell what it would really be like and also paper is so heavy… big shipping costs. So, if you have any hints on where to find beautiful paper please share!! ReplyCancel

    Becca,
You are definitely a girlie girl. I love pink too, however, since the twins were born, it really infuriates me how hard it is to find baby things in other colors. As cute as they are in pink, I sure would like to mix it up a little.
This is a beautiful card, and I love the peg bow. I will have to make one of these jigs. I love to wood work and this looks easy enough. I like your ruffled crate paper. This would be a great tutorial if you haven’t already done this. I very seldom miss one of your postings, unless I am out of town. I just adore your art work.
