Hi there blog friends!! Somehow I thought a white card would be easy. Ahem. Not so. Not so probably because I was soooo intent on making one. I worked on it long enough, so I thought I would share it. Every once in a while I love the starkness of black and white. I had the perfect Wordsworth stamp that lent itself to dividing into four parts. I also came up with these sweet little flowers using new Spellbinders S5-067 Anemone Flower Topper. These I’ll use like this again, I’m making a larger one with a brooch in the center. The only difference with the flowers as I used them now and when I used them last week is that I cut the center from them this time. I really love the open look of the flowers.
Along the side I used one of the fab new Spellbinders Edgeabilities (E8-001 Classic Scallops). I cut each part of the sentiment from Spellbinders Long Classic Rectangles and then cut a pie shaped piece from the end of each piece.
SUPPLIES I USED |
Stamps:Wordsworth – The Woman Who Paper: Xpedx Brilliant White Cover Ink: Versafine Black Onyx (clear embossing powder) Accessories: Spellbinders Long Classic Rectangles,Spellbinders Edgeabilities (E8-001 Classic Scallops), Spellbinders S5-067 Anemone Flower Topper, White grosgrain ribbon, laced, metal buttons, linen, pearls. |
I’m all good now on the internet, but I feel like everything I touched over the last couple of days was touched by Murphys Law. I’ve got to be on the good side now but if you are mildy curious, here was my adventure . . .
Thursday early morning – dog in surgery.
Thursday morning – reboot laptop. After reboot laptop no longer works. 3 hours to restore.
Thursday afternoon – try to load video software on desktop. Nope, not without an upgrade.
Thursday evening – start upgrade – it runs all night. Test video – yay, I can use other camera now.
Friday morning – no internet. Call Comcast. It’s not them . . . bad router and switch.
Friday afternoon – off to Best Buy for a new router and switch.
Friday afternoon – stop and pick up groceries.
Friday afternoon – discover I lost IPhone at the grocery store – back to try to find it. Retrieved and relieved!
Friday afternoon – spend rest of day installing new equipment.
Friday evening – internet drops every 10 minutes.
Friday night – do research only to find out the rest of the world had same problem with that brand of router.
Friday night – despondent over internet, go to dinner with girls. On the way home it rains so hard the road floods immediately. Ask girls what’s that strange noise? The girls said it was just the hard rain. It was the sound of me dragging my car’s front bumper all the way down the street. It somehow came off? Even though I was going about 10 mph because of no visibility – it’s obvious that the bumper met with a tragic event.
Friday midnight – try to get blog post up in spite of up and down internet signal. All of a sudden, power went off then back on three times within 3 seconds. Turn desktop back on – desktop no longer works – system fan error message. (What?!? I’m sad, motherboard was just replaced in this desktop 4 weeks ago.)
Saturday morning – pack up router and switch – back to Best Buy.
Saturday mid-day – back home with new router and switch to install.
Saturday afternoon – Router and switch are good. Yay, continuous internet!
Saturday night – Becca goes to make a card to celebrate hopeful end of Murphy’s reign.
Crazy hunh? Take care friends, I’ll see you soon!!
Lets blame it on the moon phase or something!!! Murphy plagued me for about the past two weeks. I said it was something when the two best bits of news were that your roof was going to have to be replaced due to hail damage, and insurance was going to cover it, and you have been medically approved for social security disability! Glad to hear you have your issues resolved!
Oh Wow, Becca!! I think we all experience days like that once in awhile, but you seem to be so serene despite all your mishaps. Praying for no more computer woes for you from now on. What would we do without your amazing posts.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your pristine white card!!!!
Fran
Becca, I love this card and the sentiment is appropriate for many of us. That dog gone Murphy gets around… We need rain so send some our way – we got our first rain this week since December!!! Talk about a dust bowl… Keep those beautiful cards coming…
How does one know which Spellbinders fit together? Like… if i have the Petite Scalloped S4-115, which circle fits with it. Also the Classic scallop circle S4-124, which circle fits with it? How does one know while shopping for them?
If anyone else knows the answer how to do this i would love an answer!!
I just love your blog!! You are So talented.. truly amazing.
I feel so bad for you… I have those type of days hit me every once in awhile too… I’m glad you made it through… Except what caused the bumper to fall off the car???
The card is beautiful, and thanks for sharing. Sometimes it is nice to know we are not alone in having crazy days.
Yes, there was a full moon. Things have got to get better for you. Your problems didn’t hamper your creativity. Your card is gorgeous.
Oh dear me what a horrible week you’ve had and don’t you just hate it when Murphy’s around!! Lol! So happy for you that he has decided to move on now and everything seems to be going right for you now.
In spit of all this you still manage to produce the most amazing creations including the stunning white one you are showing us today…I love it and great sentiments too. Well done to you for keeping the ‘home fires burning!’
Love Sheila xx
Beautiful card and thanks for sharing. Sometimes it helps to know we are not alone when it comes to crazy days.
Oh my goodness! What else could happen in the space of three days? At least you still have your sense of humour Becca – and a beautiful card, as always!
We must be related – this sounds like one of my days. LOL. I hope your new week goes much smoother. However, I’m sure there was a lesson in there somewhere. :)
Glad things are better for you now, Becca! Gorgeous card…
Oh dear Becca! At least the M Law hasn’t corrupted your wonderful sense of humor!!
Loving this latest card. Thanks again for your inspiration.
Oh gosh what a week you had!! so sorryto hear all that, but it sure didn’t affect your mojo!! Stunning card as always!! Hugs!!
Oh Dear! Hope it’s not contagious. I’ve had my share of bad situations and hope to be on an upward swing and hoping you are too. Enjoy the remainder of your weekend. Blessings!
Oh My Becca,
I”m sooo sorry for all you mishaps. I’m glad you found your I Phone, and your internet is up and working properly. May this new week be uneventful and calm, it sounds like you could use one. Take care my blog friend.
Happy Sunday, Eunice
AMEN!!
Good golly Rebecca, glad to hear you persisted. My fortune cookie read: “Turbulence is a life force. It is opportunity. Let’s love turbulence and use it for change. Beautiful card:)
love the white and black project/card. just beautiful.
Wow you had a whirlwind of problems. glad they seem to be behind you.
Your troubles makes you stronger you made it thru. As they say when it rains it pours. Your card is beautiful. Love the monochromatic color scheme. The buttons are a nice touch on the pretty flowers. I love it. As always Becca, TFS!!! :-D
Oh Becca, I’m so sorry to hear all of that (but shhhhh, there is a side of me that is cracking up laughing…shhhhh). I have so had days like that and you either end up screaming or laughing or just sitting down and have a good old fashioned crying session. I am very glad you are up and running again…have a grrrreat day and be blessed. Hugs from Nebraska.
It sounds like you had a dangerous few days, and yet you continued to send us such lovely works of art. I’m glad your computer is up and running…I hope your dog is better…glad you found your iPhone that was misplaced…glad you’re back on the normal path. Thank you so much for all you provide us (even if it’s costing me a fortune!).
I love the white card and the great spellbinder dies. They sure have some awesome ones out.
Wow I’m glad your back up and running and no more Murphys law. you got hit with it for sure. Hugs and love to you always
Becca this card is spectacular. I can see this design used for many occasions. Luv the flowers with the fabric covered buttons. I have a wedding to attend and this would make the perfect card. I will have to alter a few things since I won’t have these dies to create with yet, but I will have to improvise. Thanks.
Marcie
Becca,
WOW! What a day….sounds familiar. You know, Murphy was an optimist.
Love your Anemone flowers….absolutely delicate and beautiful! And
the quote…the one I have is a little longer than yours, but both give the same message.
Thanks. We here in sw WI are under a 5 day heat warning…this will be a long 5 days of staying cool. Carol
Totally gorgeous card, Becca! Love the flowers down the side. Sorry to hear about all your issues with Murphy – he isn’t my favorite guest LOL! Fingers crossed for all to go smoothly now :)
Oh my, Becca! What a horrible three days that was. I cannot believe the computer problems, what in the world is going on with computers now anyway? I am so sorry to hear about you and Murphy! I really don’t appreciate Murphy’s Law at all. I have had my share of those days. I hope you were able to figure out why the bumper was dragging! Very glad you found your Iphone, that would have been a terrible loss. Hope the dog is recovering okay and I just want to say that despite all the problems, you still come up with one of the most beautiful cards! I am totally in love with white with black accent. That flower is so pretty and love the button center. Keep hanging in there. We would really miss your gorgeous creations. We all love you and your precious work.
OMG Becca you’ve had quite the last few days. Murphy seems to get around as I had my fill of him on Thrusday myself. Glad he had moved on from us both.
Your card is brilliant. Ellegant and classy.
Blessings Bernie
Oh, poor Becca! You are a paragon of patience and so adept in the digital-computer stuff, too. I don’t know how you figure out what’s “dead” when things stop working. I’m blessed with a husband who understands it all and has patience.
You truly have my admiration for so many beautiful postings, too.
Elaine
Oh Becca! What a catalogue of disasters! Yet you have the ability to come on here – despite techie problems – and wow us with another fabulous creation!
Do hope that the dog is recovering and that the car is fixed.
Hugs
Anne (UK) x
Hopefully you have all your bad luck at once. How awful. I know things will go well for you from now on. You are such a good person, sharing all you do with all of us. God got you through with your trust in him.
You poor dear ~ starting with your beautiful new card things are going to get better! As always thank you for sharing. Blessings.
I am sorry you had such a week! Save this and read it back in about a month and you will probably laugh…gotta love life.
They say things go in three’s well you should be good for the rest of the year.
BTW how’s the dog?
Do you ever wonder if events like that are from God to help keep you away from danger, or put you out there where someone can be blessed by you? I think of that AFTER I get upset, AFTER I fuss and fume, and AFTER I tear my hair out, then as I progress through the events, I realize…it could have been for a higher purpose. I guess only God knows for now, but I sure do wish I could learn that lesson sooner than later!!!
I’m glad you are home and your router/computer messes are fixed!! I know it’s no fun, but now maybe you won’t have any more problems for a very long time with those components. AND, the card you made is gorgeous!! I love the all white composition of it and the new nesties are so pretty!
Blessings to you! Doni
Aww, life. . .it just keeps happening! But you’ve obviously come out on top! The card is beautiful!
Oh Becca I feel for you. I once had a similar computer experience and it just isn’t fun! I am happy that all is going well now! Your card is gorgeous! Blessings to you for your perserverance in getting it all resolved!
Your Bio-rythms were off Becca – LOL! But your prevailed. Your card is just beautiful! I hope this is the end of your little mishaps.
Elaine Allen
BECCA iam so sorry to hear of the couple of days that you just experienced!~
I just went thru a few like that, Drop the cooked ribs on the floor, open fridge and out pops an egg onto the floor. Big puddle of egg. Out with the salt to
clean it. For three days that is what I had. But your beautiful white cards sure
made me feel better. Somedays you just need a white card.
Sometimes I think we need a bad couple of days and then we
create muxh nicer cards.
cynthia
What a beautiful card you were able to create out of all the madness of the past few days!
OMGoodness! What a mess! I had to laugh because my impression of you from your blog is that stuff like this probably never happens to you. You’re not alone; God is there to help you with these frustrations. Still smiling…
Sounds like you’ve had a rough few days. Hope all is well now! Love the card.
You have a great attitude Becca. All things are possible with God. Love your card and those beautiful flowers. Hope that your days to come are Murphy-free!
Becca…you fought and you won!! Yea!
Love the card and the saying…A+!
Question about your decorative pins….how long are the pins and where do you dind them. Also how do you keep the beads on…glue?
Thanks for sharing your creativity!
Sue
Calamities! It happens to each one of us too! Glad you took time to “de-stress.” I wouldn’t have a clue on how to do the tech things you did so my computer would have been in the shop for even longer. Days like those are a test of patience and faith.
Becca,
And I though I was the only one with a lot of little mishaps.
GLAD to know everything is back to normal and HOPE it will remain that way.
LOVE you blog.
You are a VERY talented, you do wonderful cards.
Just joined your blog about 1 to 2 weeks ago… this is my first, hope I am doing this right…lol
Beautiful black and white card! What an adventure you had though! I had one of those similar a couple weeks ago. I don’t know but it felt like a test to me! How is your dog?
You are really made of good stuff, Becca! After all that craziness, you still have a sense of humor and a gorgeous card, to boot! Really love what both the card, and your story, says.
Love your card, gives me an idea for a white wedding card. You said Thursday morning dog in surgery, you did not tell the outcome; please say everything turned out okay for pup.
Oh, Becca – this sounds like some of my weeks! I’m delighted to see you could make a beautiful card after all that grief!! You go girl!
Becca that Murphy sure has a lot to answer for;. Lets hope that he has finished with you now.
Hugs trish.
Oh, I know just how you feel. This didn’t all happen the same week, but within a month and a half I’d say. Our AC broke, dishwasher broke, corian in kitchen broke, toilet broke, ice maker broke, and our garage door fell down. There was probably more, but that’s all I remember. Doesn’t anyone make quality products any more?
BTW, I couldn’t find the anemone flowers on the Spellbinders website. Is that because they are just being released at CHA?
So sorry Becca. Sometime when it rains-it pours – literaly. So glad your back up and running and making a card on top of everything going on. You are a superwoman.
Oh my Becca. At least you knew what to do. I’m not able to fix my computer by myself. Good going girl. Proud of you. Rest…It’s Sunday. The Lords day. Breath.
Bless you heart! What a trial! Glad to see that things seem to be better……..I have been having computer problems also, not sure how to remedy them………… so I can relate.
What a miserable three days! On the plus side, you’ve survived your ordeals. Hope your pooch is feeling better. I feel in my bones that you’re in for a really good streak to offset the hopefully-now-ended bad one.
How you managed to create beauty during this stressful period is amazing. The white and black creation is stunning. I particularly like the Spellbinders Flower Topper.
Happy Days!
Becca, I’m so sorry you’ve been going through all of this, prayers for smooth sailing now and added prayers for your dog, hope he/she is OK now.
Wow I have been having a stressed all week end too, everything going wrong oven, amongst other things. But after reading yours. I’m glad I didn’t get your problems. I would never have been able to solve them. Your great. Hugs x ChrisB
very bad week, hate weeks like that but we wouldn’t have rainbows without rain, right??? beautiful card. love all white. i’m on a white kick right now. thrilled to see so many white Ranger products. and gotta love Spellbinders, i’m spending my kids inheritance on them. lol
So glad you hung in there and didn’t let Murphy continue the reign. Seems to me you are now due for an enormous amount of good luck now!! Lovin that card in white.
Becca,
That was one long weekend. I can empathize as Murphy lives at our house too. Still your spirit rose above the difficulties and rejoyed in a new card. Thank you.
Glad Murphy’s Law came to an end, but how is the dog?
Glad Murphy’s Law came to an end…..but how is the dog?
Hi Becca, I had to write to say how sorry I am that you had to go through all of this. The amazing thing is that in your telling not once did I hear exasperation, you are an amazing person! I would have been climbing the walls, ranting, raving, & driving everyone within my vacinity out of their minds. Your ability to cope stems I’m certain from her Godly devotion. I admire you so. God Bless, and you take care, it’s an honor to know you. jo
Hi Becca, Don’t feel like the Lone Ranger, we all have days and sometimes
weeks like the one you just had! Glad to hear everything is okay and working just fine, hope your dog is doing okay too! Lucy
thanks becca! I needed a good laugh, dragging the bumper home! sounds like me!!!
Aww, Becca, bless your heart! It sounds like you’ve had what we call “Gibson Luck”, because crazy stuff seems to happen to us like that, too. My husband and I have even passed it on to our daughter, unfortunately for her. But things usually work themselves out, and we learn another lesson in patience and perseverance!
Glad to hear you made it through, and things are looking up!
BTW, I love your card! Can’t wait to get my hands on those new dies!
Donna G
Wow! And you still have such a wonderful attitude. I honestly do not know how you do it. Thank you for sharing.
Very beautiful card! So sorry that you had such a crazy adventure. Hope that things get better and that you can see some of God’s blessings through all the challenges.
Becca…Please update us about your dog . Hope all is going wrell for you now. I also experience these kinds of “blocks” of difficulty…but then the positive side comes thru. That is because God loves us and is watching out for us. Take Care.
i’m glad murphy gets the blame. i tried to veiw your post yesterday and had no luck. now i know it was just that louse , murphy. who invited him anyway? beautiful card.
First, I hope the dog came through surgery and will be fine. That in itself would be a big enough worry, but oh, all of the computer problems you had would be enough for me to be climbing the walls and screaming. I wouldn’t know a thing about how to install any of those things. Wishing you the best of luck that all of your problems have now ended for good. Please update on the dog.
Beautiful card and thanks for sharing. Sometimes it helps to know we are not alone when it comes to crazy days.
Good grief, glad things are going better for you ! :)
Well – there was a full moon on Friday……we always blamed the crazy mood of our students on that fact (!).
This card is lovely…..I love the Anemone Flower die – I think I NEED this die.
Thanks for sharing, Becca.
hugs
Yea, that Murphy has been hanging around my house too. WOW, how do you shoo that dude away? Beautiful card and can’t wait for that die. Don’t cha just love those Spellbindrs?!?!
Yikes It looks like everything that could possibly go wrong did. I hope things settle down and get back to normal for you very soon!!
Friday was a Full Moon :(
I only dropped or spilled everything I touched since Friday. You got the fully whammy.
Gorgeous card!!
Becca,
Bless your heart! My computer just recently decided to not recognize my CD/DVD player/burner and I am hating to take it back to factory settings because I don’t want to have to reinstall everything including my internet! I hope your computer problems are now completely solved and everything will go smoothly for you. I love your card and your spirit!!
Oh boy! Murphy is reigning! Please don’t let um visit Southern California! LoL Glad you worked out some most of those problems. Weird thing with the bumper though. You think someone hit it while it was parked?? That happened to me. In front of my house!
Dear Becca…what a horrible time you’ve had. Like they say when it rains sometimes it also pours.. I think you’ve had your pouring for a long while now.
Happy your back up and connected. You sound like you stayed calm and cool though and that’s more than I would feel..I would be yelling and panicked.
Your a very cool cat Becca and stay that way. We all love the way you are.
pat
wow..what an adventure.. When it rains it pours.
This card is just stunning..”And I am so glad you did a Becca bit on this “.
Becca–Can’t tell you how much I’ve enjoyed your blog and tutorials. Just yesterday I talked my hubby into drilling holes in an old wooden bow maker that had been lurking in the closet for about 20 years. I think my mom bought it at a craft store. It had two holes with removable pegs at the center and one-inch markings across, but was designed for large wreath bows I think. Works just fine now with your design . Sorry you had such a crazy week, but at least I know that when I have computer problems, I’m probably not the only one. Thanks again!
Love the creative way you used this die. What a classy look! Thanks so much for taking the time to do this tutorial!
Oh my goodness gracious, this all sounds like a bad dream. We had the same kind of things happen to us ……. only it happened for about 10 years. without much of a break….. it was so bad that if we went 3 days in a row with out some thing bad happening, we would say, ” do you think it is over now “. I can’t explain why or how but I know it was an awful time. I could go into a big long drawn out story of what all happened but it is a time better left behind. I will say I feel like my faith got a good work out. I never stopped loving God but humanly speaking I did ask “why “. I kept thinking about Job and how much he was loved by our Father and that helped me to cope, I kept saying ” Boy, God must really love me alot too”. : ) I say that jokingly but I really do believe there was a good reason, other wise, our family would not have had such trials to experience. Anyway, I hope things will be better from now on. We have never met, but I consider you a good friend and someone who I know I will see in Heaven, so until then God bless and many blessings sent your way…… Denice
This card is stunning!
I am sure there is no rhyme or reason to Murphy’s Law but a lot of comfort in knowing that Murphy really does seem to spread himself about a bit! – oceans and continents are no barrier to him!
Oh Becca, what a couple of crazy days. I am glad they are over for you and that you are up and running.
How is your pup doing after surgery? I hope all is well.
God bless you girl. You are an encouragement even when Murphy’s Law strikes.
Hugs,
Deb
So crisp, clean and cool! Loved it – bless you!
Kay in OK
Dear Becca….I will try to arrange a hit on Murphy…….My heart goes out to you. I have had similar days but…..to paraphrase “greater than your pain is mine, because its’ mine…….” Bless you and hope the cloud over your head is gone.
How is your dog? :(
Oh yeah, I know that feeling! That’s just the sort of week I’ve been having. Glad to hear that yours is on an upswing, maybe there’s hope for me yet!
R/
Becca, I’m so sorry about those two days and all the events. I’ve had more than a few of them myself. I read that when we have those things happen it just makes us appreciate it more when they are going well for us. Sometimes I think that’s a nice thought maybe, but can I just have a vacation from it once in a while? lol I guess it just truly is part of the ups and downs of life. I’d just like to say that you bring so much joy to me in seeing your beautiful work. I hope there is something that brings that same sort of joy to you. I just recently found your site and I love to come and see what you’ve made and I love your tutorials too. God Bless you and thank you for sharing your wonderful talent with us.
Your card is just beautiful, so sorry you went through all that stuff, but you made it through and today is a new day and a new beginning as every day is. Thanks for sharing and showing how you made the flowers.
Your card is just beautiful. So sorry you had all that turmoil, today is a new day and a new beginning as every day is. Hope the dog is alright and your car. Thank you for sharing how to make the flowers you always make every thing look so beautiful.
hmmmm… what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger, right? This is an absolutely beautiful card, Becca!
Oh dear Becca..what a time you have had, I think we all experience these types of days every now and then but hopefully Murphy will not knock on your door for a while now LOL
Your card is beautiful as always.
LOL Eileen
such beautiful flowers and look like t hey would be easy enough for me to try, thanks so much.
