Oh my goodness blog friends, I guess I didn’t know what I got myself into offering up this video tutorial for the Spellbinders Gilded Gatefold Card. I’ve been working on it all week and finally got to the end today. So you know me, I always do new samples when I do a video so today is no different. Using simply precious new stamps from QQuietfire Design, I created a new baby keepsake to announce a birth. I went all girl because you know I jump at any chance to use pink. Rest assured though, the stamp set includes everything needed to switch over to little boy!!
Here’s a peek inside!
On the inside I used Spellbinders Floral Ovals to create a frame where I hung this darling Spellbinders Dresses One (I love those dresses)! All I did to it was wrap ribbon around it and put a flower on it. Then on the right side I typed the name of a the newborn and her birth date. I used Quietfire Design Welcome Little One stamp set and filled in the center with A Baby is a Little Bit of Heaven. Of course the outside of the card is done with Spellbinders Gilded Gate Two and I popped up Spellbinders Gold Labels Four on both the outside of the card and the inside of the card for my sentiment. The dotted embossing is done by Spellbinders Dainty Dots.
The name and date of birth below were printed on my inkjet printer.
I hope you enjoy the tutorial, I show you how to make the Christmas Card first, but once you understand the layout, it’s very easy to do it for any occasion. (Note: the thicker your paper, the more difficult it will be to make the card lay completely flat. Once the bow and embellishments are applied to the front, that will help a great deal).

Becca, that is such a beautiful card. I have one question: If you printed the name and birth date on your inkjet, what font did you use? If that is one of your fonts, I would love to have such a font for my printer, too. I’ve often thought I wish I had an elaborate font like that for my computer to print with. That way, I would not be limited to just the words on a stamp.

Just such a lovely card that you make it look so easy to do. The magnets were new to me but liked the effect. The baby card is totally awesome ~ I just love PINK just like you. I hope you can tell us what the font is because I think I am the third or fourth one to ask. Very elegant and a lot of time we are all looking for something like this font for the inside. Thank you if you could let us know on that. Such inspiration you give all of us and we do appreciate it.

I adored the pink baby card! What a treasure for the Mom and Baby. I was born in 1947 and I still treasure my baby book with all the cards my Mother recieved, my lock of hair and foot print.
Do you make sure you have all the pieces cut and embossed before you even start assembling, or do you make the base and then cut and emboss the layers and decorations as you go?
Do you have the card preplanned before you even start or do you decide as you assemble?

OW! Again! You are my favorite designer. Was one of the first to sign up for the Gold club. Missing only one of your cling stamps (don’t care for clear) and when I had to cut down on the number of emails per day, you’re the only designer I didn’t UNsubscribe. Imagine my excitement Sat. when David G. was drawn on the first day.. Sent him a text but he couldn’t get to a computer for over 5 hours. My son won!!! And I’m first on the list to borrow it until I get my own. Sounds like they plan to send them out before the stores get them. Last year when I won Day 7, they didn’t arrive until mid September. Thanks for all your terrific designs. And for showing some more samples from one of the Gold kit dies.

Loved your card and video….it’s always a thrill to see your creative projects. So stunning and gorgeous.
Something I saw on a blog recently for adhereing those intricate die cuts was E6000 adhesive now comes in a spray mist and it dries in 1 to 3 minutes and it really does dry clear…some of the glues that profess drying clear still leave a glossy glob where it oozes out from the edges of die cuts. I just cut all my die cut pieces for my project, lay them face down in a shoe box or equivalent, mist them with the E6000 spray adhesive and then use tweazers to place them on my project….it really does what it says it will do and I love it. You do need to follow the instructions on the bottle for cleaning the sprayer when you are finished using your glue so the nozzle isn’t clogged with dry glue….I found it very easy to clean.
I found this spray adhesive at Michael’s and with a coupon got it really cheap. It normally retails for $9.99, so at 40% off it was nothing and I expect a bottle to last a while. Hope you’ll give it a try. I make a lot of cards using die cuts and it has definitely improved the finished look of my projects to not have that shiny residue around the edges.
I really love this design – wil be trying this. Love the font also! Thanks for the videe – it makes all the difference to see how it goes together rather than just reading a description.

This card is amazing. I can’t imagine the amount of time & effort you put into the tutorial. I never would have thought of using magnets in a card. The FONT is sooooooooo elegant. What is the name of it or where would I find it? I need to get the Spellbinders die so I can try making this card too.

Becca, four years ago my husband suffered a massive stroke a few weeks after his 50th birthday. During the following two weeks he suffered 4 more strokes. Up to that time I was a stamper/card maker and had so much “stuff” I could have opened my own store. After my sweetheart became ill, all of our belonging were auctioned off and 5 months later he left the hospital and we moved in with my daughter. I haven’t made a card since. But then about 6-7 weeks ago I came across your site and I am ready to start again!! You are so very talented and I can’t thank you enough for inspiring me to start making cards again. We don’t have much because I cannot work, (he needs constant care) but God will provide. In the meantime, I want to begin a collection of Spellbinder dies. Which ones would you suggest that I start with? I can probably purchase 2 or 3 to start. Thanks so much if you can respond. I know how busy you must be.
