Today I am using Spellbinders S4-293 Lacey Circles die template along with a sentiment from JustRite Stampers – Sparky and Friends Cling Set. I jumped at the chance to make an altered item as my base using Spellbinders LF-114 Grand Circles with my Grand Calibur Die Cutting Machine. I’ve always been intrigued with Tussie Mussies (from what I research, it’s a little cone made to hold flowers). My project today is a different kind of cone – it’s made using two circles that are glued together (so it’s really more like a double cone). Because the circles are large, it gives me ample room to decorate using my favorite S4-293 Lacey Circles.
To start out I cut two same size circles and bordered them with ruffled crepe paper on the inside. I cupped each circle in half to get an idea where I was going to glue them together, making sure I had enough room for my tassel. After gluing I added additional trim along the edges on the outside. I glued trim on each side of the inside of the cone for a handle. For the center I cut/embossed two lacey circles then made each a frame by cutting out the center with Spellbinders S4-116 Standard Circles SM and Spellbinders S4-114 Standard Circles LG. This Tussie Mussie is holding flowers but could just as easily hold candy or a small gift and hangs beautifully from a Christmas Tree.

Gorgeous!
As is so often the case, I see something you’ve created and wondered, “why didn’t I think of that?!” I love making Tussie Mussies (stuffed with homemade chocolates and wee toys) and have always grappled with the semi circular design. Now, with your inspiration, I’ll be making them fuss-free this year and will even add a few ribbon flower toppers just for fun.
Thank you for sharing all your wonderful creations and may the Lord continue to guide you through your days.

Victorian’s were very creative and created gorgeous ideas. Tussie Mussies are lovely, whether it’s for the pretty look or if used with fragrant herbs and dried flowers or pot pourri in the centre for a lovely room freshener.
