The Light that Guides You

I have Share the Wealth Blog Candy going on right now on this post HERE! Come play!!

Smooches friends!!  I hope you’re having a fab day and staying warm wherever you are.  I was as slow as a snail, but I put this card together today.  It’s much the result of  playing around.  I wanted to experiment with the new Rose Creations die templates from Spellbinders that were designed by Donna Salazar.  Oh.my.goodness, they are wonderful.  Here I took one and cut it out multiple times and painted it with light yellow watercolor paint and touched pink to the edges.  This is my first try with the coloring but I know I’ll go back and work with that more.  Once I had the flower done, I decided it needed a card, lol.  Here I used Lacey Pennants as a base – – there are two different triangles stacked the opposite way to create some interest in the background.

Try as I may to get the words on the outside of the card, it just didn’t work out.  I usually leave my insides blank but I flipped the words to the inside to spare me the angst of reworking the outside.  It gave me an opportunity to use that wonderful border from Spellbinders Banner Basics One – I just love that spikey border!  I’m using a new set by Our Daily Bread Designs called Faith.

SUPPLIES I USED

Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs – Faith
Paper
: Bazzill, Wild Asparagus
Ink: Dye based ink: maroon
Accessories:
Spellbinders Labels Eighteen,
Spellbinders Nested Lacey Pennants, Spellbinders Border Basics One, Spellbinders Rose Creations, Ribbon, Pearls

So I hope you find time in your day to create, what good therapy!!  Be blessed friends!

When I first saw the rose I thought it was real. Well, that couldn’t be, so I thought maybe a Prima flower. But no, You created this with a first time paint job. Utterly gorgeous!!

Becca, I have never used stamps from the Just Rite Co. Could you a tutorial on how these work and which ones would be good for a first time
purchase. I’ve gont to there site but am so confused re: sizes.

  • Marcie SmithJanuary 27, 2011 - 2:43 pm

    Oh Becca,
This flower is so life like. I pre-ordered most of the dies from the new release, but unfortunately, I did not get any of Donna’s dies. I am already regretting this decision and may have to do something about that. There were just to many to choose from. I love the unusal ways that you have been using the pennant dies. Leave it to you to recreate the wheel so to speak. Love it as always. Don’t know what I’d do if I didn’t have my morning fix of Amazing Paper Grace. Hugs.

I’m running out of superlatives to write on your cards! Each gift seems to be more stunning than the previous one. I have a question regarding what type of paper you used to make the rose…cardstock?weight? For a few minutes of gazing at the card, the rose was just too realistic..I had to read the recipe. This spellbinder will be a definite ‘must’, but even so, MY flowers won’t look like YOUR flowers!!! Thanks for sharing. Hope the year has gone pretty well for you so far. God Bless.ReplyCancel

Gorgeous as always! I love that rose. It looks like the rose my dad grew when I was a girl. I this it was a variation of a Peace rose. I loved it. The year he died, there was one single blossom on the bush, and it had 2 inches of snow on it. What a joy it was to see that rose still there after the snow was gone! It was as though Dad was telling us he was ok, and no longer in pain! Thanks, Becca, for the walk down memory lane.ReplyCancel
