Hello there friends! Thanks for stopping in to see me yesterday. Today I have a card to share, and it’s so sad to say, but this type of card doesn’t linger in my stash. I always seem to have need for Sympathy Cards and I have several friends that experienced losses quite recently. So in sitting down to make this, I did pick light colors but nothing too flashy. I’m using a JustRite Stampers set, Sympathy Nested Sentiment and Verse. As far verses go, this set gives me sooooo much flexibility. I put two of the sentiments on the outside and one on the inside.
To construct the card I started out with a 5 x 7″ base and layered on a panel of a slightly smaller width and length. I then constructed three medallions made using Spellbinders Tags Trio Two as the base. I then cut an oval using Spellbinders Classic Ovals LG and topped it off with a the thinnest of Spellbinders Fancy Tags. I used my Stampamajig to stamp the sentiment on each tag but it could just as easily have been stamped then cut out. On the inside put down a strip of my left over scraps then stamped my main sentiment and cut it from Spellbinders Classic Ovals SM and matted it with Spellbinders Scalloped Ovals SM.
Card Recipe: Stamps: JustRite Stampers Sympathy Nested Sentiment and Verse (Original) Paper: Basic Grey – Capella, The Paper Company Ink:Versafine – Vintage Sepia, Antique Linen Distress Ink, Spun Sugar Distress Ink Accessories: Spellbinders™ Classic Ovals LG #2 , Spellbinders™ Classic Ovals SM #4, Spellbinders™ Scalloped Ovals SM, Spellbinders™ Fancy Tags, Spellbinders™ Tags Trio Two, Ribbon, Pearls |
I’ll be back tomorrow with another project. Keep checking in, okay?
Absolutely beautiful Becca, as always. Looking forward to your upcoming changes, not sure how the blog can get better – it is the BEST now!
What a calming color combination you used. I really like the way you layered those tags – I have them and will definitely be doing this! Like you, I never seem to have sympathy cards waiting for the occasion. I think the older we get, the more losses of loved ones we have.

I think that sympathy cards are cards that we hate to make but are just a must have to have at hand in our arsenal. Your card is just lovely, great L.O. and for some reason the colors are so calming. The bow is a nice finishing touch. As always Becca, TFS!!! :-D

Such a lovely card for a very sad time in someone’s life. I wish I was half as creative as you, Becca!
Beautiful card as always. It is hard to make sympathy cards for me, my mind has a hard time getting around the idea. Thanks for sharing
I too seem to be making a lot of sympathy cards lately.
Oh WOW, Becca…..it is BEAUTIFUL.
Stunning card Becca, inside and out.
Your layering is so beautiful – it really makes your cards stand out. It’s good to see a sympathy card. As you well know, they are a necessary part of life, and mean so much to the recipient, just to know someone cared enough to send one, especially a hand-made one. So thanks for including this in your ideas!
I love this, Becca. I have been making and sending many sympathy cards lately too. I will have to get these stamps. Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful card! TFS – it’s so stunning!
A beautiful card for such a difficult situation. I’m sure your recipient will be touched with these beautiful JustRite sentiments. Need to be sure to add this set to my collection of JRs.
I love the layered labels. I just got the set (with the bottom label) a few weeks ago. What a great idea to use them this way.
Thanks for sharing your creativity!
Becca: This card is awesome from the colors you chose to all the layering. I do have the SB tags and want to use yours as an inspiration after the holidays. Seems those sympathy cards are always in demand.
Becca,
I just admire you as a crafter and creator of these paper crafts. I am in awe of how you and some of your friends come up with the designs on a regular basis. This is beautiful.
I am sure the people who get these creations know that you are sending to them God’s love and your support. Death is a sad part of this life but a celebration towards what is in store.
Thank you for sharing…
Love it, love it, love it!
Goodness! What a help! I am taking a break from all occaision card sets as gifts and had never thought of using pastels for sympathy sentiments. I shall now!
Thanks!!
A very beautiful card with all the softness and elements. Im sure that it will bring great comfort to your friends.
This a very soft and serene card that I am sure will be a blessing to it’s recipients! Beautiful!!

This is BEAUTIFUL, Becca!!! You always use such PRETTY papers too!!! With your talent….You make them all SPECTACULAR!!! :)
Beautiful Card Becca. Yes time with loved ones should and will last forever one day. Thanks!
Would not have thought to use Pink for a sympathy card, but it is JUST PERFECT. You made such a lovely card, as always. This card would be such a comfort for the recipient to know that someone was caring so much to take the time to make this beautiful card at such a sad time. I’m not sure how you could make your blog any better than it already is, but I’m looking forward to whatever changes you have planned. I know it will be terrific. Hope it means more video tutorials! Love those.
Blessings and Hugs to you & your family.
Such a lovely card, quite elegant and calm, perfect for this type of card. I too find that lately, I’m making more Sympathy cards for myself and friends than happy cards. I hope that 2011 will change all that – for you, for me, for everybody out there that is experiencing the same situation. I’m keeping my eye on your site (I only hope that whenever the change comes, I’m quick on the draw! LOL).
This is just beautiful. I love the way you layered the tags.
Becca, this is just so beautiful and heartfelt. I love the way you used two different set of tags and slipped them together. I have also been making many sympathy cards lately. I pray you are doing well. May you and your family have Merry Christmas.
God bless,
Peggy
I think this is the most beautiful sympathy card I have ever seen.
Another “Aha” moment in card construction! I would never have thought to use three tags! Your card is beautiful! You are indeed gifted! Thanks again for sharing that gift!
Beautiful card and so unique in the use of multiple tags. You have a wonderful eye for balance and color.
This is really quite beautiful. Such tender thoughts. Hope your doing well during the holiday season – wishing you all the best!
Your cards are always so beautiful and inspiring!! I love what you make just using your Nestabilities. I got me a Slice die cutting machine and so I got rid of a bunch of my Nestabilities but I am regretting that decision because I know see how easy they are to run through the CB!!! Great job!!!
Greeting from cold Ontario:
What a talented, inspiring person you are — thank you for taking the time to share your gift with others. You’ve introduced me to Spellbinders and using ribbon. I’ve been checking your site daily for quite a while now, so finally thought I’d better just subscribe. Looking forward to the changes; I’m sure they’ll be “amazing”. May God grant you and your family His peace and comfort during this difficult time for you.

Hi Becca
I have never e-mailed before but have read your blog regularly for a long time now. You are a very lovely talented person and i always want to make something new after visiting your blog. Your creations are terrific, I would recognise your style anywhere. Keep inspiring. Your latest piece is typically beautiful and typically you.
If I received a card like this pink one during a time of grieving, I would be lifted up and comforted. The pink and the pearls gives me such a feeling of just being folded in and cared for. Thank you for sharing this. I know your sympathy cards come totally from your heart now. You know that feeling and it is fresh in your heart. Because of that you know what comforts. Thank you for sharing this beautiful card with us.

Thanks for the encouragement to use the soft colors for sympathy cards…your card is lovely!

Beautiful as usual, and very inspiring. I have an aquaintance who just lost their 5 month old preemie a few days ago. Now I’m imagining a take on this with perhaps a place for a photo of baby with saying… Something frameable (your work certainly is!) or something that can be tucked away and cherished.
Your card will certainly uplift someone when they are in pain. Love the color combo. Christmas blessings to you and your family.
Beautiful and sensitive card. As I’ve gotten older, I seem to need more sympathy cards. Your card would definitely bring comfort to someone. Happy Friday.
