Tinkering with Two Tones

Hello there blog friends!  Well, it’s just a tone week isn’t it?  When I made my card yesterday I had a couple of other cards in progress and for all of them I was working with tone on tone.  This started out being a tone on tone card, then I switched it up today and added another color, a soft color.   This was the first time I’ve played around with Spellbinders™ Grand Decorative Circles One and it was the inspiration for a round 6″ x 6″ card with some patterning on the inside.  Again, I wanted a touch of texture so I picked Spellbinders™ Garden Lattice embossing folder and topped the design off with Spellbinders™ Vintage Lace Motifs.  The three small flowers with leaves on the edge of the card are Spellbinders™ Bitty Blooms.  The sentiment is a Quietfire Design stamp from the new Happy Family Days  that just happened to fit perfectly!!

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Quietfire Design – Happy Family Days
Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Natural White, The Paper Company
Ink: Weathered Wood Distress Ink
Accessories:  Spellbinders™ Grand Decorative Circles OneSpellbinders™ Garden LatticeSpellbinders™ Vintage Lace MotifsSpellbinders™ Bitty Bloomsseam binding, Corsage Pin, Recollections Pearls

Since I’m on a bookmark kick, I made a matching bookmark from one of the new Our Daily Bread Designs sets and used two of their bookmark dies on the project.  I simply glued one on top of the other and it actually gives it a lot of stability.   Could not resist the bow, but it’s at the top and shouldn’t interfere with a thing :-)

Take care friends — today I’m inspired by a Japanese proverb — fall down seven times, stand up eight.  I hope today finds you standing :-)

Hi Becca, love this idea. say! I thought I would pass on information. I have this special book mark die from ODB. and love the set. One big thing I do is cut them out of cereal box first, and the cut the paper for the image and color. the cereal box cut gives it extra strength and support for the die. It is free, recycling the cereal box ,a not a heavy as chip board , so easier to mail. Try it, It;s been a life saver using the cereal box in many ways. OH! I place wax paper over the die if cutting a very detail die and still use the cereal box cut , then continue . Hope you try this idea. Have a good day and thanks so much for doing book marks, I love doing them. ( OH! one more thing I use the Cuttle bug and Grand Cal or cricut expression for cutting)…..hugs and smilesReplyCancel

Blue and white is probably one of my favorite color combinations, and you really maxed it out in this card, Becca! Those roses are just wonderful (why do mine never look that real?) and the pale blue layer behind the white is gorgeous. You are such an artist!ReplyCancel

Absolutely love tone on tone. It just “zings” in my book. Do you make your own stick pins? They really make your cards pop, but I have yet to find them at reasonable prices. Love the blues and those flowers are just gorgeous! You should be named Layering Queen!!!ReplyCancel
