Today We Celebrate You

Good morning friends :)  I’m popping in to share a card with one of my favorite colorways.  I’m not sure when the inspiration grabbed me, perhaps I was looking at my coffee or thinking about creamy chocolate when that “go” button clicked in my mind for a tone on tone card with cream and brown.  It’s one of my favorites for sure and I’d like to think that the colors are classic.   I pulled out one of the new sets by JustRite Papercrafters along with the die template made to match – Botanical Medallions and Banners along with the matching die template – Nested Oval Medallions.  I paired it up with Spellbinders™ Labels Twenty Two and Spellbinders™ Floral Flourishes.  The filigree background is done with a border punch using the technique I demonstrate HERE.

SUPPLIES I USED
StampsJustRite Papercrafters  – Botanical Medallions and Banners Nested Oval Medallions
Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Cream, Bazzill
Ink: Amuse – French Roast
Accessories:  Spellbinders™ Labels Twenty Two, Spellbinders™ Floral Flourishes, seam binding, lace, Spare Parts Flowers, Pearl Pic, Satin Ribbon, Recollections Pearls, EK Success Border Punch

Since it’s a very rare occasion for me to make an A2 card – I decided to whip up a quick one.  My favorite card size is 5″ x 7″ but this little one was a lot of fun.  It was precisely the amount of real estate I wanted for the small sentiment from Our Daily Bread Designs in their Dream Set.  I added a couple of store bought doilies as a layer then added a distressed flower and some seam binding.

SUPPLIES I USED
StampsOur Daily Bread Designs – Dreams
Paper: My Minds Eye
Ink: Colorbox Chalk Ink – Rose Coral
Accessories:  Seam Binding, Pearl Brad, Silk Flower, doilies

I’m in a crafty mood today, how about you?  I’m wishing you both a creative and rewarding day.  See you tomorrow and thanks so much for stopping by!!

My day is made – two Becca cards to drool over. I have a big weakness for tone on tone cards and your coffee with cream creation is a masterpiece. It stands up and demands to be noticed. And we do.

I also have a weakness for pink and the sentiment from ODBD. Indeed, I just happen to have received the Dream set a couple of weeks ago and love it to bits. You set off the sentiment beautifully, as you always do.ReplyCancel

  • Beth PMay 30, 2012 - 3:36 pm

Becca you are brilliant! I just tried making the background and oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh!!! It worked – it even works with the more open border punches like MS hydrangea punch! You have opened a whole new door for me…thanks bunches!
    Hugs,

  • Julie BMay 30, 2012 - 7:28 pm

I really like this colorway, too. But its all the other things that you add that make your cards so special.
I have a question for you, Becca…you mention in today’s post that you may have been drinking your coffee and that could have inspired this card, but my question is..do you have parts of cards, maybe backgrounds, bows, flowers etc already made up to put together later? Do you have days where you just make parts of cards in different colors to be added to different cards later?
    thank you

In reply to JulieB on Comment#24 – I truly am a frugal stamper, I save everything and if something didn’t work for the card I’m working on – it goes in the bow basket, the die cut basket or the embellie basket for a gig on another card or project. For this card the filigree background, the bow and the Labels Twenty Two die cut came out of one of my baskets of cast offs. In any case, it is never foresight (as in making things in advance) it is aftersight (as in oh gosh, I can’t let that go) :-)ReplyCancel

Gorgeous Becca! I don’t remember you ever before posting an A2 size card. Yet for me, that’s almost all I make, since I make lots and lots of cards for Operation Write Home. A2 is their preferred size. Thanks for sharing you’ve been on a roll lately!

In Reply to Joanne on Comment#29 – Yes, I did use the EKSuccess Scroll Pattern Large Edge Punch :-). This background was a cast off I had left over when I made this similar card on March 17th located HERE You can do it too – be sure to see the tutorial HERE and use a 4″ x 4″ piece of paper.ReplyCancel
