What’s Your Background?

Hi there.  I know I’ve said before that I love background stamps – to me they make the card.  Since I’m one that will hunt for hours for the perfect paper for a card, imagine my relief when I have a background stamp to work with!  Most of my job is done right there because in essence I’m making my own background paper.  Now the only thing to do is figure out what color card stock and what color ink.

This month Our Daily Bread Designs released two new background stamps that are Christmas themed, and lovely I might add.  The one I used on this card is called Snowflake Swirl Background.  I paired it up with a sentiment from the Holly Tag Set and embossed them both in white.

For the next card I used another of the new backgrounds from Our Daily Bread Designs called Poinsettia Background and paired it up again with one of the very elegant sentiments from the Holly Tag Set.  I layered vellum over top of the card to mute the impact of the background since I used bright red ink.  Also, I love hand twirled roses, but they don’t always click for me.  I guess I must have loosened up because this one came together in minutes and I didn’t have fuss over it.

Speaking of Our Daily Bread Designs, something special is going on that you might want to make a note of.  Kelley is offering free shipping special for Thanksgiving weekend (November 25 – 28th) as a thank you to ODBD customers.  Over the same dates,  she is offering blog candy over on the ODBD Blog.  A lucky commenter stands the chance of winning a Bread Basket Bundle, which is two new backgrounds, three new tags sets and the new tag die.  Here’s a coupon for you to use when you’re shopping over the weekend :-)

Speaking of blog candy, keep your eye peeled here because you all just helped me reach another seriously cool milestone.  I could not have done it without your help and your sweet, sweet comments.  I’m pulling together something to celebrate the occasion so be sure to check back with me.

    Hi Becca,

I just love your cards, you always know just what will go together.
I love background stamps too, have got a few, but some times I can’t get the whole thing stamped, I have been putting them on the table then putting my paper on top and then using my brayer to run over it, I seem to get it better then.
    Thanks.ReplyCancel

These are beautiful cards. I enjoy back ground stamps as well, but I am some times intimidated by them, they sometimes do not stamp great in all places. Putting something over it, like an embellishment, in that area helps. As usual your cards are so beautiful. Thanks for sharing with us.

Oh I love these and the colors you used are so fresh !! I must order these background stamps. And they are large !. I make 5″ x 7″ cards and so many background stamps are too small. I too have been using more background stamps because I can’t seem to find patterned paper that will look good with an idea that I have for a card. TFS!!
P.S. ODBD is showing the poinsettia background stamp using gold embossing and it is lovely that way too.ReplyCancel
