When Life Knocks

Hi there friends.  I stole away for a small break and was able to finish up two cards that have been lying on my table.  They are not elaborate, but I thought I would share them nonetheless.  Sometimes the act of getting something done is better than all the time put into it.  Since right now I feel like I’m threading beads onto a string with no knot, I’ll go with this small accomplishment.  The first card is made using a new set released in October for Our Daily Bread Designs call Pray from the Full of Grace Collection

I jump every time get to use some of my Zva pearls stash.  This flourish seemed perfect to flank the Spellbinders Mega Ovals L stacked upon the Spellbinders Labels Ten.  A sheer ribbon cinches the whole deal.  See, I told you simple.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Our Daily Bread Designs – Pray
Paper:  K&Co., Bazzill
Ink:  Colorbox Chalk Ink – Olive Pastel
Accessories:  Zva Pearls, Ribbon, Spellbinders Mega Ovals LG, Spellbinders Labels Ten

For my next card I used the new poinsettia die cut by Our Daily Bread Designs – It matches the large poinsettia stamp an existing Christmas set called Blessed Christmas  Now we all know that I’m cutting challenged, so this nifty die made quick work of cutting out the poinsettia.  I colored it with Tombow markers and layered it on top of Spellbinders Labels Fourteen.   For my tag, I used one of the sentiments from the Blessed Christmas set and omitted Holy Night for a sweet little tag.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Our Daily Bread Designs –  Blessed Christmas
Paper:  Paper Studio, Bazzill
Ink:  Versamark and Gold embossing powder
Accessories:  Our Daily Bread Designs Blessed Christmas matching Poinsettia die, Spellbinders Labels Fourteen, Spellbinders Double Ended Tags, pearls, ribbon

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Smooches!

    Dear Becca,

You may think the first card simple, but it is stunning. I have some of that paper from years ago and don’t think it has ever looked better than tonight with how you have used it. That sentiment is one of my favourites, and with all the beautiful pearls and ribbon this card is a knock out!!!

Your second card is so ‘stately’ in the red and gold! You have the most beautiful papers and ribbons I have ever seen. The way you have put this one together is beautiful and really gives meaning to
    ‘Silent Night’.
Love and prayers for you and your dear one.ReplyCancel

  • Linda LOctober 31, 2010 - 1:36 am

Oh my – sooooo beautiful. That first sentiment is inspiring and love how you’ve embellished with the pearls and gorgeous ribbon. Your layers on the 2nd card are totally gorgeous too….thanks for sharing Becca. Hope that string gets a knot in it soon to make life a bit easier for you. xLReplyCancel

Both cards are stunning Becca, but I especially like the second one. Just love the deep red and gold together. I’m going to have to check the two sites you listed for the papers to see if I can find the ones that you used. Hope all is well, or at least going better, on the home front. I think of you daily and just can’t imagine what you or your husband must be going through. I’ll continue to pray for you both and hopefully soon you will have some good news for your followers.ReplyCancel

Hey Becca, These are beautiful cards! I love the Pray sentiment. I may have to buy that t set, just for that sentiment. And the poinsettia! What a beauty! It almost looks real! I have only one question. You said that the Pray card wasn’t elaborate…It sure looks elaborate to me! The pearls, I think, make it look elaborate. (Even if they did come off a sheet already laid out for you to just lay it on the card:)
Thanks for sharing your talent with us!ReplyCancel
