Oh goodness, I apologize. I fell asleep and the wheel and didn’t put my new poll up on Monday morning early. This has quickly become one of my favorite things on the blog and there’s generally a rush on Monday to answer but I fell down on the job. I was tied up yesterday – my air conditioning broke and it even though some of you just got done with a blizzard – it was over 85 degrees inside my house yesterday. I was miserable! Thank goodness the air conditioning guy could come although it wasn’t until about 5pm. He sure made me happy when he fixed things until he mentioned how much it will cost to fix permanently, yikes!!

Boy that is a tough one. I’m torn by the love of clear for storing purposes, but I recently bought some clear that didn’t take the ink I have well and stamp very splotchy (stazon and tim holtz) Whereas I know all the rubber stamps I have I’ve never had that problem. I’ve been debating turning my rubber wood mounted stamps into the cling kind but what wood stamps I have I like displaying them on my shelf. Ahh torn! :D
I wish that all acrylic or clear stamps were made from a good quality product like the rubber ones , for the most part are. Storage is always an issue, especially as the years creep by and we accumulate more “stuff”, so the unmounted stamps are definitely better in that regard. It will be interesting to see your pole results, Becca.
This was a hard poll to answer. I like clear stamps because I can see what I’m doing, but I prefer rubber stamps because they are always so crisp and detailed. I know I could use my stamp a ma jig thing to get my stamps exactly where I want them, but I never remember that I could have used it until after I’ve finished stamping. I guess I should work on that one.
I like the clear stamps for positioning but have problems sometimes with them sticking to the clear blocks. Also they are much easier to store.

I just can’t explain it, I just need to feel the wood block in my hand,it may be just something in my head,but I feel as if my stamped images look better,more crisp and sharp.

I sure could have saved a lot of storage space (and money) if we’d had the clear unmounted stamps in the beginning! It’s so nice to see right where the image is going.

Most of my stamps are wood mounted but I also have rubber on cling that I like. I try to embrace what I have and go from there. Interesting poll.
This is a tough choice. I elected wood stamps because I have a simple effective way of storing them and retrieving them. They are in acrylic frames, labeled by category, and stacked in a cupboard…neatly. It would be better yet if the frames were divided by side supports so they could be easily slid in and out but I haven’t sprung for that expense yet. I love clear/acrylic for all the reasons they were created but haven’t devised a good method of storage/retrieval. It requires thumbing through the collections of varied size packages. I do like rubber on cling, e.g. GKDesigns’ and her storage solution, but have not gone to the expense of changing out my current wood-mounted. Bottom line, nothing quite beats having the image (usually colored) of the end product right there, imho.
I love the cleare stamps, as you can see, where you put them and they don´t take as much storage space up as the weedmounted do, so they´re my clear favorit, and I still think, they make a nice crisp image, that always looks nice. And I preffer the real stamps to the digital ones, cause even they say, they´re jsut as good, it´s always harder to avoid them from bleeding, when you color them, and even I got a new printer, that should use waterproof ink, they still bleeds a little and that makes them a tiny bit blurry in the imagge, and I don´t like that at all, so please give me the real stamps LOL.
My favorite are wood mounted, but for storage reasons I have had to switch, as much as I can, to rubber cling. I’m not a huge fan of vinyl cling. I don’t get as clear an image.
I LOVE rubber stamps. But after continual arguments with the bf who felt my stamp collection was getting out of control (3 storage boxes under the bed and half of his closet), I started purchasing clear. I was getting the same results as some of your readers above (Tim Holtz acrylic really surprised me with the subpar quality not equivalent to purchase cost) and discovered rubber cling stamps at Joann’s last week! This discovery combines the beautiful stamping results, ease of positioning and storage! Beck I love your blog!!
Becca….Used to have only SU wood stamps when I started stamping. I have tried, I think, all the stamps types out there from low price to high price stamps. I too was disappointed with the Tim Holtz stamps. Have found the Gina K. and Hedgehog, Blue Ridge Mountain stamps, plus the clear packaged SU stamps some of the best. Many times the ink plays a big part in the final stamped look. Love Memento stamp pads. Easy to clean off the stamps as well.

Clear stamps are so easy to position for stamping, but I also have a lot of cling mounted. I love having them sorted in books & being able to find my “Happy Birthday” fonts to chose the right one. Amazing how many stamps I have in about 2 square feet on my shelf. I have several books for different seasons, holidays & specialty stamps. Clear mounting sheets make it easy to see & I have colored images mounted on top to remind me of the coloring. The time it took to organize it all is well worth while.
I voted for mounted on wood. Even tho I love all my stamps no matter what they may be. They are even making the clear stamps so much better these days than when they were when they first came out. As always Becca, TFS!!! :-D
I agree with the others. A difficult poll to answer. I like the acrylics/clear stamps.. so nice to see for positioning, but i have a difficult time with keeping them on the acrylic or getting a great impression sometimes. I like the cling mount better. They are great for storing, but you can’t see to position as well, although it’s better than wood mount. I think you get a better impression more often with wood mount however. I own a lot of wood mount, but i will buy the cling mount since it’s much less expensive and i have a huge storage issue happening these days!
without a doubt,99% of my card making using digital stamp because I can resize it to suit my card layout.
Stamps! That is an interesting thought as I have hundreds of these as a teacher. I remember when given a set of acrylic ones and just tossed them aside. I thought they were too ‘jiggly’, if I can use that word. Now I just love them as my best friends. I have some very favorite rubber ones which I shall take off the wood so I can use them more. I think that positioning them is a must and i don’t always use my positioner and I own two of these tools… :) I hope to remove all wood from my rubber ones and get everything catalogued for more frequent usage. Can you guess I voted acrylic? :)

Sorry to hear about your A/C. I know how that is living in the ST. Pete area. It does get hot. Hope everything works well for you. I took all of my wooden blocks and took off the stamp and mounted on cling. It saves me alot of room. Though I love that they are now putting a picture of the stamp on the cling now!
I voted for wood mounted. I have many sets of clear but often find that I lose some of the smaller ones because they don’t cling as well. I also like to be able to see the image when I open the drawer. I have mine stored in and Ikea wardrobe where I installed narrow (heighthwise) drawers. I group them by subject (flowers, rabbits, birthday, etc). It has worked great for me. I tend to forget what I cannot see and the cling stamps are just more difficult (for me) to see. Maybe it’s the way I store them. Love you Becca!
I have to vote for rubber, although I have some of each. There is nothing quite like the feel of a hefty wood-mounted rubber stamp in my hand. I have shelves that are about 3 in. deep, that a friend’s husband built. The shelves are adjustable, so I can fit all sizes on the shelves. He designed them to fit behind a door. The doorknob takes up about 3 in. of space, which is normally wasted. Not anymore! My friend was much more organized with her stamps and shelves than I am. She entered in the computer the name and number of each stamp and when she needed one, she would type “heart” or whatever into the computer, and it would tell her which room and which shelf that stamp was on. She had each shelf labeled by letter of the alphabet. I ran out of doors to put them behind, so I have a long hallway in my bedroom, and they are lining up along there.
I am such a visual person, that I can usually remember what shelf the stamps are on. I have them organized by type, “flowers”, “hearts”, wedding, etc. I have found that when I want to do a quick card, I don’t want to have to get the acrylic mounts out and dig through the zipper bags of unmounted stamps. I just want to grab a wood-mounted stamp and STAMP!
Oh, I forgot to tell you what the behind-the-door stamp shelves are made from. They are recycled oak pallets, like the use with fork lifts. My friend’s husband used a planer to make them thin, about 3/8 in. thick. He built a frame that goes up to the ceiling out of other wood, a bit thicker, and there is a permanent shelf at the top and one at the bottom, to add stability, then the others are adjustable with those little brass gizmos. They are a great idea. It only took 4 molly bolts into the dry wall to hold them up. The bottom rests on the baseboard.
I prefer wood mounted stamps for more clarity, consistency and ease of use and cleaning. Yes, they create more of a challenge for storage. I have lots of different kinds of stamps and use all of them, but my favorite will always be wood mounted rubber deeply etched stamps.
I love to read the comments to your polls. I removed most of my rubber stamps from the wood blocks and have been purchasing clear images. I agree with others that the rubber stamps have better stamped images. Thanks for the polls.
The clear stamps win for me. It’s so easy to see where you are stamping and the storing is so much easier. I have so, so many and don’t want to part with any of them. I find that if they don’t stamp right the first time I will condition them with a white eraser and wash them in a mild soap and run under water and dry throughly before using. I still love the rubber, but the storing is a problem. Hugs.
this is a hard choice. I like the wood ones – I think because this is what I started out with and used the most. Although I’m been purchasing more clear lately just for storage issues and I like that you can see where your stamping better.

I like the clear stamp because if you use more than one stamp per page then you know you are lining up correctly – at the correct distance…etc. Also before you stamp you might have a visual that might make you angle it just to give it another design whereas with the wooden block you would never have noticed it.
My definite first choice is wood-mounted rubber. I get the best impression with them and it’s easy to find what you are looking for. That being said, due to storage issues I have taken many of my stamps off their wood blocks and put them on cling cushion. I can get the Stampin’Up stamp cases two high in my acrylic frame “drawers” and thus store many more stamps in my limited space. My tried and true favorite stamps are staying on wood. I don’t mind using a stamp positioner. As far as the clear stamps go, I find some are difficult to get good impressions with, even when you condition them.
Love the clear for positioning and for easier storage.
I love the clear. With my vision it seems to help for aligning. I am new to stamping so I do not have too many. Currently I have them stored in CD cases. Thank you Becca!
I absolutely love cling mounted rubber. I find the acrylic difficult to work with in that they get stuck on the plastic they are stored on (I have even torn a Tim Holtz clear stamp trying to get it off) and I find their inking capacity varies hugely. Because most cling mounted rubber stamps have the image on the cling, I can easily see where I am stamping and I know they will last a very long time!!! Just my opinion.
Great poll. I see acrylic is winning. I can’t get a good stamping out when there is a large area that needs to be inked up. I find the ink beads. Any suggestions?
I picked Clear/Acrylic stamps, but it was a hard choice! I love Clear, Cling and Wood mounted, I use it all! If the image is pretty, I’ll use it no matter what kind of stamps they are :)
I voted for rubber on cling. I have some clear that I like and are great to see where you are stamping but overall I get a better impression with rubber. Like them being on cling to use on a block-helps to see where I am stamping. Good poll.
I have many , many more clear stamps than rubber wood ones but for really clear stamping, the rubber wood stamps are truly the best for image quality, I think. I switched to clear with an acrylic block sorely for flat storage reasons.
My first choice is the wood mounted stamps. But because of storage issues I generally opt to buy clear stamps these days. I do agree with some of your comments that the clear usually make it easier to line up the image. Regardless of which kind, if I like the image I will buy the stamp.
I don’t even have to think twice about my choice between rubber stamps and clear stamps. Rubber Stamps win hands down, get a much better image and don’t have to worry about which inks I can use.
Like many stampers, I find rubber-on-wood stamps give the clearest images, but I like the rubber on cling stamps because you have easier placement of the image and stamps are easier to store. Tough decision in this poll!
Some of the cling stamps are ok, but rubber is my first choice! And I prefer them on cling as the wood ones now take up to much room. The rubber just stamps better. But I have a lot of both as some of the subject only come on cling. Good luck with this question. Edna
I seem to be buying more clear, but like the most of you I prefer the wood mounts. Clear are different because some inks just bead up on them and leave a blurry edge, but when you buy as many stamps as I’m sure we are do, storage is getting to be a real problem so will have to take the good with the bad…Barb F
Whew…had to really do some mental weighing on this one between the wood and clear. They both have things I like about them, but had to go with clear because I can see where I’m placing my image. Even with a stamp aligner, I’m a little unsure that it is going exactly where I want it. That said, I feel that I can get a crisper image with wood mounted stamps because there is a more solid connection between the rubber and the mounting block of wood. Tough choice. Fun pole, Becca.
I like to use rubber with cling foam as they are easier to store. Am not crazy about clear stamps because I don’t feel they give as defined an image. I just unmounted a few thousand wood mounted stamps this winter – and am in the process of putting cling on them only as I need them – too big a job. Sure is easier to store this way!!!

I know what it is like to have a major “appliance” go out. We were in Puerto Rico several years back and upon our return (February in Colorado) my mother was bundled up on our couch with many blankets and my father was in bed with our toddler trying to keep him warm because our heater had gone out while we were gone. My parents had taken our son to their home in New Mexico and met us at our home the day of our return – thank goodness they were not there the entire time. Our return was very late night so in turn we had to get a service call made in the middle of the night and it was extremely expensive, but what is one to do. We had the fireplace, but this does nothing in a 4000sq ft home.
Glad it turned out okay as our situation did as well!

I have to vote for rubber on wood stamps – they stamp better and more evenly because the ink “sticks” to the rubber better than acylic. As said above – the ink “beads” on acrylic and doesn’t cover as well. Storage can be a problem but luckily a solution was presented to me early on – 18 yrs ago now! A place where I was working had a set of blueprint drawers – very large but only about two inches deep and they were going to throw them out and hang the blue prints. I asked if I could have them and they have been in my craft room ever since. When a drawer is pulled out I can easily see the images and I have them arranged in catagories. I estimate that I have about 500 stamps stored in that cabinet but don’t ever try to move it! Thanks, Becca

Tough question! Started with all SU. Love the crisp images from the rubber. Then found Verve and LOVE Julee’s stamps so went acrylic. Great to be able to see where you are positioning your image, though find the solid images aren’t as crisp at times (need to invest in some different inks). Love the acrylic as there is so little space needed for storage – have them in binders and they are easy to flip through and find what you want – plus you can disguise how many stamps you actually have LOL! I like the clear stamps best because you don’t need an additional piece of equipment to line up the image where you want it to print. They are also a lot easier to store because they take up a lot less room. But as many other stampers out there, I have my share of wooden ones that I love using too.
However, I am NOT a Fan of the cling stamps! To me they are cheap and don’t “cling” to the block very well at all. I have a miserable time using them because they pull off the block if the ink is the least bit sticky. I keep all my supplies very clean, so I know that isn’t the problem. I haven’t found them to be very user friendly, and they don’t always line up well!
I agree with most that clear are the easiest to position, but you don’t always get a crisp impression. Now that the cling-mounted are increasing in number, I think that is the best of both worlds. Wood mounted are great if you want to color your stamp with markers, but they are expensive and hard to store!
Wow, this is the first time I just can’t answer with one choice from your list… I like several of your choices equally and choose from those depending on which way an image I like is available. I love wood mounted rubber stamps, but I’ve never had a problem with clear stamps like I hear so many others complain about so I keep using those, too… and I also use the cling mounted rubber as well as unmounted rubber that I use with various means of attaching those to my acrylic blocks. There is a new product (at least new to me) that I just found and will try soon called Tack ‘N Peel by Tsukineko that hopefully will make using my unmounted red rubber collection easier. So, for me, I doubt I’ll ever limit myself to one kind of stamp… it’s the image that matters most. But, one little addition… I’ve never had much luck with foam mounted rubber stamps… the ones I’ve tried always seem to take ink on the edge as well as the image portion and then I end up with ink marks where I don’t want them! So I usually won’t buy foam mounted stamps unless it’s some image/s that I just can’t live without! LOL!! I’ve also collected a few digital images, but have never used any of them yet… I do love my ink pads and making things from scratch and even when I use the computer to generate a sentiment or the like, I feel like I’m cheating! LOL!!

I find the rubber cling easier to store, altho it is easier to find the wood blocks.
I do prefer the rubber cling in the long run.
I have been buying clear stamps due to storage issues but definitely prefer the wood mounts. it is much easier to clean and you don’t have to worry about positionong words and phrases every time to make sure they are straight.
Well I guess I am the oddball…but if you can’t see it you won’t use it so I like the rubber stamps. Hope your a/c has cooled you down by now. Arleen
Hello from up north! I ticked off “mounted on wood” because that’s how I learned to stamp. I will always have a soft spot for wood. Having said that, I have also enjoyed clear acrylic, rubber mounted on foam and just recently I invested in rubber only and mounted them myself on foam. After a bit of hand-holding from Suzanne at Quietfire Designs where I bought the rubber & foam, I was thrilled to bits with the outcome. So plain ol’ rubba mounted by moi, might just be my new favourite.
At first I could not have believed the cost of clear stamps. And the storage of them is very economical. I bought some small alphabets (clear) which was fun to experiment with. I could put the letters together in whichever way I want. A problem with clear stamps is the possibility of loosing them, while cleaning. I was rubbing it clean against my cleaner and it the stamp came off the clear holder. :( It was a very small letter. Is there a better way to clean them? The capabilities of putting them together and then stamping (ie, letters) is something a person can try. But I still use the rubber ones more yet so I guess you cannot put my vote down for either one or maybe you should put them down one for each. :)
I like the acrylic for the reason that I can see them but I also like the rubber mounted on wood,i find the quality is much better. I use them with my stampmagic when i have lots of time.

I would have to say rubber mounted on wood. I love clear stamps because you can see where you are putting them, they are easier to store, etc. but I own mostly Stampin’ Up inks and I find that the clear stamps I have bought do not make a nice impression with that kind of ink. I really don’t have the money to buy a different type of ink so I find I mostly use Staz-on ink with my clear stamps. I love that my rubber wood mounted stamps work well with my inks because it gives me a lot more options when I use them.
You haven’t lived out loud till you use digital stamps! They are the very best! I use most all digital products from printing my own papers to making all of my own elements out of papers etc. When I am through you would be hard pressed to tell it was done digitally. I do use ribbons, pearls etc. Digitally you can resize everything exactly how you need it. I use a lot of the colored graphics you can buy online because I don’t know the first thing about using copics. Neither do I have a storage problem! I love digital!!!

An exciting time was had by all!!! Came home yesterday, booted up my computer and could not get on-line….a new modem in hand and 5-6 hours on the phone later, all 4 of our computers are up and running again! Praise the Lord, it’s fixed….I had no idea how much I depend on my computer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have bought only a few acrylic and have not been happy with them. I love the cling rubber. It gives great impressions and storage is a snap. I’m in the (slow) process of removing my wood mounted to cling rubber. I’m lucky to have a room, though small, of my own to craft in, but it still fills up quickly.Our Daily Bread Designs are just perfect on the cling rubber, such good quality. I do wish more companies would give us a choice.

Although I have them I don’t care for clear stamps. First off I don’t like buying anything in sets when I only want or will use one or two items in said set. I don’t care for all the fussing clear and cling stamps require, find them, pull them off the sheet, mount them on the block, hope they stay on the block not the stamp pad, humbug. I also find I can’t always count on getting a crisp image from clear stamps.
Wood mount stamps are and will always be my first love. I can always count on getting a nice crisp image no matter what ink I use. I have mine organized by subject and cataloged but I’m such a visual person I can remember what’s in which drawer and I seldom need the catalog with the wood mounts. I like that I am able to spot the one I want at a glance, simply pick it up and STAMP. And at the end of the day I love the feel of the old wood block in my hand. Storage isn’t a major issue, I don’t hang on to stamps I no longer use. If I could I would permanently mount my favorite clear and cling stamps.
Glad you got the AC fixed. Last year ours went out on a 104 degree day and we had 10 dinner guests. Yikes! Bless them, the repair guys came out and fixed it that day but our sit down dinner turned into a BBQ fast. Makes you realize how blessed you are to have the AC.

I voted for rubber on wood. I have a few clear and cling stamps, but find I don’t use them often. I love the crispness of images stamped with rubber and the look and feel of wood mounts.
When I used to work at a huge stamp store, I remember having a customer ask if she could just buy a beautifully indexed Dee Morgan stamp to display as a little work of art!

Hey Becca, interesting poll. This time last year I’d have said clear stamps. I have many of them. From all ends of the financial spectrum. I recently got some red rubber stamps mounted on cling cushionn. They give you a great stamped impression! A much better inpression than the regular clear ones. I still use my clear ones and I love that I can see where they are going. It makes me wish for some 22nd or 23rd centuray invention that would give us clear rubber! lol A girl can dream…..can’t she?

Clear stamps so that I can see to line them up. Rubber stamps aren’t always on the block squarely and I always seem to get it crooked. They do leave a clean image but not a straight one.
I just love this voting thing. My voice can really be heard. I think you know by now that I don’t get out much since I get so excited about this.
There is nothing like “seeing” exactly where you are stamping. Added bonus….. much less storage space is needed in my tiny craft room.

Wow Becca, that’s a very good question and so nice to see everyone else’s comments on this subject and very helpful comments too.
I like wood stamps simply because it’s one piece and at times has a colored picture on it to give you an idea for coloring the image and helps you not to miss a part of the image or color it in a wrong color. But… they do have their down fall when you have 283 Stampin’ Up! sets plus the matching wheels and then there are the Hero Arts, Penny Black and every other one that was appealing when I saw it so I bought it! And who remembers there’s that stamp-a-ma-jig that was demoed at a Stampin’ Up! party and you bought it with very good intentions but some how it seems to stay in the drawer until you read about it…. only then you forgot what drawer it’s been occupying space in for 10 years! And Oh, those 283 sets of stamps….they sure do occupy a whole lot of space in a 42 inch wide 4 drawer lateral file cabinet with each set labeled on the short end then stood up on end in neat rows for easy view. For the stamps that I bought to match each other I buy extra clear stamp storage boxes or I make little clear boxes from acrylic (not top quality) and make my own as if making a box on a scor-board and use Red Line tape and if they aren’t strong enough I add a piece of chipboard from a paper pad.
Then there are all those other single stamps that I bought to match each other I buy extra clear stamp storage boxes or I make little clear boxes from acrylic (that isn’t top quality) on a scor-board as if making a box and seal with Red Line tape.
Then there’s all those single stamps that I just could not do with out! So I bought a pack of 10 (actually 4 packs!) of 12” x 12” CraftKeeper Poly Envelopes, sorted my stamps by type (kids, animals, flowers, wording, etc.) added a piece of sturdy chipboard (paper pad back, chipboard box, etc) for support, laid them flat, partially pulled out the chipboard as a tray then lined them up, closed it and snapped them closed then I added a P-Touch Label on the end that faces out and store them on end – standing up for storage. You should not stack them on top of each other as the weight of the stamps will crush the images on the bottom of the stack.
For my clear stamps; I keep them in their original envelope packages and store them standing upright, by brand and size, in a tall plastic container by Sterilite called “Show Offs” (#1896). It has an approximate usable space of 12” wide x 7” deep x 11” high and comes with a blue or turquoise lid with a handle. Target’s everyday price is cheaper then JoAnn’s unless they are on sale at 50% off or you have a coupon. I keep all of my clear stamping blocks in a smaller size Sterilite with a handle. For my little 3” x 3” packages of clear stamps like my Hero Arts A to Z alpha only sets I keep in their original package and use a large quilt safety pin thru the hanging hole in the package and keep them in alpha order all together so they won’t be scattered in between my larger stamp sets in the container.
I have just a very a few JustRite Stamp sets. I store the stamps in small round 2” and 2-1/2” plastic containers with screw on lids, labeled on the top and side) and keep them in a storage container the same size and type as I use for my clear stamp blocks. I can stack this container on top of my 3 clear stamp containers in an unusable corner of the room since my room is really tooooooo small for my desires!!! I got this idea from Becca’s storage of her stamping blocks. She has many more stamps than I do but when I catch up with her I will need to change to the book storage for stamps.
I have sponge stamps but I’ve never found a use for them after getting talked into buying them at the first odd brand stamp party that I went to many years ago.
I’ve never used cling stamps, in fact I don’t even know a thing about them other than Hero Arts has a nice “Thank You” one that I like. And digital, I don’t like the idea of having anything else on my computer because it is always so full of tutorials from SplitCoastStampers, other crafters that I find usable and Becca…….she sure has been putting out some nice tutorials lately, I like the little pictures with the instructions right with it. I copy them to my word and change my paper setting to a .5 top and bottom and .8 on the sides then enlarge the pictures to fit three across and print them. The same thing I should be doing to all of the other ones!! It’ll my computer that is almost/or is out of memory with all the crafting ideas on it including pictures of Becca’s cards and anything else that she has created that I find is worth saving for reference – the little chair rolodex and the Spellbinders Heirloom Ornament which I had been looking for, for a year and a half now!
Then Becca’s cards alone are the greatest thing for ideas when you have 158 Spellbinders dies like I do. Sometimes one only needs a kick to get going and I use Becca’s card pictures for that kick! But… there is just one card picture that I was so sure that I saved and really, really want but I can not find it any where not even on line and sadly it is only a couple of years old! So Becca, (or any one else) please anyone, someone, if you can just lead me to it I would really appreciate it. It is a baby girl theme (not Carmine) in pink and uses the Spellbinders Baby Girl Die set. I know it was a couple of years ago as Becca’s work is why I bought Spellbinders dies and the baby girl went on clearance shortly after.
If my long detailed comment is useful for just one person then today’s poll is well worth it. I am going to read everyone elses as I know I will find some good helps for personal use. I hope Becca has found good use of any on us other crafter’s comments.
And Becca…. I sure do like your work, I really do. It has helped me a lot in more ways than you will ever ever know.
I prefer the rubber cling-mounted stamps to the clear stamps. Yes, the clear stamps are great for positioning, but I think the rubber stamps give a better finished image. I’m beginning to remove some of my favorites from the wood blocks.
Hi Becca! I voted for the wood mount rubber stamps. I think they stamp a clearer image. I like the feel of the wood block, I feel I have more control. I use my Stamp a ma Jig when I need precise placement. I have several clear stamps, but as others have mentioned, they just don’t ink up as well as the rubber ones. I have known for a very long time that I would need to have all cling mounted stamps. First because I have little room!! Second because I want a very large amount of all the stamps that I see…. I started taking my stamps off the wood about four years ago. I would buy 6 of the cling sheets and work on taking my stamps off till I used up my cling, then start again. I feel the rubber gives a more precise, clearer image. The cling mounted stamps lend themselves well to storage. I have the largest majority of them stored in CD cases. I know these cases are becoming more difficult to locate to purchase. So I have started using the new cases being sold by Stampin Up! I also have begun to use these cases for Nestabilities. I have some stamps which are made to use with the “Nesties” and I have both stored in their cases. The larger “Nesties” will not fit but may of the smaller ones will. Some of my Just Rite stamps and Nestabilities fit together in the cases quite well. I love that I do not have to “hunt” which stamps go with which Nestie”. This was hard. I would prefer the clear, (so easy to place accurately), but I often do not get as good an image with them as with my wood mounted. I find there is a great disparity among the clear stamps, as far as quality goes. So i voted for my tried and true wood mounted, that almost never fail me. Of course, I most often pair those with my positioner.
Oh my goodness! A/C? Where in the world do you live? Arizona? I’m in NC and we have seen warmer weather, but its still pretty cool, especially at night when it gets below freezing. Hope you are able to get a new one since it sounds like the repair will be so costly.
Great question! I use to use wood mounted red rubber stamps. I refused to try anything else. Well, that all changed when I found Papertrey Ink. I liked the designs and how many stamp images included with a set for the low price. I tried a few and the ‘rest is history’! I have sold over 400 wood mounted stamp sets and do not regret the decision. I love being able to see through the clear stamp image to place it exactly where I want it. I wish ‘Just Right Stamps’ would switch to clear, then I’d be purchasing them especially because they coordinate with Spellbinder dies.
This question is impossible to answer! I’ve got ’em all (except foam, hate those!) and I use ’em all! I agree with everyone else’s reasons. I’ve just got an HP inkjet printer. If I can I print out my digi’s and just let sit for a couple of days, it I’m in a hurry I blast ’em with my heat gun. I don’t use copic’s, but do watercolor pencil, Twinklin’ H2O’s & distress ink. I really haven’t had a problem with “bleeding”. Even regular colored pencils and baby oil works.

I like pretty much all stamps, but would have to say that I enjoy using the clear stamps because it makes placement easier. To me, the image is more important than the medium.

Becca, that is so hard to choose just one. LOL My FAV is rubber mounted on wood once I found the StampAMaJig (LOL), but I LOVE clear polymer/acrylic because they are more affordable than wood mounted and I purchase lots of them when Michael’s has them on sale. And who can resisit those little $1.00 sets by G Studio and Inkadinkado, etc. in the check out lane at Michael’s or JoAnn’s Fabrics. And most recently I have been purchasing SU’s “clear mount” rubber on foam backing that works on my clear acrylic blocks that I already have, for the same reason. They are more affordable than wood mounted. And now that I’m really stamping, I like to spend my money on papers/adhesives/inks/ribbons. Have a Great Day, A/C repairs and all. ((hugs))
I prefer rubber mounted on cling and clear. One because they take up less space than wood mounted; two because I can see better where I am stamping; and three, you get more for your buck when purchasing the clear. :o)
I prefer clear stamps because they’re easy to position, but also because I don’t seem to ink the edges and get “dings” outside of my images.
A/C problems are never fun, especially when it it very warm out! (Went thru that situation last year in March (and when living in the Desert – 85 – 90 degrees inside the house (especially in March!) is never much fun!
On to your poll – I had a difficult time choosing between clear stamps and the new rubber cling stamps. I decided on the rubber cling mount – because I seem to have better luck getting a clear, crisp stamped image the first time. But I would have to say that the clear stamps run a close second. Love your polls, they really make you think!
